  1. Picked up the Nem from The premium Aquarium along with two pink skunk clowns that dont go more than an inch from it. The tank is 36x24x24, I am not sure of the tanks original origins I picked it up for free from a forum member who had it sitting out on his back deck for a winter. After getting it I took off the rim, tore it down and resembled it adding a glass euro brace in place of the top rim as well as drilling it and building a glass external bean animal overflow with a 3/4" shallow internal overflow.
  2. I got the new led's installed and light is up and running. I am very happy with how it looks, now just to wait and see how all the corals respond. On an unrelated not I rearranged the column after picking up this beautiful anemone.
  3. I have had good luck buying little baby chromis and let them grow up together. My theory is that way they can sort out the group pecking order as they mature, rather than dropping a bunch of mature chromis into a tank all at once with them all wanting and thinking they are the top dog and slowly eliminating each other one by one. I don't think chromis in general slowly die off because they aren't hardy I think it has more to do with aggression within the group. JMO
  4. I am sure you can do it with sand but you would probably dissolve half the sand along with the organics. I am just speculating never actually tried it.
  5. For right now I just run the CO2 into the intake bulkhead for the canister filter and by the time it goes through the filter and comes back it is all absorbed. I am looking into running a inline atomizer for it that way I can keep all equipment out of the tank which was one of my main goals when I started the tank
  6. Ask and Receive 7g Starfire Cadlights, DIY led, pressurized CO2, running canister in closed loop through bulkheads, around 2 months old any comments welcome it is my first freshwater and I dont pretend to know what I am doing at all
  7. Here is the layout of the newest nanobox pucks, he is the only manufacture currently using the lime led's that i am aware of. Which for me is a must to attain the colors I want out of my corals and still have the tank look the way I want it to. V3 - Nano Box Array consists of : 2 - SEMILED Violet CH1 2 - REBEL ES Lime CH2 1 - Rebel Cyan CH3 1 - Rebel Blue CH3 4 - Luxeon T Royal Blue CH4 3 - Luxeon T Neutral White & Warm White CH2
  8. running a giesemann infinity fixture that was originally 4x 24" T5 1x250w MH, i have been running it with two radion gen1 pucks with a custom diode layout retrofitted into the fixture. I am now removing the MH components entirely and the radion pucks and am going to rework the fixture to run the 4 nanobox led pucks pictured and the existing 4xT5s. I also went through the unit when I originally got it and replaced the T5 ballasts with new units the same as ATI uses in thier fixtures because it had 220v ballasts and ran an external transformer to work in the US. Here is a picture of it before I tear into it again. here it is above my 40 breeder in stock configuration I am using a 6CH bluetooth PMW controller from Reef Led Lab and Meanwell LDD drivers on the internals to control everything.
  9. Changing up the lighting a little bit.

  11. new FTS shots of the system
  12. Conch snails are laying eggs
  13. If you want a lower cost option you could just run your skimmer on a relay connected to a float switch in the sump just mount the switch just above your regular sump water level that way if your sump water level raises say more than an inch higher than normal it will kill the skimmer. It would require one more float switch than my solution because its not tied into a controller but would be way cheaper and still accomplish the same thing Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk
  14. Probably not much help but I have my controller set to turn my skimmer outlet off if my high level float switch for the ATO is activated. Not sure how you could stop it from happening without a controller of some sort other than having a recirculating skimmer where water level doesn't matter Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk
  15. It'a most likely a Stylophora subseriata which grow a little more open and random then Stylophora pistillata
  16. looks like a green stylophora to me. I had one with green polyps like that and a pink base that I lost in my last tank transfer. it was one of my favorite pieces.

  20. Some of the best frags I have seen
  21. Finally got some days off to get some more of this build wrapped up. Threw together a float switch/probe holder combo today, not the best work I've done but it will do the job.
  22. The tank has been up for a little over a month and I am already seeing some decent growth. Now to just get my colors dialed in and watch it grow. Everyone likes photos(clap)
