  1. Fyi, I've talked with Leonardo and I've got the parts he needs, however, he's trying to plumb from a HOB overflow. I offered to give him a drill style overflow and even drill it for him. I found the overflow in my parts bin and it's ready for him. I think we can call off the dogs on this post for now. I'm going to help him get a reliable overflow or give him one of my drilled 40b's. If we run into supply or parts issues, maybe I'll reach out on this post. :). Community to the rescue on this one.
  2. Be prepared to pay respectable prices.
  3. The sad truth is that if they die, they will just get more. If you get them to rescue them, they will just get more. Petco is an unstoppable cruelty machine. If somebody has the ability to medicate/revive/quarantine these fish, then go for it - but you're only dooming the next set of fish. The longer these fish suffer, the fewer fish have to die. Hurts me to say, but it's the truth.
  4. Soon as that tank is ready, I have a nem for ya - I'm in/near Aurora.
  5. This is the one I am using. There are different voltage options, but this brand has served me well. https://www.ebay.com/itm/121431722174?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=ltnnmwULS4W&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=LHXJLXUtR-m&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY Some wiring will be necessary.
  6. I use solenoid valves for mine and it works great. With the apex, I use the 24v 1link accessory ports to control them. I also have a 110v one that I control with a normal outlet. Pretty simple. Just make sure the valve you get is normally closed and not normally open.
  7. If you have the quarantine tank setup to fully medicate this fish and sanitize it, then go for it I guess, but.... If you don't, let it die. They'll just get another one to kill if you buy it. The longer it "lives" in their tanks, the longer it takes untill they order a new dead-fish-swimming. Petco is absolutely gross.
  8. Exactly, that's probably just the stuff that came off of the equipment. It gets stirred into solution, then settles out on the top. Depending on how cheap I'm feeling, sometimes I just dump the whole bucket and start over. But if you're wanting to save it, just pour off the scum and keep on using it. I will say that the more you use it, the less the cleaning reaction will be, since most of the cleaning properties involve it being an acid and any acidic reaction neutralizes the acid a bit.
  9. Well that doesn't sound great. Want a rainbow?
  10. Not everything counts as a dissolved solid or can be tested as such. Chlorine and ammonia (chloramine) tend to not show on a TDS test. TDS is just a conductivity test.
  11. Anemones are very resilient. Get your water in check and it's likely to recover if it's still that big and attached. If it detaches, however, start worrying. Let me know if it chokes, I'll give you a new rose or rainbow.
  12. Title is mostly clickbait, but... I've been living on Portland water (or at least chloramine infested city water) for my 16-17 years of reef experience. RODI takes everything out though, right? I call BS. I just moved to farmland and am on a well. I just put the SAME RODI UNIT on the well water and I've been running my tank on it since. My tank has never been more successful. I waited a month to post anything because it could have just been the 80% water change. I moved two tanks. All fed from the same RODI unit. Everything is puffy, coral are all happy, anemones are nuts and not randomly splitting thus far, etc. My RODI unit is as follows: source well water (from water softener) --> dual high flow sediment filter (cheap amazon ones) --> GE Sediment filter --> BRS universal carbon block --> BRS universal carbon block --> chloraguard carbon block --> DOW 75gpd membrane x2 (parallel) --> anion resin --> cation resin --> mixed bed resin --> product water. Pre move: source city water --> dual high flow sediment filter (cheap amazon ones) --> GE Sediment filter --> BRS universal carbon block --> BRS universal carbon block --> DOW 75gpd membrane x2 (parallel) --> anion resin --> cation resin --> mixed bed resin --> product water. TLDR is that the only change is the city water and that I removed the chloramine specific carbon block at the new location. Thoughts? --Micah
  13. I have a waterbox 15 peninsula that I upgraded to a 20 cube from. Not sure what it's worth though, so you'd have to figure that out. No scratches, pretty clean. Includes a return pump, all of the basic stuff that came with it. I could probably include a RedSea reefled 50 if you were interested (and my wife will let it all go). We just moved, so it's likely on the chopping block. Let me know.
  14. Well, good news! With @obrien.david.j's help and a couple other friends, I think I have enough people for the move! Fingers crossed for a smooth move.
  15. I really don't want to move 150+ gallons of water. I think I may be able to do it without that though... I just need to fill some buckets with top off water while i move my RODI to the new house and make some water. The fish will be in a stock tank. Of which I have another 100gal stock tank. Alrighty, I think I talked myself out of needing another RODI. Moving is confusing and sucks.
  16. Anybody have a 5-ish stage RODI that I can borrow for say.... 50-100 gallons? I'd need it VERY soon and it would be on city water (appx 14 TDS). I'm in SW Portland and will drive as far as Beaverton, NoPo, or Wilsonville. Let me know! Thanks, Micah
  17. Will do, thanks. I have the suction cups as well, borrowed from Jeff. I may even be able to borrow a flatbed trailer.
  18. I need about 100 or so gallons, so I'm going to start getting water made at the new house today/tonight (waiting on some plumbing parts) I just want water made here so I don't have to move a ton of it. I have a 100 gallon stock tank I can fill
  19. Yeah, I was thin on the details. Date/Time - Sunday - earlyish/tbd I am really rushing to make enough water to get this done too, so it may end up having to be pushed to next weekend - or mid-week if possible. Honestly, whenever I can enough help and have the water made.
  20. Well, I'm not seeming to find enough resources for this move... I may have to push the move. Starting to worry a little. I need more strong friends.
  21. Hanna copper is well worth it. What are you using the copper for? Ich management or eradication?
