That is sooooo ridiculous!! The first floor, with the exposed basement, is child's play. I literally replumbed my entire 1 story rental house in a single day. The second floor is tricker but you can pull pex pretty easily.
If you want to pay me 5k to patch drywall you just let me know when and I will show up.
It is ridiculous. Contractors are out of control on prices in recent years. Plumbers are as bad as electricians to begin with and the price hikes have driven it through the roof. While I don't disagree, these prices are pretty standard at this point if you hire professionals. You get what you pay for though too. Good work isn't cheap and has a lot of perks that doing it yourself simply doesn't provide. Like a warranty and reputable labor lol.

Yeah, see that makes sense. To me. New fixtures, new water heaters and recirc…is your home over 2500 sq feet?
Quite a bit over, yes... lol. The tankless water heater is really nice but it definitely added several grand to the adventure.

I just got a quote for repiping my 2 story home. Basement is exposed.
1 kitchen, 3 bathrooms.
The estimate was $21k. It included redoing the line from the street ($3k) and patching the holes (no painting $5k).
is that insane, or is that what I’m going to see for most plumbing services?
We just had our whole house redone this year. It was about $22k and didn't include patching drywall. That was another ~$3.5k. This was from a reputable plumbing company here in Salem. We also have a sizeable house. This also included a tankless water heater and a recirculator across the entire property as well as a few new sinks/faucets etc.

I think you will have better results. I tried hand dosing with 2 part in a nano tank before and couldn’t get the colors right in the sps because it’s a bigger challenge to keep stability in a small tank as you know. LPS it doesn’t seem to matter as much but acros and montis just wouldn’t hold their color. It is nerve wracking for sure to make changes. Chris definitely is getting better color in his corals. I think it has to do with all the supplements. The new powder form makes it more affordable. I have been using it for over a year now in a new tank and I expect some sensitive corals to die but so far haven’t lost any corals other than the ones that got buried under the sand for a week when I was out of town.
I appreciate the encouragement! I'll keep y'all posted. Anecdotal at best but we woke up to a very happy tank. Happier than what we went to sleep with last night for sure. The corals seem to be enjoying it so far.

Welcome to the All for Reefers club!
Let the initiation begin !!!I admit I'm pretty nervous swapping such a foundational aspect on an established tank but I've given it a lot of thought and the 2-part just isn't serving me the way it should. I get tired of using two timers. Either alkalinity or calcium is alternately sliding around and that's not ideal. Chris blew me away at the meeting when he showed me his recent progress so I'm hopping on board.
Your tank looks great too Kim!

I switched over today. I have Balling A and B on hand as needed. I hope this proves a little easier to keep stable than 2-part.

The afr dose amount is almost exactly the same as your current alk+ca dose amount, which makes it easy to switch.
The amount of each added together? Yoof, that puts me at over 100mL/day. That seems like so much more than what I've seen a lot of people using.

I'm switching to AFR next week after ~6 years on BRS 2-part. @Flash21is using it to great effect. Seems like a solid product though maybe a little pricier than the alternatives.

Hey Greg - would be great if you could make it. Good chance Darcy and I will be busy with house stuff unfortunately...
Bummer Sean. I tried to wave you down to say hi but you were slammed with the raffle. Hopefully we can catch up in July then! It's been too long!

The tacos were so flippin' good. Group buys were out of control, shop was stocked to the gills. It was awesome seeing the club back in full force after such a surreal hiatus. Good to catch up with some folks and thank you to everyone who helped organize!

Good seeing everyone! Went to the aquarium after and had Mo's for dinner. Stopped in Depot Bay on the way back and saw an Orca pod. Finished it off with some saltwater taffy. A great beach day!
