Looking for opinions on dosing vodka or diy nopox.
Lexinverts replied to city hunter's topic in Reef Chemistry
In my experience, both vodka and NoPox dosing take down your nitrate rapidly and don't reduce phosphate very much. If you use either of these to reduce your nitrates, make sure that you also use something, like GFO or Lanthanum chloride, to bring your phosphate down as well. Low nitrate and high phosphate can lead to all sorts of problems. -
I think must be the 'Manilla Spy.' Cool! Where did you get it?

I don't think many people have it. It was never really distributed while Jake was alive. Now ACI aquaculture has it, so it should start to show up at retailers within a year or so.

Be careful, as Paletta had to fight a dino outbreak after using his high dose.

Have you done a water change recently? I would try a large water change and then follow up with a ICP Mass Spec from Oceamo. If you are doing the cipro treatment, perhaps do this after the last Cipro dose.

To give you a sense of what happens with space, take a look at my aquascape 3 yrs ago, and then today.

I would probably choose B, since your rock is more spread out and you are growing sticks that will reach out and touch each other. Both options look great.

@reefrun I uploaded my presentation slides to this post. You can download the Captiv8 ICP calculator tool here: https://www.captiv8aquaculture.com/copy-of-captiv8-home You can purchase supplements and the $20 trace element pack that I mentioned here: https://www.saltwateraquarium.com/reef-blueprint-isol8-minor-and-trace-element-pack-100g-captiv8-aquaculture/ You can purchase Oceamo ICP tests here 1) ICP-OES: https://andremueller.e-junkie.com/product/1758006/Reef-Moonshiner26230393Bs-ICP-OES-Test 2 ICP-MS https://andremueller.e-junkie.com/product/1758008/Reef-Moonshiner26230393Bs-ICP-MS-Test As I said at the meeting, you can use any ICP test for the trace element calculator. Travis/Upscales carries the ATI ICP test and other local stores also carry ATI or Triton. Any one of these will work. My own preference is Oceamo because they offer Mass Spec analysis as well as standard ICP. I'm happy to answer answer questions in this thread. Please tag me so I see it. If we didn't edit the original post, the thread would get really long. We can make sure that we also send a PM when we update the list.

Let's talk about this on Sunday. We'll get it sorted.

@islandVib3s did we get a new thread up yet?

Hi All, We're going to have a brief presentation and Q&A on dosing trace elements based on ICP results at 2:00 PM during the Upscales Fish and Reptiles club meeting. The meeting will run from 1-3 PM. I'll be discussing how I use ICP results and Captiv8/Reefblueprint products to tweak the trace elements on the below mixed reef. I hope to see many of you there! Also, don't forget about the raffles and group buys at the meeting. You won't want to miss it! Links to posts on Raffles and Group Buys at the meeting.
