  1. If you have a livestock feed store near you, go in there for syringes. They'll be a little larger, but I prefer the slightly larger gauge for nuking aptasia. :-)
  2. I'd really freak if I found that in my tank........of course.....I have a little nano so it'd be a HUGE problem.
  3. OMG!! I want to live with day geckos! They're so beautiful. I'd love to keep one, but I just have a real issue with having pets that I have to buy bugs for.
  4. I find these in my shower all the time. The first experience was a little creepy though! I grabbed my shampoo bottle and a frog popped out from the back of it. LOL
  5. I'll jump on the band wagon, GSP. Lol, was this rock from an established tank or did you just get lucky with a nifty hitch hiker?
  6. LOL, Dsoz, maybe I got that link from you back in the day! Its awesome and helped me out alot
  7. This was a good one for me when I was getting ready to start my tank.....when it was still an empty glass box. http://www.reefkeeping.com/issues/2004-01/eb/index.php
  8. Wow! Super sad day when someone has to resort to bashing your corals anonymously online in order to feel special. Its a beautiful piece though! I really like it.
  9. Pfffft, modesty has no place in saltwater Garrett. Let's be honest, your corals rocked......carbon or no.
  10. I just added some to my system and already my critters look happier....clam especially
  11. HAHAHA! This was hilarious and exactly what I needed!
  12. I definitely know that my corals look good in other tanks, but I don't really care as much about that. I would rather them grow slowly and look amazing in MY tank so that I get to enjoy them!
  13. *sigh* if it weren't for the sweeper tentacles I'd be all over some frogspawn......but alas! tiny little nano cube. :-(
  14. The small amount of research that I just did indicates that squid are often bioluminescent. However, it also indicates that some shrimps can flash when they feel threatened. Considering you saw it eat a copapod, I doubt that's what it is....but you never know.
  15. Sty you have PM. Dennis, you ought to check out Jason's fungia. There are one neon orange and green ones. They're intense!
  16. If these guys make it, I'd love to have one! Fungia is on the list of corals that convinced me to do saltwater.....and I still haven't gotten one. Too scared that I'll kill it I suppose, but if they can survive this....maybe they can survive me!
  17. Its distinctly possible that the bulb is getting old. I think replacing it might be the first step. The corals I've bought have had great color when I get them, but just never seem as vibrant in my tank. The best example is actually the maxima clam that I just got. It was amazing in Jason's tank, and although appears happy in mine.....just doesn't "pop" the same way. I'd love to make my critters look as awesome as they do before I bring them home! I think part of what I'm noticing is that the tanks that I idolize look more blue, whereas my tank appears more white. Some of this I'm sure is immaturity and a lack of grow in so there's less coral to look at. Thankfully my coralline is starting to really come in, but if there is something I can do from a lighting stand point....I'm in!
  18. This is such a newbie question! After doing this for a year I'm almost embarrassed to ask, but I just gotta. I want to know how to get some of these amazingly florescent colors out of my corals that I'm seeing in so many photos. I have a 150w HQI, that has a 20k bulb in it. I believe that what I need to do is add some sort of actinic fixture, but I'm just not sure of what to add on. Any advice? This is over a 15.5 g cube. Everything is super healthy and happy, I just want more of the crazy colors that I know are in there somewhere!
  19. I'd also like to know if you charge by the piece, or the hour. Also do you have a shop minimum? Even though I know it'll look like flash, I want a tiny paw print on my ankle. Something easily covered by a sock, but not so small that it'll look like just a blob of ink. I also have a larger piece on my back that could stand to be touched up.
  20. I have one of these guys! I named him Achmed and I really like him. Although he is a fairly shy fish, and easily startled, he is also absolutely beautiful and pretty active. My research indicated that I would need to be cautious should I consider adding other basslets or similarly shaped fish. Pretty fish! Congrats!
  21. I might be interested. I'll know after the 1st.
  22. I'm really happy to hear it. Thanks for picking those up. I hope you and Ryan enjoy them!
  23. monkey butt! Sorry, just adding to the randomness of this thread.
  24. all frags claimed. Thanks guys! I'm sure there will be more soon, one of the mushrooms that I'm keeping appears to be splitting again. yay!
