Great setup for frags...totally open top. The light bar is a really nice bonus. I have seen this setup and it would be a great addition...$400 a steal. Congrats on the twins Joel.

I am fairly certain that they do not use mercury on consumer grade thermometers. Does it have those little metal balls? Not mercury. Still want to get them out...a magnet should work. The red liquid is just red dyed alcohol or something like that. Shouldn't be a huge issue...just do some water changes and try to get all that metal out...

wilsonville pet clinic will do it...They made me sign a waiver, but they'll do it. Kinda pricey, $9 per pill for the large dose. That stuff works fantastically! Just make sure you take your snails and crabs out. My snails were not affected, but it will nuke the crabs. I was on the fence about using it until Travis at Upscales said they treat their main tanks every 3-4 months. Almost a guarantee you will get red bugs if you trade alot of frags, so do us all a favor and treat em if ya got em!

I have a quarantine tank that I use...it is lit with a 13 compact fluorescent bulb. I have quarantined some monti cap and hydophora in the tank. Both corals are growing at a slow rate, but growing. I keep the nutrient levels pretty high as well...all softies do fine under this bulb. They just dont have the coloration. 8 wpg is plenty. I do believe that different bulbs and different spectrums will really vary the amount of growth you can get out of an SPS. I prefer 10k MH in 250 or 400 watt for GROWTH.

the copper pipe had a pinhole leak. I cut out the 2" section that was broken. It is in a straight section of pipe, no joint. I was trying to slide a sharkbite coupling, which i already have, onto the pipe. I could not do it becaue I cant get the pipes to slide laterally. The sheetrock is open and easily accessed. The pipe is in the garage. It connects to the outside faucet. I want to learn to solder, but am nervous to just give it a whirl. have a real nice sps acro horrida frag and a chalice frag that I would love to offer! or, maybe someone would see something else...frag rack is full.

I have a broken water pipe in my garage wall that desperately needs to be fixed...the pipe is 5/8" and I have already found the break...I think it just needs a coupling and some soldering(sp?). I have some frags I can trade...SPS...some LPS...zoas...we can work something out!

def flowerpot. I have the exact same piece...only mine is half dead...thanks to some sort of worm infestation... Take heed with that coral, not the easiest to keep in captivity. I tried to rescued it from another reefers tank.(whistle) Some people have reported great success in keeping them though! Here is an interesting read been there done that

brandon, that cyph you gave me (meteor shower?) doesnt seem to like too high of light...the PE extension is phenomenal, but the color is a bit bleached.

It's only a matter of time before the economy or better judgment gets the best of all of us...this is a hobby.

went to Garrett's tonight and he gave me a magazine that showed the future of frag plugs...acrylic and air line tubing.

Why is this? It seems like egg crate and PVC get covered with Coralline in my tank VERY quickly... maybe it has something to do with reflectivity...? thoughts?
