  1. You might want to try sps down the road so its a good idea to Plan ahead and get the 8 bulb. IMO this hobby just isn't fun if I'm not keeping sps.
  2. Hey I wasn't trying to attack you personally and if I offended you I'm sorry. I'm sure your a great person with a lots to bring to the table and a good asset to the club. I was only trying to help you understand the store a little better and I probably went about in the wrong manner.
  3. Hate or love them they are the arguably the best shop in Oregon at keeping Sps corals. If you don't want to shop there then don't but they have done things in this hobby no other shop can say.
  4. Have you ever heard of the Oregon tort? Do you know why they call It the Oregon tort? It is possibly the bluest, nicest looking tort in the hobby. There's a cool story behind that coral that involves upscales.
  5. That's the thing. They have Sps that you can't find at any retail store or online. Infact there are Sps corals they have single handily made into a house hold name.
  6. Theres a legacy behind that store that you don't know about. Its not what he has at the moment it what his store has been doing for the past 15 years. Fish are fish no one cares about fish, any lfs can get any fish and some have ick and some dont, but the thing he did with sps not to many stores can say that.
  7. I'm sorry but woody dosen't hold a candle to what upscales has done with sps. They are in a whole other class as far is corals. Woody is a great guy and most the lfs are but they don't have what upscales has.
  8. Do you know any history of upscales? They have been in this hobby selling fish and corals longer then some people in this site have been alive. They have made some o the biggest advances in this hobby that 90% of the lfs you see can't say. most of the lfs in Oregon look up to Travis as he has pioneer Sps keeping in Oregon. Upscale is probably the most recognized reef store to ever come out of oregon. If any in this hobby know anythings about anything it's upscales.
  9. I don't understand how people don't have rodi units. Don't you want to pick the salt to use with you tank? Most lfs use cheaper salt an sometimes you noticed better results with higher end salts. I cant think how I would cart around 20 gallon weekly from the lfs to support my tank. Lol
  10. Swf is a lot better store. I have never bought water but overall I like swf more.
  11. If the w on the controller lights up its wireless.
  12. Oh man that sucks man, I kinda of know how you feel. When swapping systems I lost some larger colonies and the funniest part was I lost all the colonies that I had for the longest time. One thing I thought about was to just use my display tank as the quarantine tank instead of setting up a separate tank. With this method I would take all acros out weekly an dip and turkey baste for 5-6 weeks and see where it goes. when you take all your acros out and put them into a completely different environment with different flow, different lighting things stress and when your dipping them weekly things can take negitive turns. The good thing for your case is you Have back ups of all your Prized coloines. Did you ever end up testing for ammonia?
  13. Look on RC they have them all the time.
  14. Is that a bubble counter? Is that kalkwasser or calcium recator media in there?
  15. Did you see my post? The radium 150w and 250w are BOTH HQI. The 400w is not. The 250w radium is manufactured in germany and the closet ballast we have in the USA that will run the bulb to spec is an m80.
  16. The 400w radium is not an hqi bulb. The 250w and 150w are both hqi bulbs and are designed to run off an hqi ballasts. The 400w radium is not designed to run off an hqi ballast. The proper ballast for 400w is an eballast, the hqi ballast will serverly over drive the bulb and shorten the life.
  17. Please keep in mind that radiums will change color slightly over time. After 5 months I can notice a whiter light then before. If your looking for a great mh bulb just pull the trigger, you will love the radiums. I would stay away from the 150w. 250w or 400w would be the best pick since those are what made radiums so famous with that amazing color.
