Jack-the-reefer
Are there any led echoes on here that can help me identify the color of a diode from a picture? I have some burned out diodes I'd like to replace, but I'm not sure what color they are. And it's a custom layout, so I'm not sure how to find out. TheClark
That is tough, wish I had ideas... Get an excel spreadsheet of the layout from Matt? Also, UVs are almost always the first to go, good chance a chunk of them are UVs. Hope that can help some...
Jack-the-reefer
Thanks Jeremy. I was thinking probably uv's. They look like a really pale violet. I've been having trouble getting a response from Matt. I think he's a pretty busy guy.
Blue Z Reef
Another issue is getting the exact same diodes from the same manufacturer. I've ordered sub 430 diodes from different places and they vary in color from a deep purple to blue. Hard to get consistent diodes without the same manufacturer/distributors. Jeremy is right, most UV and lower spectrum blues will go first. If you need a hand replacing/soldering, I can help you out.
goldenbasketreef
You should be fine replacing with Royal Blue because none of china diodes are bin so even when it is stated violet / uv you will get closer to RB spectrum anyway. Put some thermal grease when replacing diodes.
danlu_gt
If you have those transition glasses that darkens in sunlight, I found they only darkens with sub 420nm. You can use it to determine if it's just royal blue or UVA. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using Tapatalk
