  1. I am sure I have an extra old 250w SE bulb around the house. Kind of a long ways away tho...
  2. Very nice little setup. I really like the way you built the filtration into the end.
  3. Thanks for the info. I'm right over by the mall so I'll go check out the bbq place by goodwill. I know exactly which one you are talking about.
  4. Interesting on finding your parts. Have you found anywhere locally to get the pellets? We picked up a couple bags at costco when we bought the grill but they only had the hickory and mesquite. They said that they were only selling the 2 kinds out of respect to the dealers. The internet shows the ace up in salmon creek having them but that was a joke. I wanted to try some of the other flavors but don't really want to order them online.
  5. One thing that I am not sure of is the price if you buy one at a authorized dealer but online the Texas grill that I bought is $999.00. We bought it at Costco for $770 if I remember correctly. The lil tex was about $650 but we spent some time talking with the traeger rep for quite a while and for the extra $125 the extra cooking area was well worth it especially if you entertain. Beth, I don't know if you have found it yet but go to the traeger website http://www.traegergrills.com/ There are a ton of recipes on there and will give you a lot of ideas. We did the maple and brown sugar bacon and it was to die for. We also cooked the SWEET 'N SMOKY BARBECUED RIBS and they were awesome also.
  6. You haven't tried traeger bacon yet then, we cooked some this weekend for our burgers and I don't know if I can ever cook it on the stove again. We have also cooked papa murphy's pizza on it and it was awesome also. Last weekend we cooked 13lbs. of spare ribs on it that were incredible.
  7. I just got the Texas grill for fathers day and all I can say is I wish I had bought one sooner!! I am not sure why they say you can't cook burgers or steaks on them. I have cooked both for friends and they say that both rival the best they have ever had. When I cooked my steaks I smoked them for about an hour and then turned up the heat to 450 and they were done in under 20 minutes. I also love the burger recipe they have on there, we cooked some burgers for some friends on Saturday and one of my buddies could not stop talking about it and wants to go buy one now. They have a bunch of recipes on their website that we have been using for ideas. We bought ours at costco and save quite a bit of money. If you look on the costco website on their specials at the locations it will tell you where they are selling them. I believe that they are back in Vancouver the last week of July. We drove to the Wilsonville costco to get our because I couldn't wait
  8. Thanks everyone. You will probably see me online more now that I don't have to think about all the stuff in the clownhouse.
  9. Hello All, There are a few people that know but most of you don't know that I am shutting the clownhouse down. I actually should rephrase and say I have completely sold the entire setup. All 3 systems, fish, and broodstock are moving to Tigard to a new home. I have a 13 year old daughter and an 11 year old son and have been involved with sports with them 5-6 days a week and do not see an end in sight for quite for possibly years to come til they go to college and move out. They will not be around forever and it is very important to me to be involved as much as I can and it is becoming increasingly difficult to maintain the fish. I was approached by a person a few weeks ago with the passion to breed fish that I had a few years ago. He wanted to start breeding clownfish with the hopes of selling them and having a small business. This just happened to fall right into place as I was initially planning on shutting one system down now and then the juveniles I had in the clownhouse would have been sold by the first of the year and I would have shut that one down also as well as the broodstock. After talking with Jaime for a week or so we came up with an agreement to sell the entire operation as it sits today, fish and all. The first system will move today with the other 2 systems moving over the next few weeks. I think that Jaime can continue to provide the area with the same quality of fish that I have been able to provide as well as expand the business outside of the metro area which I don't really have the time to do. He will have the same setup and broodstock I was working with so it is completely up to him. While the spawning pairs will probably need some time to re-acclimate and start spawning again he is acquiring spawning, Ocellaris, B&W Ocellaris, True Percula, Onyx Percula, Cinnamon, Neon Gobies, and Picasso's. He is anxous to breed them all and I think that in no time he will have more fish than I ever did. While I am relieved that it is moving on I am also going to miss it. When I started over 4 years ago I did not ever imagine that it would turn out like this. I have met some incredible people because of this business and those friendships are very valuable to me. You will continue to see me around probably more frequently as I might have some time to get my breeding reports put together and share some of my experiences with others that are wanting to engage in this area of the hobby. I have successfully bred 13 different species of fish, successfully raising and selling all but 2(both of which I lost one of the broodstock before I was successful at getting the larva through metamorphasis). With this I feel I have accomplished what very few others will in this hobby and it does make me happy when I think that I have raised and sold over 10,000 fish that were not unnecessarily taken from the ocean. Thank you for everyone that helped me along the way and I do want to say thank you especially to one person. Thank you Matt Pedersen, if it wasn't for you I know that I would not have done some the things I have accomplished. I was happy breeding a couple pairs of clowns until I met you and you sparked an interest in breeding and sharing with others that I did not have before. If it wasn't for sharing our TFT program at the MCMAC conference I few years ago I would have never met you and for that I very happy that we met and become friends.
  10. I completely feel your pain Kate. Don't give up I would go with the rest of the group so far and say scale back and enjoy it a little more. I know what it is like to have a lot of tanks and time invested and just feel like you are walking away. It is a relief but on the other hand I am going to miss it. At least I know a couple of people with systems still if I want to go get my hands wet.
  11. Why don't you ask Garrett. I am sure he would tell you.
  12. That is a truly amazing video. I was only able to get thru the first 20 minutes at lunch but well worth it. Thanks for sharing.
  13. The easiest way to rough it up is to use a hole saw if you have one around. Just lay the mesh on a flat surface and rub the hole saw around in t circular motion. Works really well.
  14. You're welcome Roger. I am glad to help the program.
  15. I have used a 55g plastic drum. The white food grade ones you used to get from ushida's. I have never had ammonia issues with the drum or infertility since I have a 800g saltwater breeding setup I would have noticed that . Unfortunately for me Vancouver's water is 10ppm of Nitrates right out of the tap so I pretty much never get perfect water.DOH!
  16. If that is a 10g tank those are tiny.... The AC70 is going to be way to much filter for a 10g tank.
  17. They look like H. Erectus to me. Where did you get them from?
  18. They should be fed probably at least twice a day. Depending on size of the horses I would look for mysis. PE may be a little too big but the Oregon Desert Mysis is a little smaller and they should take to it. I have a large flat pack I could break off some for you. I believe Woody sells it also. I have a perfect 30g cube that is brand new I'd make you a smoking deal on if you want it. With your hang on filter and some sand and rock you'd have a perfect seahorse tank.
  19. If you paid for overnight delivery then you should at least get the shipping refunded.
  20. Installing a bulk head and plug is probably your best bet and easiest solution IMO. You can go to tap plastics and purchase acrylic cement and another small piece of acrylic and try to glue another one in. Mohaynow is spot on if you want to glue another one in make sure to glue it on the inside.
  21. I personally own 2 swc's and I would say that they are the best skimmers I have used. I am not real familiar with the reef dynamics skimmers.
  22. In my experience I have never heard or seen Banggai's even being interested in pods. I had a pair in my 75g with a couple of red scooters and pods all over the place and I can't even ever recalling my banggai even once eating any.
