  1. What was I sposed to do leave it there flopping around till it fell off?
  2. Just thought I would give a little up date got the tank set up and water in it have some rock and sand in there now that has been cycling for the last 2 weeks I want to get some more sand and maybe a few smaller peices of live rock to put in. I am working out the kinks in the over flow trying to get it as silent as possible. Also I think I am going to have to get rid of the skimmer it might work great in a garage frag tank but it is way to loud for my livingroom. I also will need to figure out just where I am going to stick all my power cords and what not. I was thinking that some time next week or so I would make the transfer from the little cube to the new tank.
  3. 14 gallon Biocube small air driven protien skimmer lighting is 4 ecoxotic stunner strips 2 453 blue 2 8,000k tank is 5 months old no dosing just weekly water changes.(clap) I did have a small misshap in transport and knocked the fram free of the plug and had to reglue it this morning.(booboo) 2-20-12 3 polyps
  4. It took every scrap of felf control I had not to sign up for this (nutty). I am gald it is full now (laugh)
  5. Those pictures are stunning. I guess if you are keeping healthy corals like that there is no need for the ro unit eh=)
  6. Thats looking good heres to continued success (drinking)
  7. Thanks it is a pacific coast imports. Near as i can tell it is rated at 200 gal it works really well but does put out some crazzy micro bubbles which is why i put the filters over the outlet.
  8. Just an up date on the system I did some work on the sump added a chamber for the fuge. I also got all my plumbing roughed in I have not glued it yet. My pump is a rio 2100 I believe it has 693 gph. I built a manifold that dpilts it 2 ways with a third t to be used for water changes or a reactor later on. one line will feed a hydor rotating head and the other will be going to some lock line in the other corner. Both are 1/2 inch lines. The main drain is a 1 inch line going to the the filter sock I have a ball valve on there to control the flow to create a 100% syphon. I will also be using a emergency drain as back up that will go as straight as posible to the sump. I ran a test of the protien skimmer and she works like a champ =) This might be over kill but beats the pants off the little 4 inch air stone driven skimmer I am running on my cube now! I just need to finish my hood for the lights and glue the plumbing then will be ready to leak test the system. Hope to have salt water in it by the end of the week unless work gets in my way =)
  9. Looks like your water is clearing up nicely. Those look like some happy fish =)
  10. Very nice set up =) Thanks for sharing pictures of you awesome tank. I am a sucker for cubes.
  11. Her are a couple of pictures of my rockin stand I built I am still building the hood and getting my lights mounted. Figuring out the plumbing and buffing out scratches but its coming along =) My wife had a great idea to start my sand and extra rock cycling in a 10gal to help with the tank transition. I am sure I will be in need of more rock but have 10lbs of rock and 20 more pounds of sand cycling in the 10. My cube has about 10-15 pounds of sand and about 15 pounds of rock so i should be close but we will see =)
  12. 24x15x20 the over flow is 12x3.5x10 I figure with the sump and once I have rock and sand in there I will have about 30 gallons of water which is almost 4 times what I have in my biocube 14 right now =)
  13. That was a real clincher for me was the fact that it had a sump 20x12x15 with a working capacity of 8 gallons. Also the external over flow was a huge bonus =)
  14. The time has come. I am uppgrading from my Biocube 14 to a 31 gallon acryllic. External over flow sump protien skimmer the whole nine yards. The tank came with a 4 bulb T5 ho that I rill be using in conjunction with my four ecoxotic stunner strips. Here are some pictures of the set up when I brought it home. Now the tank needs some work. There are some scratches that I will need to buff out. I will also need to redo some of the plumbing. Not sure if I have the roomin the over flow to do a bean animal but would like to try. I will also be building a hood to match the stand I already have built. I will also be rewiring the lights so I can mount them in the neww hood. Also will need to clean off all the equipment as it has been sitting for almost a year. So hear we go wish me luck =)
  15. Thats Awesome. I really want to add a sump to my nano but I did not have the fore sight to drill it ahead of time. Cant wait to see how this turns out =)
  16. Tanks looks sweet really nice set up. I did notice in your video that at about 59sec you can see the intake on the ac70 seems to have some air in it that might be the cause of your noise you had mentioned earlier. Any how every thing looks great and that little wrasse seems to be very Happy in there =)
  17. Yeah and its extremely slippery as well =) Cant wait to see some pictures of the tank up and running.
  18. Looking good. I would love to see a build thread on this one, get all the nitty gritty details about whats making it run and the corals inside it. =)
  19. Tank is lookin great . Are you sure you have enough light though =) just had to say it.
  20. Glad to see you stuck with it , alot of people might have gotten discouraged after a year and their tank is not where they want it to be and covered in algae. Between the water changes and the clean up crew sounds like you are on the right track =)
  21. Hot dog thats lookin good. Those zoas in that last shot are amazing =)
  22. I use Kent mostly because I only buy the smaller cantainers 50g at a time and kent packages their 50g in a jug with a screw on cap. Hands down better then dealing with a bag that no matter how hard you try ends up getting moisture in it and clumping up. =) and kent has gotten good reviews from fellow reefers that I have talked to.

    Struglin Chalice

The spot I am looking at is sw of the corline in the shot above. I kinda figured when the corline started growing on the skelleton there was not much hope of recovery, but you never know right I dont know but you sre probly right aboutthe coraline.

    Struglin Chalice

I got this frag of a unknown varity of chalice from a club member it was in his tank and the critters in there kept flipping it over face down in the sand. He gave it to me there were not many signs of life in it at the time. I brought it home about 2 months ago, and had simmilar problems every morning it was in a diffent spot face down in the sand thought maybe the little frag had a drinking problem. So the little life it di have seemed to die off and I thought ti was dead , I got some epoxy and attached it to some rock in a secluded area of my tank this was about 3 weeks ago. Now I am starting to see some signs of life I think but I dont know if this is the chalice coming back to life or just some hitch hiker taking over the dead skelleton. It was realy hard to get a clear picture but after a few hour of tinkering I finally got a simi decent shot Tell me what you think is this a challice on the rebound or is it something else growing on the dead skelleton? Thanks for looking =)
