Got some new goodies today I will have to wait till tomorrow to post pictures But I was really stoked so I thought I would post now. I got my frag pack at rose city came with a hammer green base purple tips what I am pretty sure is a war coral of some sort about 5" across and a chunk of rock with 150 polyps at least of gorilla nipples this one also came with a brittle star attached to it. I also recently got a new K1 pump from kenny rplaced my dying oceanic pump woot the extra flow is much appreciated by my corals and am hoping it will help me with my recent resurgence of cyano. It comes it goes I had it wooped in the biocube before I transfered to this system then about a week ago here it comes rearing its ugly head. I am almost to the point of chemical warfare but not quite my out breaks are small and I seem to be able to beat them with more frequent water changes =)I have also started to dose some alk to help keep it up I have been getting more stony corals which I hope will help with my high calcium. I have my temp under control with the led switch and the fact that I had to go topless for the Par lamp. Speaking of the par lamp I am really loving this new par56 lamp. The corals seem to have really taken a liking to it as well should be getting a lot of growth from every thing in my tank. I will fill in the blanks when I get more pics tomorrow =)

Top notch you pulled out all the stops on this pico build. Very Clean well thought out. Not at all what one would expect of a Pico pest tank. You get two thumbs up from me on this one =)

Next time you are having lunch with Elvis you can tell him that your "all shook up" about loosing the tec frag to a rookie reefer (laugh)

I think that As long as you are getting a reading of zero at the base of the frag you can do it as you please. however if you would like to place it at the base of the ruler and start with a handicap by all means dont let me get in your way =)

Ok Here we go. I am running a 31gal tank with a roughly 10gal sump Marineland skimmer fuge with macro and a mountain of frag plugs as rubble. For flow I have a 600gph return and a 295gph maxi jet with a hydor rotating head and a ocianic 250gph. I have abot 30pounds of sand and about the same in live rock. My lighting is 4x 6watt ecoxotic stunner strips and 1x Par56 from ReefStar. I dont dose any thing in my system I just do water changes at 5 gallons a week and top of with ro water from upscales. I feed my corals whatever the fish are eating which is a home made medly of seafoods from the local market and I also give them Cyclopseze. I do not directly target feed my corals. My Frag is placed half way up my rock work but directly under the Par56 lamp. The frag is the little guy in the center with a snail on it =) Here is the Grow out measurement I had to move it to the sand to take this pick because I cant measure it where it is sitting in the rock work. I would also like to add that I think they put to much lead in the paint when they made my plastic ruller because I dropped it in my tank and it sank like a rock. Lead will make my corals grow faster right?

Thats what I was thinking if it is to good to be true then it probabaly is but I figured it was worth trying and if I dont get any better results then it is back to the half priced chemipure elite=)

So yesturday I got my order of Clear Fx PRO from Blue Life it is sposed to be a bigger badder version of chemipure elite. I saw it on mr saltwater tank and decided to give it a try as my chemipure was due to be changed. Her is what they have to say about it on there web site. Just wondering if any one else is using this product and what their results are. I have never had any nitrite nitrate phosphate problems in my tank in fact I also have tests of 0 on all of the above my new tank never went through a cycle when I upgraded from my biocube. So I really dont have a acurate way to measure if it is doing any better or worse then the chemipure. I did notice that my corals had better polyp extension this morning my mushrooms were bigger then I have seen them in a while. Chime in if you have used or heard of this product. online reviews were limted and probabaly from employees at blue life. I will up date this over the next few months with how this product is working out for me. I should mention it is twice as much as chemipure elite.(popcorn)

Yes I was very happy with the light spread and intensity. It really does seem to be a cleaner light.

So I had a demo from Epic1 with Reefstar Led. He showed me several of his lighting options and how they would look over my tank and spent time explaining the pros and cons of what I was looking at. After his awesome demo I picked out his new par56 lamp. I was not sold on the par lamps after my experience with the par 38 from ecoxotic. How ever the par 56 has great spread and little to no color banding that I have seen with other par lamps. I am still using my stunner stips on the tank to light the edges but the par56 does all of the heavy lifing in the middle where the higher light corals are. Before T5 and Stunner strips total 120 watts of lighting After par56 and stunner strips 45 watts of lighting The T5s put out a lot of heat which I am no longer dealing with also the water has a crispness that you really have to see to believe. I am very impressed with the quality of this light and would recomend it to people with tanks 30 gal or less looking to go led and not break the bank =)

So I added some 6.5 pounds of more live rock to the tank today which should put me up over the 30 pound mark . Before After I also picked up a new goodie for my tank tonight Pictures to come soon (naughty)

I could definitely fit into the bad picture takers club =)

Thanks for the tips I am gonna put these into action and get the temp stable I think I found part of the problem one of the oceanic power heads has been going out and I think its time to get some korila nanos instead. I would get an mp10 but my wife might kill me for spending more on a pump then I did on the tank =)

I was shocked last night I tested the water it was 83 I put a fan in the stand blowing over the sump and I raised the hood up a bit so it is not sitting right on top of the tank. I checked both 50w heatersand they have not been kicking on my first though was that they were malfunctioning. after the changes my tank was still 80 this morning. a chiller is out of the budget any tips for dropping the temp of my water would be great thanks =)

So yeah the clowns dont want anything to do with any of my corals. I have seen them fluttering around in the sand quite a bit though. They realy like my hawk fish its like some kind of strange love triangle that they have going on. I will often seen the three of them just hanging out with no aggresion. However every time I try and snap a picture of it they move apart like I walked in on a private moment they were having (laugh)
