  1. Well I really need to do something with my mountain of nems. I have tons and they have all but taken over my tank. Also one of my lights went out so I need to fund a new one. I have small ones, medium ones(all depending on if i can get them off rocks or not) and some really small ones that are pissed off at my lighting. the bottom 2 pics are the ones that are mad at me. Prices baby RBTA's 10 bucks a piece RBTA Small ones 15 a piece Medium RBTA's 25 a piece i have 1 or two green with purple tips(i dont know their name) and the 2 babies you see in the second to last bottom picture. 25 for the larger one and 15 for a baby or 25 for both. the large rock with about 10 nems on it in the top picture is for sale if someone wants that many nems. its about 5-7lbs, and would be easier than trying to scrap them off. about 10 RBTA's, maybe more. 200 bucks. I also have tons of kenya trees of all sizes and tons of devils hand leather frags and larger pieces. next up a bunch of rock. I cant really say if its "live" its fully cured and been cooking in that tank for like 2 years, probably 25-40lbs, im not sure. good clean rock, just not sure about the living status of it. 50 bucks. the tank is a 20 long drilled with a Wannareef overflow, needs cleaned since it is full of rock. 40 bucks. I have lots of other stuff in the garage I need to go through, some 10 gallon tanks, old skimmer, sand, tons of stuff i will try to get pictures of later. shoot me a pm if your interested.
  2. Thats crazy. I have not totally got my act together Charles, but had some lighting issues so I figured I had better check in. Might get me motivated to actually get my tank back together.
  3. I have not logged on in quite a while. Been busy and reefing has been low on my list. I logged in today to try and find someones number in a old pm and everything since 2012 seems to have dissapeared. So did I miss something or was there a reset? Just curious, my tank has been neglected and needs some work so I thought I would check in. My nems have gotten out of control (i probably have 50 RBTA's). So I may need to sell them off to pay for my neglect. Anyone who remembers me, thought I would say hi and ask a silly question.
  4. Pretty amazing stuff. Cant wait to see the footage from the suit.
  5. $150 for tanks, light and skimmer. Come get this out of my garage.
  6. Bump for the weekend. Ill split it up if you just want the tanks or anything else. 75$ for the tanks, ill throw in the skimmer as well.
  7. Wish I had time for hobbies anymore. seems like life just slowly sucks them out of you. Used to hunt and fish a lot. Now I get to hunt every couple of years if im lucky. I do get to go to Wyoming deer and antelope hunting in a month or so. So that will be fun. Dirtbikes. Love to ride in the woods. but have had no time to do that lately. My baby just sits in the garage crying. Bowling. Had to go to swing shift this year, so I had to give that up. Golf, way to expensive of a hobby(at least when your a saltwater guy). I still game on my pc quite a bit at night when all has calmed down. And of course Reefing, all though the "reefing" part of it has been hard as of late. One day Ill get my tank together and be able to actually call it a "reef".
  8. Im gonna throw the rock in a bucket and tear this thing down today. $175.00 takes it, tank with overflow, sump, skimmer. Ballast and pendant. Ill even throw in the 10-15 pounds of rubble left in it if you want it.
  9. Well I picked up a elos phosphate kit from OIAB today. Tested my water and best I can tell I am somewhere between .05 and 0. So that is a big improvement. Im thinking I will keep an eye on it this week and see if it stays the same. Then I will have to find me some sps frags and give it a go again.
  10. are these strictly for acrylic or are they safe for glass as well?
  11. The rowa is what I got. How long till it starts to work? Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk
  12. There is only one store I wont visit anymore dont really care if they have gotten better or not. Perfect quote. Never had an issue with OIAB, Cos has always treated me right and one of the only fish stores I have heard a owner respond to "will that tang go in my 40 gallon tank" With "no it wont". Unlike another store that the owner (i watched and heard this) say "Yeah, that clown tang will be fine in your 29 gallon tank". Just visited Upscales yesterday for the first time and was very impressed. Everyone says TPA is the best, I never get to salem except for work so I have yet to get in there. One of these days I will. Garret seems like a great guy and owner. I was at Seahorse a few weeks back and that place looks really bad. Tanks were very dirty and the fish didnt look at that well. Might of been a off day. Woody has always been good to me. Cayes is great, but I dont get over there to much and I think there salt selection has gone down a bit. Everyone has there opinions, its best to just try your luck. Goes back to Kimberlees quote. Live and learn.
  13. I fed spectrum pellets for a long time and had a lot of cyno issues. Stopped using them and just use brine, mysis and nori and my cyno has gone away. Make sure your skimmer is working good and stay on top of your water changes. Thats the best advice that I have for cyno. Lights out for a while will clear it up, but if you dont sort out the cause they will come back. GFO is new to me, so im crossing my fingers. Jeremy, were you there with your family and little girl? If so your daughter was following my son around and making him all shy. It was really cute. Was really impressed with the store. wish it was closer i would visit it more often. Ill check out the red sea kit. I think that my be the one Travis showed me. Spendy though.
  14. So today I visited Upscales for the first time. Happened to be in the area. What a amazing store. After talking with Travis(I think that was his name), nice guy. He said GFO was a good way to go. My other issue is I need to invest in a decent test kit since the API kit only measures down to .25. I picked up some GFO from him. Just got it set up and I hope I followed the directions right. A bit cloudy at first but I ran off a gallon or so as not to get any in the tank. I had to change pumps to a smaller one since the other one seemed like way to much. next is a decent test kit. Thanks for all the info folks. Sorry I missed you Mitchell. I will try and catch you next time im in the area.
