  1. I'd like the Bam Bam rock. I'll send a pm too.
  2. Google "bean animal overflow" and you will find some more complicated, but quiet and safe overflow configuration.
  3. Beautiful tank--can't wait to see it filled.
  4. That seems obvious but I never thought of that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. I'm setting up a new tank that is acrylic so I'm looking for good ways to keep the acrylic clear of algae without scratching it. I've seen the blue mag float, but I was wondering what other people are using and recommend.
  6. What are planning to stock it with?
  7. Nice tank. I don't think you have the "too much rock" look even with the addition.
  8. Hows the parking in the area? ...not that I am about to open a store.
  9. Welcome. What size tank did you have in the past?
  10. What is the last one (purple with the green polyps) called?
  11. Here are some bulb combination recommendations from ATI: http://www.atinorthamerica.com/faq.php Here are some pictures comparing specific ATI bulbs: https://reefs.com/2016/02/10/ati-t5-bulb-comparison/
  12. ATI has some recommended combinations on their site and there was a good comparison of those done independently on another site. I'll try to dig those links up later today. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Thanks. I'm going to track a few of these down. Apparently Amazon might not be a great place for Vol 3 of the Reef Aquarium.... $448 https://www.amazon.com/Reef-Aquarium-Vol-Technology-2005-11-25/dp/B01MQZYQUZ/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1485844051&sr=1-1
  14. I know there have to be others out there who read books... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. While I like reading the seemingly endless forum posts about this hobby I decided to spend more time this year reading old fashion books. I've read a few of the basic books and a couple more advanced ones, but I would say I probably should read more of the books that are out there. So, before I start buying books blindly or by Amazon review I wanted to check in here for some local opinions. What is the book that helped you the most or has been a go to for solid time tested or relevant up to date information?
  16. I'm interested to hear more and perhaps see some pictures?
  17. I checked the Beaverton HD and they had it. After posting this I decided not to put it under my rock in the tank, but I still needed some for the sump. I'm going to use short pieces of pvc under the rock for stability which should be less problematic for an animal rooting around in the sand. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Thanks for all the quick responses. I didn't think about the fish issue. Do you think it is still a problem if the eggcrate is under rock mostly and not covering the entire bottom? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. I looked for eggcrate at my local Home Depot and they don't seem to stock it anymore. Does anyone know a good place to pick some up locally? I'm not picky on the color as It will be for mounting rock to and then covered with sand. Alternatively, what else could I attach the rock to? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Deep sand bed Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. I am building a waterfall algae turf scrubber and I am on the fence about what to use for lights. It seems like the standard approach is to use 26w spiral CFLs around the 3k color range. I'm tempted to try some cheap LEDs in the 660 nm range mostly because I could get them in a convenient flood light that takes less space in my stand. For anyone who has an ATS or even a refugium what are you using for lights?
