  1. Got this little bugger and what I think is a big stomatta snail(spelling?) on my new milli I picked up at OIAB today. Didnt know if it was bad or good so I picked him off. Im guessing somekind of acro eating crab or something.
  2. +1 for Marco. 200 lbs of it. Never used BRS so cant say yes or no.
  3. Glad you got it up and running. Thank the members here for helping me with the set up. Rick, Wanareef and quite a few others gave me great advice on setting up the herbie drain. cant wait to see some pictures.
  4. Yep there great. Just got my new bulbs in. They look great. Thanks guys for putting up with me anxiously waiting for them to get here and bugging you guys daily. With any luck, all things will get better in my tank and I can get back to growing corals properly.
  5. Looks good Doran, keep us updated. Hated to see it go, but I need to concentrate on one tank for now.
  6. Tank is sold. Thanks Doran. Please close this thread.
  7. Ordered from Marcorock twice, about 200lbs of the stuff for various things. If you get there free shipping deals, you cant beat it. Its pretty amazing rock, but does need some time curing. Mine colored up nicely after a few months, but i did fight some hair algae issues for a bit.
  8. +1 for Charles/Wannareef. He just sold one in the for sale section you can take a look at his work.
  9. Looks awesome. That Monti is very nice.
  10. $175 OBO. Anyone want a ready to go nice tank?
  11. anyone? Make me a offer. Great starter set up for someone wanting a nice basically brand new tank.
  12. No its a LumenMax reflector. Great hood, just a tad big for that tank, gonna probably use it for a frag tank in the garage once I get everything sorted out. As far as the tank goes, its tore down now and in the garage ready to go. I would suggest replacing bulkheads with threaded ones since im a dummy and didnt, I had to cut 2 of the returns from the bulkhead to remove them. I did cut them low enough that you can just put a coupling on them and use the existing plumbing. Tanks are cleaned out pretty good. hit me up folks would love to get rid of this ASAP.
  13. Got a bunch of tan and green zoo's polys, whatever you wanna call them. Large ones, little ones medium ones. bout the size of a baseball 15 bucks. Couple of these. This is a about a 8"x5" piece of LR covered. 25 bucks little starter colony, probably 20 heads or so. 10 bucks. I have or can make a few of these. Have a bunch of them, some green polys as well, get some pictures of them in a bit. Drop me a pm.
  14. So the need to fund new lights for my main tank, and keep up proper maintence on 1 instead of 2 tanks has me tearing down the newest tank. 40breeder drilled for herbie overflow. Custom overflow built by Wannareef(so you know its good). Custom stand that I built, not the greatest but I put some time into it. 20 gal long sump All the plumbing you can take with it. I would like $200 for the entire set up, tank, stand and sump. empty plumbing 200 bucks takes it all. Need the cash, need new bulbs for my 180. Shoot me a pm, home the next couple days.
  15. So im interested in if anyone of the local people have also tried these out at all. there is a huge discussion about it on RC http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1703568&highlight=plusrite+14k&page=24 For the price you cant really beat the fact you can buy 6-8 bulbs for the price of 1 https://www.1000bulbs.com/category/250-watt-single-ended-metal-halide-aquarium/ My own experience. Well the first 3-4 months I had massive growth. Now 6 months into it I have lost a number of sps and its looking like the light falling off is to blame. I just cant pull the trigger on 4 bulbs that cost 60-100 bucks a piece that last about a year. I know, you get what you pay for. Just need to buck up and do it. But I am curious, if I have really good growth for 3 months on a bulb that cost 10 bucks, why not replace that bulb 4 times a year at a cost of 40 bucks. Im just wondering if anyone has had this thought, or actually used these bulbs before. Experience with them at all. Discuss!(plotting)
  16. Good luck, its hard work but alot of fun. after a few months of trying I gave up for a bit. I could not get my my ducks in row every time. Either I would have to much air, my rotifers would crash, fry would only last a few days, on and on. Its a process. I had a heater die on me and fry my rotifers a couple months back so I gave up a bit. My clowns are still laying religiously so I may try it again when im ready. Dave is a great reference. Also the clownfish book is a must. Very helpful. I was told to let them lay a few batches to get used to it(higher quality eggs Im told). Congrats, I know its exciting, but take my advice. Slow down and dont make all the mistakes I made. And read up.
  17. Well a few things have changed, I was tempted to tear it down but thought against it. So I took some rock out to get some better flow, through all my dying or dead sps in there, so its kind of a craveyard right now. My RBTA split like 3 times so I have 4 small ones. My skunk clowns are pretty happy and get lots of use out of them. Aside from them the only other inhabitants are a cleaner shrimp, a few crabs and a billion bristle worms.
  18. So they tied, who gets the frag? not so shocked at the niners going 6-10, but the cowboys. WOW. Maybe we will have something more to cheer about on both sides next year.
  19. No im using RODI water, just replaced ro filter and the waters good. I just might of found a small problem. Seems my skimmer was all gunked up and the pump mesh mod I had done a while back had lost most of the mesh. So I tore the skimmer all apart and replaced the mesh mod and no its back to skimming like mad. Ill double check my calibration but I think its pretty on target. I also loss my hydropora(what ever its called). Now one of my encrusting montis are losing some color. I do think that is the light on that one.
  20. Im honestly thinking about tearing mine down and selling it off. More work than I have time for and I really need to get my big tank back up to snuff. Plus its a bit of work for a pair of clowns and a cleaner shrimp. Lost my sailfin blenny for an unknown reason yesterday. Oh and I do have about 500 bristle worms if anyone wants them. LOL. That being said im still in the club for now. 40breeder with a Wannareef overflow. Plumbed with a herbie to a 20long sump/fuge. Lumenex reflector with a 250 watt ballast.(serious overkill).
  21. I believe they were the plus brand off ebay. First few months I had a ton of growth on everything, then it started to slow. I have a massive asterina population. My harlequin does a pretty good job but just in his area. Hes finally putting a dent in them. they went from the base up and I did notice asterinas on them, but only after they started turning white. this was a slow death, not over nite. I have had a few frags go white over night in the past, this was not the case. Tank has not been neglected in any way really, just kinda stopped obcessing about tanks and website. Feeding really has not changed much when it came to the fish. They all seem healthy. It is strickly related to birdsnest. My slimer is fine, a few millis that dont seem bothered, not growing a bunch, but not dying like the birdsnest. Every frag is either on its way to being dead or totally white. Only thing I really have not done is changed out my carbon in a month or so and ran out of iodine, which I used to dose about once a month. Which leads me to think either a bug that just likes birdsnest or the lights. I moved a few frags over to my 40 that had just barely started and they have died as well. Kinda at a loss. Wondering if I should remove the birdsnest all together.
  22. Hey I got a 180 and 40b. You can too. Ill take some updated pics in a bit.
