  1. I'm with Matty on this. One reason there have been no fights is the reduced traffic on the site. If I start a discussion, and decide I've heard enough, I should be able to close my own thread. If someone else wants to have the same or a similar discussion they are welcome to start their own. This is especially important in classified threads. Being able to edit a classified thread enables the seller to delete sold items and still keep the thread active with other items for sale. There is a rule that if you have more than one item for sale they must all be in the same thread. If you have a bunch of items for sale the thread can, and does get rather cluttered.
  2. I got a call from my credit card company last month shading if I bought anything from Verizon in Georgia. I said no. They cancelled my card and sent me a new one overnight. I was wondering how that happened. Just one more reason to buy local if you can.
  3. This is me and Jenn, Sideline at Autzen for the Washington Oregon game!
  4. What difference does that make? How does that advance the topic?
  5. First lets review. We are a club that is focused on marine, or saltwater aquaria. This makes us inherently tied to the ocean, not the fresh (?) water of the Columbia river. If you don't want to participate, then by all means stay away. Second, while your opinion is welcome, the way you put it makes it rather abrasive and seem rude and unfriendly. Third, while some may agree with Jesse's option of a refund, that's just not the way it works. Being in Eugene, any of the options listed in the poll would be quite a drive for me as well. I could whine and ask why Florence was not listed as an option, but instead I just accept that I am on the southern fringe of the clubs demographic base. Many who know me will attest that I have driven far and wide to participate in activities of this club as well as buy, sell, trade, and sometimes just deliver for others things that they have bought, sold or traded with other members. Sorry Andrew that this thread has turned into another drama fest. We now return you to your regularly scheduled poll.............................
  6. Probably too soon. If wait about six months. Sorry. When you are ready I have ten in my 39 cube. All roses.
  7. Any peristolic pump will work. Think dosing pump. They won't siphon, and had pressure isn't in issue.
  8. Good for you for quarantining your fish. You won't regret it down the road.
  9. Looking good Matt. Turn up the heat a bit though. Let me know when your ready to start that qt.
  10. If I'm seeing this right you have an overflow on each side at the top and two return nozzles towards the center at the top. I would try aiming each of the returns towards the outside wall to create a swirl from outside towards the center. If you need additional flow add a power head on either side pointed behind the rockwork and aimed horizontally. This should cause some flow through the arch in the middle as well as disrupt the swirl and give some nice turbulence. I'm also seeing some kind of probe, temp maybe, on the right side of the tank attached with a suction cup. I would put that in the back chamber of the AIO just to hide it. Otherwise I'm liking the look of the rock structure. Nice job.
  11. I have two mp-40's I opposite ends I a 4' tank about two thirds up the glass. Party of what you want with flow is some surface agitation. If you have enough flow to get that, and avoid dead spots, you will be fine. You could try a Powerhead low in the tank pointed up. That would cause the water to be pulled from the lower part of the water column and forced to the surface. This would nice water low in the tank without blasting the sand.
  12. Not too much flow, Just aimed at the sandbed.
  13. The t-247's have a built in timer but are only on and off. Manual dimming. The Reefstar's have a ramp up / ramp down feature on the controller. A little more money but it gives you the sunrise sunset feature. I have the T-247's on my frag tank and the Reefstar's on my display. Also, check with Kenny at Reefstar about his trial program where he will loan you a fixture to try out over your tank before you buy. He's the only vendor out there that I know of that will do that.
  14. I would rethink some of the rockwork and get them away from the glass at least enough to get a magfloat between the rocks and the glass. Will make cleaning the glass possible. Other than that it looks good.
  15. LPS tank would be cool but with high nutrients I would put a blind over the window to the right or you will be fighting algae till the day you take the tank down. Or you could do a nem garden with lots of different varieties of nems.
  16. It had probably done all it's going to do after 48 hours. Do your water change and get in with life. Your skimmer will continue to go berserk until you do the water change. I like to do more than 20%, but that's just me.
  17. Did you do at least a 20% water change?
  18. I'm confused. Are you still feeding your tank with no fish? Also the results of phosphate tests will often site zero if the algae in the tank is consuming it faster than it is being produced. I would not feed the fallow tank, manually remove add much of the algae as possible, and add some trochus snails and maybe some red legged hermits for algae control. Also reduce photo period.
  19. Try some live black worm, blood worms, or white worms. Live foods often entice picky eaters to stay eating when they are stressed.
  20. My copperband butterfly has been very effective at aptasia control. But he also likes acans.
  21. This is probably too big for tanks for teachers. If you really would like to stay I the hobby, take the advise of those who have responded, a dehumidifier, small steps to reduce evaporation, etc. DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT give this away for free. If people want a system like this, they will pay for it. Think of it as a rehoming fee for your pets. You don't have to make a profit, but giving it away is kind of silly.

    I need teeth!

Actually a router with a straight 3/16" straight bit and a dovetail jig would probably be a good bet. I'm sure somebody had these laying around. A laminate trimmer, small light, easier to handle than a full sized router would also be a good option. I've got all the above, except the jig but it's a long way to travel.

    I need teeth!

You could always show some patience and ask for help before you finish the project. Or take Bill up on his offer to help now.
  24. Next time you get to Eugene look me up. I need to harvest some.
