  1. Ill probably stand clear of the zeo stuff, too dang expensive IMO. On an average sized system like 200 gallons it would run you like $100, and prodibio would be like $20. Why bother with zeo?
  2. **SIGH** I would kill for 81 degrees. It was 104 yesterday in my office. 160 blocks of ice and counting. ive been staying until midnight or so trying to cool the place down (big door open with fan). last night I didnt stay as late since it was only suppose to be 90 today. Big mistake. Went through alot of ice today.
  3. Are you going to put that sand bed on some starboard or right on the tank? Deep or just a thin layer? Seems like that will be tough to keep clean...
  4. I ran the lights for about 2-3 hours yesterday, was here from 8-12 trying to keep it cool. back again this AM at 8:30, its already 84 and I have 3 tanks at 84.... 30 bags of ice yesterday, at least 40 if not 50 will be needed today. I have a 5 ton (I think thats 100,000btu?) commercial AC unit on the way, naturaly things like that never happen in time.
  5. Rich did the prodibio and Zeo wash out those couple your hopeing ti get to color back up? too much prodibio washes them out like that? I suppose it strips too much phosphates and nitrates? There is a very good chance Ill be importing about $3K worth of prodibio (once I try it) so hopefully you wont have to pay shipping or buy from florida next time
  6. Im my quest for a specific type of tank I came across this website, check out these photos of some residential tanks. Note, these are not reefs, they are synthetic reefs with fish. http://www.livingcolor.com/res_aqu_gallery.cfm
  7. Hey Rich how come the need for a pressure rated pump for a closed loop? I always thought since there isnt any head pressure a flow rated pump was better (cheaper for power).
  8. Ryan Ive been selling Perfecto, pretty much just there "corner-flo" system like you have probably seen in my shop. There is that new 125 with the dual overflows, its Perfecto. I do think they are making a much higher quality product than before. Still not to par with the custom tanks but the price sure is a lot more friendly. I can FYI get them factory drilled for CL etc if you need. joel
  9. jordan I have some of that stuff laying around if you find yourself up here.
  10. Travis am I correct the China roses have the green tint on the body?
  11. I agree the club needs an "image" but Im not sure the banner is the way to provide that. Im not saying we should necissarily change it, it was just a thought that I felt might be cool. If the club wants an image though, I think we should come up with a logo rather than rely on a banner. Yes RC uses the Sohol, but thats more of an icon or logo not a banner IMO. We need a PNWMAS Swoosh.
  12. for me it is because of demand. For a while I couldnt even buy RBTA from my normal vendors, I was relying on a few customers who had them regularly split. Since then they became available, VERY available. They had discounts for buying 12 lots etc. I would guess Liveaquaria Marine depot etc purchase hundreds when they flooded the market (like 2-3 months ago). As far as demand, I was selling 12 a week for a while at $100. If I am moving that many, why charge less? Sales on them has since slowed down (after selling about 40 of them) but I dont want to make them cheaper simply because it could be months and months before they are resonably priced for me. I rarely lose them, so Ill just wait for people to buy them at this price since they havent even been on my lists (I dont look hard either) in the past month or so. HTH.
  13. Our kids here are my dogs having a grand time at the beach back in Feb of 05, as you can probably guess, I have a frisbee in my hand at the time of the photo.....
  14. I dont know where it came from or who did it, but its a great step up! It would be cool to rotate some of those images maybe with POTM pics cropped down to fit.
  15. Whats your budget Ryan? I do have an order coming from aquarium obsessed, but they are a bit more pricey even than the Sea Star ones that Jordan picked up.
  16. Id say if your going to get that, may as well pony up for the colorimeter
  17. anyone have a copy I could borrow? Id like to check it out.
  18. http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2006-06/sp/index.php good article on removing fish,,
  19. If its only a few acro colonies or frags I would probably remove them and treat them seperate. IMO I bet you will get them all without treating the whole tank. If it doesnt work, THEN you can treat the whole tank. Like impure said, they dont live on monties, nor any other coral other than Acropora. Chances are good if you just treat the coral (like 1/10 a pill) you will get all the bugs, without losing your pods etc.
  20. YEH but Im workin! tonight will be fun though
  21. the Dart flows 3600 at 160w, I dont know where your numbers came from. Darts are pretty much soundless, Im not worried about the sound I dont agree it would be less heat either, at only 70w different, Im sure more than half of the heat produced by a dart goes into the air not the water. Points to consider for a normal closed loop: No impellers to clean like powerheads easilly have multiple outputs in different locations without buying multiple pumps Closed loop system is seperate from sump system, either could fail without the other failing. Easier to hide without having goofy fake rocks covering the pump I guess all and all I see your points, but I dont buy it at all. I kilowatt costs about $.08, 70 watts different equates to 0.1344 per day, at $333 (marine Depot) That equates to 6.8 years to pay for the pump. I dont think that qualifies for cheaper in the long run IMO.
  22. lower electrical than a dart? they dont use much...
