  1. I just got some new Pulsing gold strip Xenia at my lfs on friday. It was good in the lfs, but the minute I put it in my tank it started shrinking, it's shriveled and disgusting and is getting worse by the day. All parameters are good. With about 10 nitrates, which you would think would be good for it knowing that Xenia like "dirty tanks". Except ca is a bit high about 490-500.It was in a area at the bottom with medium flow, so I put it up higher and with lower flow and its not any better!! Idk what to do, can someone give me some advice?? BTW, all other livestock and corals are great, except the Xenia!!!
  2. Thanks, I have water and a fish in there now!!!! Its doing great!! Thanks for all your help!! I hope there is no need for medication though:)
  3. I have some pictures, with plane decorations in it, I haven't gotton the PVC yet. I don't know how to post them on the thread, if you want, you can just look at my albums...
  4. Wouldn't you agree that PVC may be too small for a medium sized fish?
  5. Nice Avatar CoralReefer!! Go Floyd!!! "I've always dreamed of getting a 2 chair shop Andy..."-one of my favorite lines!
  6. Of course!!!! Once I get it up and running I would love to!! one more ?: Do you recommend plastic plants or little ceramic caves for refuge? I don't like the idea of upside down flower pots for some reason...
  7. What I do is I premix it 24 hours ahead, but make the sg like 1.028, put it in a dark, cool place, and the next day I boil freshwater and add it to the buckeet so it heats up the water and raises the temp to about 79...
  8. I'll make sure I'll use the tank water to fill up the QT for sure. But for the ext pwr filter, I would only use the the filter pad in one with no carbon and the other nothing in it at all not even a pad, just for extra flow so I don't have to buy another power head.
  9. I cold put 2 filters on it, for more flow, just one with no filteration in it??
  10. Thanks, I don't like the look of decor in reef tanks anyway b/c (besides corals and rocks) they just don't look natural. But the biowheel provides flow, would the flow from that be enough?
  11. I do have a a couple of old ext pwer filts, maybe that would count for the flow?? They're for a 20g, but I think it would be fine right?? So I think I will tanke your original advice and just get a 10g tank and a small heater at walmart and put those up, it sounds really simple. I have some fw decor from when I had a fw tank. What do you think???
  12. Those are great deals! Thank you I will look into all of those options!!(clap)
  13. Thanks for the advice, where do you find a powerhead for $10??? The one in my display tank cost $39.99!!!! Can you find all of that at walmart?(plotting)
  14. Great!! I'm so excited!! Except, I don't have a QT, and I can't afford to set up another tank right now, so maybe I can have my lfs "QT" them for me. What do you all think?
  15. Thanks for the input yall!! The fish I will have are 2 percula clowns, one yellow clown goby and the angel. Right now I have the 2 percs, and a firefish, but I'm trading him in for a ycg.
  16. Good choice on getting the t5's. MH put off to much light and are very expensive to buy and to operate!!!
  17. Your probably fine, do you feed it anything? That usually helps it's all around health
  18. usually just a day or two....I paniced when i saw some split and they looked dead, but the next day it looked completely normal;)
  19. oh, thanks for the edit!! That's not always true, their are many different colors of anemone's. What color was it when you bought it? You should only be worried if it changes color. Often they will bleach when their isn't enough light. What is your lighting??
  20. What does PNWMAS think about having an Atlantic Cherub dwarf angel in a 20 gallon reef tank? I have known people that had them in 10gallon FO tanks, and they did great(suprisingly). And others who kept them in 30 gallon reefs and they also did great. I have read that I could keep it in a 20 gallon reef, I have plenty of rocks for it to graze on and many holes for it to swim through. I'm a bit sceptecal though because I had a bi-color angel and it died from ich although it did seem happy and fine, but it seems like it had it coming in my tank without me knowing...(scratch) Thank you all in advance!!!
  21. Thank you!!! How about you, do you shop at Oasis?? How has it been for you? thanks:)
  22. To the 2nd ?: There's usually an expiration date on the bottom of the bottle. But generally for about 6-12 months.
