Man that sucks. Been there tho. A few years ago my father picked up a 210 with more corals than would fit into 3, 50 gal stock tanks. Within weeks everything was lost. It's a truly painful and heart wrenching experience. So sorry for your losses.
Stopped by the Premium Aquarium today and walked out with an amazing pin tail wrasse pair, royal flasher wrasse, and a leopard wrasse to boot! This slow acclimation is killing me! Hurry up.
If I had the coin I'd snatch it up.however Renting a beach house for the coming weekend for our anniversary in nowhere near cheap. Between you and Jorge I'm beating my head against the wall.
So I decided to run my calcium reactor differently that usual. By this I mean not using my apex to control the solenoid. Anyhoo I've been watching my alk slowly increase (via Hanna) to where I'd like it to sit until today I got a weird low result. So I thought hmmm. I'm going to test the same sample again based on what I've read in a previous thread. So I did and here's what I got.
1st. 151
2nd. 168
3rd. 161
4th. 157.
All from the same sample within 5 min. I think I've lost faith.
Spoken like an expert! I've just recently started to see bright green algae take hold in a few places. Explaines a lot.
To answer your questions. I run nothing to control nitrates however I run a small amount of gfo to keep phos in check.
Just ran tests again and no detectable nitrates. So... How does one increase nitrates without increasing phos?
Hmmmm. Keep em coming. Perhaps it's my water. Last Check this morning
Alk was 8.2
Cal 520
Po4. .08
Nitrate 0 api
Mag 1200.
This stuff is so frustrating.
Just curious what settings and schedules those using these lights are using? I run 4 over my 210, 16" above the water. 90-100% blues/ 25-30% whites. Having a hard time getting great colors out of my sps.
Always better with more volume IMO. Before purchasing my home I had a setup with 4 tanks all sharing a common sump. As Clark stated just be sure the sump can handle the loss from all tanks. Otherwise.... Rock it!
