  1. So I just got done talking with the dive group here in WA. He said they have a groups from "HydroSports Dive and Travel" come up and do silo doves with them. He said they are pretty nice and really good to work with. Here is a link if you want to check them out. http://www.hydrosports.com It would be a good idea to stop by a few shops your considering, get to know a few people and see what they are like. Your dive shops will have deals on "dive trips" where a group of people will get a discount because so many are going at once. Nice to know the people you go diving with and see if you like the group.
  2. Welcome Seth! Excited about the transformation!
  3. Best of luck with the house hunting and move Noobtosalt! I'm anxiously waiting for the new cube thread to begin!
  4. Theres a local dive shop here in the Tri-cities that I go to. I'll ask if they have any good recommendations in your area.
  5. Great, thanks for the help! Awesome, time to go shopping!! I love new toys! Thanks for the help, I keep looking at my drill thinking, "no way. . . this is going to get tricky after my first few frags!" LoL
  6. So here I am, the new guy to the sweet world of coral! I'm rocking a IT-2040 LED system on top of my 40B, slowly bringing it up. Right now, it is running at 35% max for 4.5 hours of the day. I have 2 frags that are at the bottom of the tank as to acclimate them to the LEDs. I have a few questions and would love all the info you have to throw at me! 1. Am I really taking my DeWalt drill to a piece of live rock from my tank? If so, do I pull out the coral to see the size of drill bit I need for the plug? 2. This one may get confusing; once the frag is attached to the rock, do I slowly move the rock up in my tank to the right level, or do I "putty" the frag on different rocks until it get to the level, then drill the rock and place the frag? Did that make sense? Essentially, how do I place the frag at the right level in my tank according to lighting requirements? 3. Lastly, how do I know when I found the "sweet number" for the LEDs to stay at for the max? Do I wait until my frags are placed and every week raise the % by a few until my coral looks pissed, then take them back down just a few? Thanks for all the help everyone!
  7. Your tank looks great! I love the false wall too, great idea!
  8. Mangroves, way cool! Are you going to be doing anything different for lightening or keeping your lightening the same as your tank? If your just going to be using your tank lightening, what are you using?
  9. I don't, but have been looking at a new sump setup so I can incorporate one. Check the classified post and possibly put a post up in the "buy/trade/sell" area to see if anyone has some rock for you to buy. You'll get a much better deal with the group then anywhere else, and who knows what else you might find.
  10. This is pretty exciting, even for those of us not in the grow out! To be able to see all the different parameters and watch the growths!!! Awesome! Good Luck everyone!
  11. Awesome!! Thanks for the help eclipse522 and JManrow!
  12. WOW Smann!! That sounds like an epic way to go!!
  13. Those guys look very happy in their new home! Nice set up, excited to see what you do for your coral!!
  14. Hi fishboys! I have a 40 gallon breeder and I feel like I am constantly wanting to do more and more to it everyday! Then again, I'm sure most people feel that way about their tanks. I'm excited to see your 40 come along! Post pictures, even from the very start! Always cool seeing an empty tank and sump sitting next to each other, then. . . BAM!! all fished and corralled out! Good luck on the build and keep us informed!
  15. So, this morning I put together some RO/DI water with my salt and began my weekly chores. I like to do about 10% water changes weekly, I feel it's a small enough amount that there should be very little stress to the tank. After the water change was complete, I began to clean the algae, some areas a bit more "elbow grease" then others. Next is the outside; a good wipe down with a cloth of vinegar water. As I'm doing this, I look up at my new lights. I have the IT-2040 set. The glass has some splash residue on it. My question is this, how do I clean this? Should I use my vinegar cloth at night after they turn off? Should I wait a certain length of time before cleaning them after they turn off? Any and all advice is welcomed and appreciated!
  16. Thats pretty cool. Do they come and go randomly, or perhaps around water changes or something like that? It looks neat!
  17. That's crazy, and very sad!
  18. I can understand that. Maybe we could get 2 or 3 $10 gift cards to that LFS and do a mini raffle, maybe the LFS will throw one in for free. It might promote a purchase of the winners if nothing else. I'm the new guy, so I'm not sure how any of this would work, just thinking of things.
  19. I love the idea of having meetings at members houses, although, could get a bit crowed if it's anything like the last turnout. LoL. I would enjoy meeting at a store in the area as well! Perhaps one of the sponsors? Also, and this is just something I'm tossing out there, what about the possibility of volunteering somewhere in exchange for using a room? Im not sure exactly how it would work out, but for example, the club would have 10 volunteers "help" at the aquarium and in exchange we could use their meeting room for the afternoon. Maybe help cleaning, or something like that? I don't know, just tossing out ideas.
  20. Hi Jake, just started following you on IG (your_medic), welcome to the group!
  21. "Killer Clowns from" . . . The fish tank!! Da da na!!! LoL I bet it makes cleaning the tank an interesting task.
  22. I like the idea of the Rec center! Truth be told, I'm pretty open; I'm making the trip down, it's going to be a weekend trip from now on.
  23. When the rest of your livestock is sold, I'm interested in the "reef octopus (I believe it is a 150 model)-80". Let me know when it's available, I'll PM you for contact.
