  1. Congrats! Thats awsome...some really cool stuff! So you are the one that won some of those Chalices...Congrats! I was bidding on a few of them...lol
  2. Awsome Thanks for sharing the pic...Now keep them comming..you know practice makes perfect right?(drinking) I would love to try Sea Horses someday...they are really cool...My wife (Amanda) LOVES decorator crabs...they are super cool too...they are so cryptic.
  3. So...I recently was at Kleen ur K9 and Saltwater Supply and was in the mood to buy something...I was talking with the owner about how I liked bright colorful Zoanthids...he mentioned he had some new frags that where really pretty, problem was, all the frags had closed polyps...he assured me they where bright and colorful...so I gave it a shot...This is the first time I had purchased Zoanthids without knowing what they looked like...it was kind of fun..a mystery..and was exciting waiting for them to open up...I couldn't wait to see what they looked like... Well...they have started opening up...and he was correct...they are bright and colorful...The skirt on these are BRIGHT Neon Yellow...I was really excited...I really like them..So I snapped a pic and thought I would share. Has anyone else ever bought Zoanthids on impulse without knowing what they looked like?

    Lights out

I have 3 Toadstools, Zoanthids, Green Star Polyps..and some LPS...and I notice all of them closing at night...The Frogspawn, Torch, and Hammer Corals all retract when the lights go out after a while, the Soft Corals all close up as well. It can take a hour or so for them to all "go to sleep"...and same in the morning...when the lights come on, it can take an hour or so for them to "Wake Up"....But they all seem to have thier "Sleepy" Time.. I personally don't think "Moonlights" provide enough light for them to stay open, I have moonlights on mine too, but when the main light goes off...they start to close up.
  5. Here is another website that calls them both... http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?c=16+2157+2178&aid=2349
  6. Barrier Reef Aquariums puts them in the SPS catagory....as do some other websites...I was just curious....seems some put them in the SPS and some put them in the LPS...I was just curious...as I thought it was wierd to see them listed in both. http://www.barrierreefaquariums.com/productcart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=38&idcategory=4
  7. So...Sorry for the newb question..still learning here(naughty) So I have this "Pagoda Cup Coral" that I believe is Turbinaria peltata, everywhere I read they are under the "LPS" catagory. Now I recently added a "Scroll Coral" (Turbinaria reniformis?) to my tank and upon looking up info on it, I noticed some places list it as a "SPS".... So are Some Turbinaria SPS and some are LPS? I have one that looks like this: http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=597+322+521&pcatid=521 And one that looks like this: http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=597+321+475&pcatid=475 I just used LiveAquaria as that is what came up on my search...but the info I am reading confuses me... For example...Quoted from the website... But they say on the first link..... So...my question is...are there some Turbinaria that are SPS and some that are LPS? I will get pictures this evening...so you guys can see them...
  8. Amazing is an understatement... All I would have needed is a chair and a beer and I would have been in heavin for HOURS(clap) I take that back...I don't think I could sit in chair...the tank is so big I must have walked back and forth a dozen times:eek: Very Beautiful The toughest part is comming home to my little 40g(sad)(plotting)
  9. Just picked up a frag of awsome frogspawn from Calvin, I wanted to thank him for his time, and showing us his beautiful and amazing aquarium, Was gracious enough to be ok with a change in plans as I was passing through at a different time than I had mentioned. Great to talk too, very knowledgable, and one of the most beautiful tanks I have personally ever seen. Thanks again for everything.... DEFINATLEY will not hesitate to get something from him again in the future...Now I just have to set up another bigger tank(naughty)
  10. Thanks Calvin, You don't even know how stoked I am! Thanks for showing my your beautiful tank and the hookup!
  11. I'll take the "Single Head of Orange/Brown Frogspawn, asking $5"...We are comming down to the portland/salem area tomarrow...will you be available to meet?
  12. WOW...Those are awsome! Looks like there are quite a few polyps too...Nice Score..Post pics when they are all out in full bloom..(clap)
  13. I got a bag of them at Rose City Aquarium last weekend....
  14. And The Winner Is! Mr S Tanks For Teachers PM has been sent...
  15. Thats going to be a tough one..(plotting) Its just hard not to when I see your posts...Your signature picture and avatar makes it hard to keep my mouth shut..(clap) This might be a stupid question...but bare with me..DOH! Is this basically like the "GOC" grow out competition? Where a group of people buy into a mother colony and it gets fragged up and there is a competition as to who can grow the most Zoas?
  16. Is there any room in the "Second Members Only Zoa Grow-Out"? I paid for a membership, and would love to join if there is room for another person.
  17. I was curious who I contact about membership, I went through the website and paid for a "Family" membership, but I don't know who to contact to confirm payment was received.
  18. Really Awsome Candy Canes! Curious if those are different subspecies of Candy Cane, or is there just one species that just happens to be extremely variable in looks?
  19. I have heard of "Kryptonite" Candy Cane before...those are NEON Green and bright, I think more than anything most of the names are just a sales tacktic, used to make the corals sound much cooler. It would be interesting to know if there are different subspecies of CandyCane or Trumpet Corals...
  20. Thanks for the hookup, Sorry about the lateness of our arrival, things seemed to take much longer to do when parents are involved...Next time I come to portland, I am leaving the parents home..lol They got tired after the second shop we hit...(bored) I am glad we at least made it to your place, they opened up and looked awsome in Amanda's tank. Thanks again.
  21. LOL...They sure can be(nutty) I love Ocellaris Clowns but the tank raised ones seem to be a little (scratch) The Clarki we have with our Carpet is strongley bonded to it...
  22. This is just my opinion, so take it with a grain of salt...(naughty) If it was me...I would choose the Torch, While the Bubble Tips are cool, and I have never personally owned one, I have heard they move around quite a bit untill they settle in a spot where they like, and even then they still might move around. That alone is a big pet peave of mine...I like to have things stay where I put them..lol, I just like them to grow where I put them...which the Torch would do. I have a torch and really like it. I totally understand the alure of having a clownfish host a Anemone, its a really cool thing, but if it where me...I would save the money that I would have spent on a BTA...and Buy a nice Torch Coral and still have money left over to buy some zoanthids or mushrooms or even a cool ToadStool Leather Coral... BTA are cool...But if it was me...and I had a 20g, I would go with a Torch...
  23. Great to see the awsome participation....I just fragged them yesterday, and they are some big nice frags, they will be ready to go in a week. Winner will be announced on Next Saturday...May 1st!
  24. These are the only ones that we have that I would say have "Speckles"...I have no idea what they are, but they have REALLY long Skirts/Frills.... "EDIT" I take that back, we do have a Paly that has some speckling too...