  15. The black algae was just on a couple bigger rocks in the fuge. I recently took out the eggcrate I had at the bottom of my tank and ended up going through my entire display to do just that, look for anything out of the ordinary. My fuge on the other hand really has not been touched for 3+ years. It was quite nasty, sand was really funky, lots of cyno and misc. stuff. I agree that trying to sort things out quickly is not the answer. I have been slowly trying different things for over a year now. I get one thing in check and something else seems to poke up. It seems I have got everything in check, minus the phosphates. Just weird because the first 1.5-2 years the tank flurished. I had massive SPS growth. I never checked my phosphatesDOH!. Then slowly over a couple months I lost all my sps. I have sorted out a problem, got a frag of birdsnest or something only to watch it one day just RTN. The only thing I can find wrong now is phosphates. Its only been a few days since I gutted the fuge and cleaned the sump, so I should give it some time to see if there is any change at all. I use RODI water that is coming out at 0tds. Its vancouver water. I am running one of the cloramine carbon filters as well. I did a lot of reading on vinegar. Looked the most promising. The vodka I did for a few months like I said and found it hard to stay up on it. I am the only one in my house that does anything with my tank so if im gone I cant rely on stuff like daily dosing to get done. Is there a really accurate test kit for phosphates. I had a seachem one and it was harder to read than the api kit. Api was cheap, but there is no reading between .25 and 0. Vinegar is cheaper than vodka especially with washingtons new taxes(nutty) but im back to the having to worry about it getting done when im not home. Got a couple of big trips coming up in the next couple months and dont want to rely on other people to get it done. I dont get to tigard very much but I might take you up on it. How much do you want for it? I have heard alot of people swear by GFO and it sounds pretty easy to use. I like the fact that I can not have to worry about it every day like dosing. Thanks for all the input so far folks, been a irritating stint with my tank. The good news is my fish are happy and healthy, my RBTA's are happy. Tank looks really good, better in fact than it did when I had massive growth when the tank was new. Just frustrating. I really love SPS and really want to have one of those tanks you see "like yours junkie(drooler)(drooler)". Just hate killing coral. I killed a lot of fish when I was new and stupid and im tired of spending money when im just not sure its gonna make it. On a side note, does anyone have any experience with Hamilton SE bulbs? I ask because I replaced my bulbs with hamiltons a couple of months ago(250 14k's) and they just do not seem very bright. I read a ton of great reviews for them. They just dont seem to pop like other bulbs I have tried. Wondering if anyone had any experience with them or not. Thanks.
  16. I tried vodka for a few months and did not see any changes. Maybe I should up the dosage. I went by the chart listed on the reefkeepers site. Anyone done any vinegar dosing? Heard good things about that as well. With gfo, is that changed out monthly or something similar? Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk
  17. So I have about had it with phosphates. Over the years I have battled many things and beat them all back. But I cannot beat the phosphates back. I have lost countless sps. While I thought it was other things, and it could of been, I think my phosphates are the issue. Currently they have stayed at .25. For the last few months they have not gone up or down. Big issue may be the API kit I am using just doesnt go low enough but either way they are still there. I have done massive water changes, have been running phosguard for the last couple months. My nitrates seem to be in check staying between 0 and 10. This weekend I finally got around to pulling my sump out and removing the 3 year old refugium that was a nasty mess along with some live rock that was covered in weird black slimy algae. I cleaned the entire sump, skimmer, pumps everything down there. Then I replaced the fuge with a bunch of good live rock. A couple days later I tested and found the same results. .25 phosphates and 5 on my nitrates. Im ranting, sorry but im curious which way to go. is a Hanna phosphate checker worth the money? Or is there a better test kit out there. Bio pellets? GFO? I have tried a few different things, not very impressed with the phosguard, but I had some to use up so it didnt hurt to try it. I have a large carbon reactor that Wannareef made me, can I run gfo or pellets in that? How important is Carbon? I have always ran it, swap it out about once a month or so. I know a few of you know my issues and have given me advice, just looking for which way to go now. Looking for the best bang for the buck I guess. I tried that algae scrubber in another tank. Not impressed at all. Ran for 2 months and got a tiny bit of brown slime to grow on it. Any advice would be great.
  18. Sorry to hear that. Felt the same when I lost my male blue throat. Still bums me out to see the female swimming without him.
  19. Voted and thanks for doing this. My son is autistic and has a program like that for his Ipad and it does wonders for him. What a great cause. Good luck and I hope you guys win.
  20. I got some branchy green/black sponges in my fuge. Im gonna clean out my sump and fuge this weekend. Your welcome to some of them if you like. Have to be this weekend though.
  21. Dont want to hijack the thread, but i have tried a bunch of different things. Currently running some phosguard pellets. Also dosing biofuel per instructions daily. Tried vodka for a while with no real luck. Thinking of trying vinegar or saving up some money to get a decent GFO reactor or some kind of bio pellets. Sorry to hijack.
  22. For me I found some really nice thick pork chops for my first time. My wife was never a fan of them because she said they were to dry. Changed her mind about pork forever.
  23. Think I might just do that this weekend. Glad I put a side door in on my stand. Unhook it all and the sump should just slide out.
  24. Man I really wish I could get my phosphates under control. Cant get it below .25. I keep missing out on these great deals. Great looking stuff.
