  1. The joys of renting, no water bill. Tap might work if you at least use a dechlorinator.
  2. To be honest if I could I would totally take it. lol.
  3. I was just reading about some types killing off other close corals. In the last couple weeks I've had two of the close by mushrooms let go and ended up on the bottom behind my rock work, and some of my Zoas have been looking like something is nipping at them, think I might keep an eye on them to see if its not the killer type hydroids. From what little I was just reading they are really hard to get rid of, most people take out the rock and dry it, I don't want to do that because I have corals on those rocks. Others have tried squirting them with boiling RO water with some good results. I noticed them quite a while ago but didn't think anything of them, today I finally downloaded Tapatalk on my phone. Tapatalk makes is so much easier to post pictures to the forum, to ask questions that need visual I.D.
  4. Its doing pretty good if you look close its the forked SPS to the left of the Pagoda.
  5. Oh ok thanks guys. Not a bad thing tho?
  6. Tanks not doing to bad, some Zoas and my Duncans haven't been looking to happy lately tho. Think I got almost all the fish in the shot, usually only happens during feeding time.
  7. Anyone know what these little polyps are? They seem to only be in two smaller areas of my rock, about golf ball sized clusters. The polyps are about the size of my leathers polyps just shorter, not coming out much farther then the rock surface.
  8. Ya kinda found that out once my large rocks started shifting. Ya normally I do a fair amount of research before starting a new project, I kinda got pushed into the saltwater thing, I started out just watching over the tank till he sold it. Neither of us knew much about the hobby, since taking over the tank I've learn and researched a lot, but like most of us I am still learning everyday.
  9. Is he on here? If so can someone tag him or let me know his screen name. Please and thank you. Would you mind posting or PMing me about the cost/pics don't need to be specific. Just wondering if it would be feasible for me, don't want to waist anyones time.
  10. I hear you on the breaking the bottom. I was planning on using it mainly so the rocks don't slide, in my current tank (72 bow) some of the rocks have shifted due to my cucumbers moving sand around. This is my first dry start tank and put the sand in first then the rock, thought that would distribute the weight best, FAIL! lol. I know better now for the next tank.
  11. So I have gone through several tanks trying to find a good one I liked. Currently I'm restoring a 4' 120 acrylic, which is what I thought I was wanting but after looking and thinking about my stand, I think I want something that will fit my custom made stand better. So to you custom acrylic tank gurus I am looking for ruff cost and ideas on a tank to fit my stand better. My stand is 71.5"W x40.5"H x24"D. My thoughts are a tank 71.5"x 27"x 24", size is based on my height and stand size, I am also looking into a decent rated silent overflow (bean animal?) capable of handling my Jebao DC 12000 at full speed, ~3000gph. Also would like good access to inside of the tank so as big of openings as possible. A ruff estimate is all I'm looking for, I have not committed to switching to another new tank again. Also any ideas (overflow style? close loop? round corners?) are welcome. If there is any other info I should post also let me know, usually on here daily. Thanks in advance.
  12. Rock work looks nice man. I like what you did with the egg crate on the bottom, I had that idea also for when I set up my next tank. Are you planning on just putting sand over the egg crate or going "bare bottom", sorry if you had already said and I missed it?
  13. I've got devils hand leather, GSP, and a small frag of pink birds nest.
  14. I have some Devil's hand and GSP Also a Small frag of Pink birds nest, if you're in the Salem/Stayton area.
  15. I would say engineer goby, young.

    ID please

Looks awesome! I'll take one. lol. Don't care about the name.
  17. I rent my place so my only cost is filter replacement. My tap water quality is actually pretty good here and pressure is 80-90psi from tap, TDS into my RODI unit is 19-21 same filters for around a year (DI is running out finally) with 0 TDS output. Haven't measured it out yet but I'm thinking I'm getting about a 2:3 good to bad ratio, my 50 gpd unit will fill my 44 gal brute can over night. My unit has a floot auto shut off on it so I just start it before bed and its usually filled when I get up in the morning.
  18. I have seen pictures of people using it and makes a lot of colors pop. I've heard that white sand reflects a lot of the light back up to the corals.
  19. I usually run my Alk right around 11.5-12.5, Ph is 8-8.4, I think I have pretty decent coloring pink birds nest is bright pink acro is purple with bright green polyps. The only coral I've noticed not coloring out like it should is my German blue polyp, it has browned out and the polyps are greenish. Haven't had much problems with pumps or power heads, but I usually run them in a vinegar bath bi-monthly along with our coffee maker.
  20. I use a power inverter from my car also, I have a power strip dedicated to just my return pump, skimmer and heater. Haven't had to use it with the new (higher power) skimmer but it worked last time I needed it.
  21. I have a little Cheato/calurpa/saw blade I could spare.
  22. Pics? I'm interested in a rose anemone, cleaner shrimp, ricordia, and flower pot.
  23. Is the rock one piece or multiple?
