  1. FYI used acrylic doesnt glue like new acrylic. Acrylic absorbs water while in use so when glueing it it will not repair anything like new acrylic. You are probably fine, but it will not be anything like the bond of fresh acrylic.
  2. I can drill it too if things dont work out with Dave. I have hole saws and have drilled hundreds of holes. no guarantee here either though
  3. Good grief $585 for a fingernail size? I want a frag of your money tree, not your coral.
  4. Sorry Chuck Noob is right, working at SLS its been a fantastic move for me, benefits (my wife no longer works, now parents of twins) weekends/evenings back, PTO, and I still get to sell the same stuff without getting my hands dirty. I miss the livestock, but I sure dont miss scrubbing algae and cleaning skimmers, even though Jordan did most of it. Is this Chuck from Milwaukee? did you move to Estacada?
  5. Red Goniporas are hot, ive got 2 at home and 1 at work, pinks and reds, with a touch of blue sometimes (rings on the polyps)
  6. I spoke to my friend yesterday about this who is a professional fish collector in Hawaii. He said these bills are intentionally ridiculous to ensure they are defeated. Obviously there is always a very slight chance something could get through, but mostly its a way for the politicians to look like they are trying to "stop the madness" to appease the public after everyone gets up in arms because of snorkel bob. Its really pretty much smoke and mirrors to shut people up. Snorkel Bob is the real enemy, he has more false truths than politicians, so you KNOW how many that is. Public dollars at work! Thank you giant government for wasting time and money!
  7. Ya I was going to say I dont think that is something to be bragging about, its never been legal. I think this club owes its success to Ryan (forget his last name, he is a professional Cheif, screen make was Crux). He took the club from less than 10 to over 100 while president 8-10 years ago.
  8. Sunlight Supply will be releasing a new entry level T5 VHO fixture in the next 4-6 weeks. It will be unbeatable for par to dollars ratio. We are still working on patent and TM stuff currently so sorry for being vague. We should be able to release info soon. Just another option to toss in the pile
  9. I remember reading a thread about this big new 2 story LFS in Albany, but now I cant find the thread (did we lose data on the last update?) Whats it called and are they still kicking? Havent heard anything about them since that one thread that appears to be gone.
  10. Sorry Clay, not traveling to sell a $30 item. Epi, I am happy to sell your LFS a probe, but I dont want to undermine them when they are my customers. Weg, let me know when you want to come pick up. Sorry folks, Im all about first come first serve, but if someone wants to pick it up and I dont have to ship it, its much easier. If John falls through, Ill ship for $10 anywhere in the NW.
  11. Ive kept 3 bimacs in the past. Its IMO the best option, they only get about 24", they are diurnal so they are out during the day. But,, they need 70ish degree water, so it requires a chiller. I had mine in a corner hex. I used velcro and acrylic to make lids that could not be removed. I used fine mesh netting in the overflow. Its also best to have a pretty good sized skimmer, they arent clean. If they ink, you need to get the ink out asap and a decent skimmer is the way to do it. I used to hand feed mine emerald crabs. Oh and you can usually get them captive raised, so they are very young. they only live a year so you want a young one to make it worth it. Check out stickycricket.com (off memory) I think he was breeding them in CA.
  12. FYI the Snapper no longer exists,, what they have now is a Snapper/Dart Hybrid. the have always been the same pump, just with different impellers (any pump can be converted). The Hybrid comes with both impellers so you can make it a dart or a snapper. Their is also the Super Dart, which has an even larger impeller Snapper: 2500gph Dart: 3600gph Super Dart #9 impeller : 4200gph
  13. IM on Vacation till the 3rd,, when do you want to come by?
  14. Used VHO setup: 2 x 110w 46.5" VHO super actinic lamps ARO ballast end caps $30 requires wiring. EDIT: SOLD!
  15. You might consider dosing carbon (not active carbon) the new solid vodka method (like Ecobak) works like a charm. I used to dose vodka but with the use of ecobak on my system I run with phosphates below .03 with my milwaukee colorometer and I feed 3 times a day pellets, reef-roids, and elos SVC. Set it and forget it, more upfront cost than GFO or aluminum oxide, but it last for 9-12 months.
  16. havent read the thread,,, but I do automatic water changes with a laundry paristolic pump. It has 2 pumps on it, but you can time them independently. I carefully measured the input and output of the two pumps (with the head pressure, since my vessle is in the garage) and timed them both to pull equal parts. It simply turns on every time power is applied, and each pump runs for the set length of time. I have it on a controller that turns it on and off for multiple small changes per night. I change about a gallon a day normally. Its made by Ecolabs, you can probably find one on Ebay. I can check the model if anyone cares or wants it.
  17. Must not be a standard 55? Ive drilled hundreds of holes in aquariums, but every 55 Ive ever seen was tempered. What brand did you "successfully" drill?
  18. FYI, all 55 gallon tanks are tempered, you can drill it. I have a holesaw, but i wouldnt recommend trying it
  19. The regular 6 is good for up to 3/4" glass. I had a hard time finding it but I found this: http://www.advancedaquarist.com/issues/apr2002/review.htm "The next smaller Magnavore is the Magnavore 6 which sells for $139, and it is intended for 3/4 inch glass."
  20. Kevin when you gonna come get your magnet!?
