  1. Bump....(naughty) I have 6 Toadstool frags left and some 3-4 Pulsating Xenia frags, I will be taking everything that is left into portland and trading it in this saturday, let me know by Friday if your interested...
  2. Thanks everyone... Well, we have hit a snag....after much argueing, it looks as though we cannot come to an agreement, I wanted everything to be the same, same lighting, same filtration, leaving just the design of the inside of the tank to the individual, but we couldn't come to an agreement... so...we have changed the original "rules", Amanda wants T5 lighting, I want Metal Halides, She has her own ideas for filtration and so do I, so....Basically the only thing that will be the same will be the size of the tank...LOL(laugh) We both have a 40g Breeder...everything else, lighting, filtration, corals, fish, ect.ect...will be up to the individual person...may the best person win.... We will keep everyone updated as the build progresses...Thanks everyone for your replies...
  3. Congrats! Can't wait to see the pics....curious why your going from Acrylic to Glass...same size tank though right?
  4. Well the final showdown has begun, after "Trying" to share our first 40g Column tank it didn't take long before Amanda (my wife) took over the "Frag Tank" and made it her own little Nano, but one can only do so much with a 15g nano....So, As any good relationship goes, things have to be equal right?(laugh) I have never done a "Build Thread" before, I always think of it after the fact, we have thought long and hard about getting one big tank, and giving the whole share the tank thing a try again, but we chose to go ahead and do a couple of 40g breeders instead. We are both very competitive with each other, so this will be interesting. This is what we are going to do...We are going to have just about everything the same, same lighting, same sized tank, same filtration, the only thing that will be different is what goes into our tanks, meaning how we do the aquascaping, what corals we put in there, what fish we get, ect..ect.. We will give ourselves say 1 year to finish our "Designs"...after that year we will take pictures of each of our tanks and post them for a vote of who likes which tank better, we won't say which tank is who's, the winner gets to go out and buy whatever peice of coral they want, and gets bragging rights of King (or Queen) of the Reef in our house.... Anyway...so here is the first pics...I know whoowee(scratch) not much to see yet...but I plan on documenting EVERY little step of this Dueling Build... Bringing home the Tanks... Next step..build custom stands for them.... Meanwhile here are a couple of tank pics of our current tanks...
  5. Share the Love Share the Love(clap)
  6. Anyone Interested? I need to clear these frags out soon...next stop is a shop if they want them....and I am sure some shop will want them....disreguard the prices I posted...I am just looking for good homes...I can bring them to the PNWMAS meeting in a few weeks....Let me know... Willing to trade for Cheato too...lol
  7. You know, I have experienced something simular... Its wierd as I get this urge to NEED to dose, I think its that idea that its supposed to be good for your corals, so I should do it...I have Calcium, Strontium and Magnesium, and Iodine....but honestly when I dose per the bottles instructions it seems to slow things down.... I went for a time without dosing anything....like you almost purposely neglecting my tank, things seemed to spring to life...while I don't advocate neglecting your tank, I do think that there are alot of salesmenship and snake oil products that you don't need for a healthy reef tank... I have once again stopped dosing my tank...and I am going to see what happens...but from my limited experience...it seemed to do better when I didn't dose.... Also I think everyone's opinion varies so much, what might be a major salinity flux to one person, might be a normal water change for the other....lol...
  8. I have started to accumulate some frags and its time to let them go, First up is what I think a very beautiful Toadstool Leather coral, I purchased it as a "Golden" Toadstool, but its a very pretty green cap with tan polyps. These pics are under 14k MH. Here is a pic of the fresh cut frags, they all have now started to grow stalks, I have a couple that are attached to frag plugs, others are attaching to crushed coral so they can easily be glued to the exact spot you want. These are good sized frags, most are at least golf ball sized. Asking $15 each You can see the "Mother" in the background...left I also have good sized frags of Xenia, I have Pulsating and Pom Pom and can provide pics if needed. Pom Pom- $15 each Pulsating- $10 I also have some frags of Kenya Tree Coral that I could include FREE with purchase of anything else, that is if you want it.... We are open to trades, mainly looking for Zoas, Monti Cap frags or Neon/Kryptonite Candy Canes...and can add cash for certain trades...might be open to something else too...you never know... We are willing to meet in the Portland Area, or we can bring them to the PNWMAS meeting at the end of the month....

  13. We are not planning on setting up another tank at the moment, but we got one anyway, I have always wanted to do a 40g Breeder, At least now I have one that I can set up...down the road...I think the depth is what makes it a great tank, Especially for a reef tank...and for $40...can't beat that...Anyone find stands for this size tanks? Our local petco didn't have a stand for the 40g breeder...(plotting)

  18. Wow...Thanks Everyone:D I guess my first guess was correct, These are in my wifes (Amanda) Nano, I have the Florida kind, but never have had the Yuma kind...Its hard to choose which I like better...I kinda like the Florida kind better I think... Thanks for the feedback and confirmation that they are indeed Yuma Ricordia...(drinking) Which kind do you all prefer? Yuma or Florida?
  19. At first I thought these might be Yuma Ricordia, but I don't think they are, I was curious if anyone knew what kind of Mushroom these where...They have a nice yellow/green color to them...

    FRAG RACK

Well, I thought I would post what I am using at that moment, I fragged my Golden ToadStool and got this to use to try out, its a "Betta Condo" used to house 4 Bettas, but instead I just put a frag plug in them and stuck a chunk of Toadstool in there, It allows flow in and out, but the frags can't float away, so far its worked pretty well...its cheap, but only has 4 compartments, but you can take the dividers out and make one big compartment, 2,3 or 4 compartments... Anyway....here is a pic...
