    Thank you!

I used to dose both but no need for that since I added the last 7 fish. I guess I haven't removed them yet.

I change 1.5 gallons a day but I should note that I also change water every now and then when I clean out the sump, just a compartment at the time between 5-10 gallons.

Good to know!  A fish is more fun than a jug of nitrates :)

What levels are you targeting for alk/calc/mag/nitrate/phospate if I may ask?

I totally get that. You should be able to edit your posts as a supporting member and just add to the original post.  You should be able to delete your own thread.

@SuncrestReef @TheClark let me know if this is the case but I believe so.

I was thinking the same, but went and double checked.  It looks like deleting a topic you started still would require a moderator.  A quick request to any of the moderators should do the job.

Keep in mind there are vibrations as the pump runs, as the manifold clicks into different positions, and as it stirs the reaction chamber.  All those vibrations can cause small movements over time until a tube pops off.

    Zip ties?

Not gonna mess with mine, but makes you go hmmmm.....

  4. Yes!!

    I am getting one!

Known Daniel for years, trustworthy and great asset for the reef community.

Tech looks spot on, going to run it on my son's 60 gallon cube.  He loves that tank, might as well make it as good as possible.

I have a sky also, which is definitely nice but that side glare...

Otherwise I run 6 Ocean Revives, most have the white spectrum replaced with more blues and violets.  That also works well but gets tiring to maintain...

  5. AutoTopoff makes some nice ones that are ready to hook up to APEX with the breakout box:

I like the dual on this site for my mid switch, its quick and easy to wire up.  The lower float controls the ATO pump, the upper float triggers alarm and shuts off ATO.

You can also buy these straight from amazon but autotopoff is a great site and Amazon is like 8 days in our area right now to deliver <GASP>

Been out of the game for a few years what would you guys say is the best ato for a bigger tank.

Your APEX is your best ATO JR.  We can set it up together.  You just need to grab some floats.  I run three double floats, low, normal and high.  That enables all kinds of conditions to check and redundancies.

  7. They claim with the Phillips technology, no loss of par, interesting.  And even with a reduced par, acros grow better with diffused light than focused.

    FWIW... interesting!

PAR Uniformity of a Flat Light Field – Philips’ patented light mixing technique used in the SKY LED is incredibly effective at creating a very uniform field of light both in terms of color mixing and lighting intensity. There is no question that having a more diffused and even distribution of light with light rays hitting our three dimensional corals from every direction will result in better growth, especially in densely branching colonies such as AcroporaSeriatopora, and many species of light hungry SPS corals.

For years LED light makers boasted about peak PAR numbers by concentrating the light given off by LEDs through the use of secondary lenses that beam light mostly downwards. Over the years we’ve learned that an Acro will grow much better in a diffused light field of 200 umols/m2/s coming from every direction than it will under highly directional light with a PAR value of 400 umols/m2/s so we really need to take this into consideration when evaluating PAR values of the SKY LED and comparing these to other fixtures.
