Well the melanurus is out and about today after work. Cruising around eating flat worms yah! Still no signs of the red coris though. Guess only time will tell. Thanks for all the great info and reassurance.

I want this nem real bad. Just never had one before. I am afraid of it eating my fish(especially my eel who hides under my wesophillia alot) or moving and killing some of my corals. Man it is so tempting I am staring at the tank thinking how I can make it work.

Both my black and red scooters do that as well. I have had other wrasses that bury. But usualy come out at least once a day.

It was getting chased by the female maroon clown. The maroon never actually attack it that I could see. Would just chase it when the wrasse swam past their(clowns) cave. I thought fish need to pass water over their gills to breath. I did not know they could stay in the sand that long. I am going to buy a book on wrasses tonight if I can find one.

What should watch for in the skimmer? I never thought of that before. No hermit feeding frenzy yet!!

I just got a red coris wrasse on Sat! Got him in the tank. Noticed him being chased a little. Went back later he is no where to be found. I assume he has buried himself. Next day I look no signs of him. None to be found. I looked every where for him(on the floor as well). As of yesterday I still have not seen him. I got a melanurus wrasse yesterday(To go in the other tank). He was in the tank 30 min eating bugs and worms. I watched him bury himself. So my question is how long will these guys stay burried. And should I be worried there is a coris wrasse carcass poluting my tank?

Yeah the snail came out of my tank. I dont feel bad it was dead. It ate alot of palys.

+1 On golden dwarf morays. Or other eels for that matter. My golden is my favorite fish by far...

I have an unopened pack of it(flatworm exit) if you would like to buy it or trade for it. I was gonna use it but the wrasse seems to be keeping them in check.

Yeah it can be hit and miss with what the fish eat. My elegance eats all the bad pests nudis, bristle worms, flatworms, and still leaves all my shrimp alone. If you got room for a fish go for it worst case he doesn't eat any pests and you trade or sell him later

My elegance wrasse eats them. I also heard yellow coris wrasse and melenarus wrasse will eat them

What are the dimensions on the box with the plexi window. If it will fit in my trunk I will take it.

+1 for shops that say they will not sell a fish to you untill it is eating and looks healthy. Too many people in this industry will sell you a fish that has not been out of the bag more than a few mins and the do nothing when it dies.

I am by no means an electrical guru. But electricity always takes the path of least resistance. So if a ground inside the ballast went bad could back feed into the controller and cause erratic readings. I have had it happen plenty of times on cars. It causes all kinds of weird glitches. Like finch said unplug every thing and take an ohm meter and test the grounds. As a rule of thumb in the auto industry if things act weird you have a bad ground. But that is all DC application. Sorry for a not so precise answer. I will run this by my electrician buddy as well.

Are the VHO lights the only ones you are running? If they are just suplementing halides, I would stay with them. If they are your only source of light I would upgrade to T5.

Just my opinion. But KUFO has been going down hill for years. They shut down the station a while ago and totally revamped it. Which in my opinion made it worse. I have not tuned into the station since the change. 'cause I could not stand any of the DJs. I dont really think we need another FM talk station as I do like music. But we dont need another KUFO either. I will just continue enjoying the oldies station while I work.

I change 10 gallons per week(10 percent). If I am fighting nitrates add a mid week 5%-10%. I feed heavy and have an eel. I am considering going to 15% weekly if the nitrates rise again. Consistency is the key(Good replacement water helps too haha) ...

Got home opened the hood to the tank. There lies my sixline on the center brace. Cooked by the halide. Figured he could have flopped off there. It is totally flat and only 18 inches wide. Now I need another small pest eating wrasse... Whose looking to get rid of one?
