  1. Thanks for the tips, I'm just afraid of bleaching my SPS because I have a feeling my levels are high[emoji16] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Welcome back Joel! LEDs have exploded lately, and they are pretty affordable also. A good one to look up are the Ocean Revives. They are a local company and they make a solid light for a good price! I have 5 of them spread over two tanks and I love them! I've also heard that they are coming out with a new light soon also that allows even more controllability! Are you hoping to put the new tank in your class room or have it at home? 3. Merry Christmas to you also!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I've been battling some algae for a while now and I can't seem to beat it. I've cut feeding to a bare minimum, but that hasn't seemed to help. I'm thinking of adding GFO to the system to see if that helps me get the edge on it until my macro algae starts to get a footing. Would you guys recommend using GFO? I've heard a lot of good and bad things about it? I just don't wan to stress my acros out. It's a mixed reef so I've got all kinds of corals, SPS LPS and Softies. Corals all look great, I just hate the algae look..... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. That's awesome! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. i want the nightmares when they are ready! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. also ready that article! Along with other studies that corals transport better just wrapped in a wet paper town. It's just not the norm so people don't do it. Very interesting stuff though! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. It's got two babies also....I would have bought more but it was hard enough to convince the guy to sell me these[emoji23] they were his grow out ones lol! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Sadly we drove, it was about a 12 hour drive. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. I bought a rock of zoas and an utter chaos frag while visiting family in San Jose, California for the weekend and hauled them all the way home! It was 29 hours from the time the fish store bagged the coral until I had them acclimated and in my tank. No air stones, no heaters(just warm water bottle). It is simply amazing how they can go so long in a bag. I know they get shipped all over the world and are fine but it was something else to see the whole process from point A to B. Anyways just wanted to share for those people who are like me and worry about the 2 hour car ride from "local" fish stores lol! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Very impressive! Sounds very thought out. Now to the important stuff.... Where are the pictures!?!? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. I agree with this, my first thought was something being released out of the sand bed also. What are your parameters at? That can help us figure it out also to see if somethings off. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. I like it also! A very sleek look with lots of room for corals!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  22. Very nice so far! I like the idea of combining everything into one greenhouse. Are you planing to use just natural sunlight for the corals or are you going to hang fixtures up? I am also in the corvallis area, I'm an undergraduate business student! So if you ever need help with the aquarium stuff let me know! Set up a few tanks and could help with setting yours up. You also have Robert in the area who is just wealth of information! Good luck with you build and keep us updated. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  24. last I checked they are selling their S026 unit (no internal timer) for $129! It was on sale for Christmas time I think. I run three above my 180 and two above the frag tank, they are awesome lights and a great price! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
