  1. I have a friend with a 75 gal freshwater tank. Its had an algae outbreak for the last 6mths! Its the da*# single cell algae that turns the water green. They have tried everything to get rid of it from chemicals to blackout. Which only killed a few fish. They do not want to take it down again and have to bleach everything n start all over. But they are ready to just take down the tank next week! They love their tank but are very frustrated! I was thinking a diatom filter would maybe be the best solution???? If anyone on here has 1 they could loan out for a week or to help save my friends hobby I would be so happy!!! I hate to see them get frustrated and give up because of some damb algae!!! Some of the fish they have, they have had for over 10 yrs! HELP!!!!!!!(scary)
  2. clowns Sunset tropicals has a ton of clowns to, he is raising babies.
  3. Looking for a cheap light setup w/ or w/out bulbs is fine prefer a T-5 or regular florescents are just fine but open to anything.............................. will be for a 55 FOWLR, fixure type is best but retro would be fine to. Not picky at this point as long as it works! Let me know what you got layin around and how much..... May be willing to do a coral trade to for the right setup........(plotting)
  4. Shrooms If you still have them I will take 1-2 purple Tongas and maybe 1 yuma. I have to wait untill friday (payday) tho.... Let me know Thanks
  5. Location Where are you located? I might be interested in a few things but not if its to far....... Thanks
  6. 32gal you could use the 32 for a fuge, it is drilled with 2 holes in the back, just a reminder. It is in good shape tho with no scratches so would also work for a display. I would keep it and set it up but I do not have the room in my tiny appartment for another tank.... Not to mention the managers were not happy when I moved in and told them I had a 29 gal.... Little did they know I upgraded apon moving in to a 75 gal.....:p
  7. OPEN TO TRADE I will take trade for anything let me know what you have..... Corals always good! Gota LOVE ZOOS!!!!!!!!
  8. I am looking for a tank to setup in a doctor's office in Lake Oswego. I currently have a 10 hex nano reef setup and its not big enough for me and they love it so they are going to pitch in together to buy a bigger tank! YES(plotting) They don't know it yet but they were bit by the saltwater bug(naner)....LOL.... So here is what I am thinking.... I would like to use the most of my limited space. I am thinking Cube tank(plotting), of 40 gallons or more. I have about a 36" wide area. A complete setup would be nice but if it has at least a stand and/or canopy I can work with that. Let me know what you have that at leased 36" wide, doesn't have to be cube but would prefer and what your asking price will be. Note: These are wonderful doctors who do tons of charity work and are not making millions off people, they do it for their love of helping people. I have personally witnessed several occations where a doctor told the patient to pay what they can afford and nothing more to patients without health insurance! So the cheaper the better! Or bartering is always good! Chiropractic, massage, physical therapy or actually psycological(nutty) therapy are all available!...(naughty) I know a few people here could use that 1! Thanks
  9. LR If you have LR in your sump with aptasia then you will eventually have them in your display! I found this out the hard way a long time ago!

  15. Has anyone heard about these or had 1? I think they are full of it! No water changes for 1 year..... I want to know what they have been smokin!!! They need to pass it around(naughty)....... I talked to one of the sales man today on the phone and he kept pushing the fact that this enzyme really works? I told him he is full of it and what about the common minerals like iodine and calcium quickly used up in aquarium water and he told me the enzyme does it!!!!(laugh) What a joke!!! http://www.aquabellaaquariums.com/welcome.asp
  16. Tank Maintenance I started doing tank maint. last spring and was considering get a business lic. and going full time with it. I made pretty good money to start but eventually within a few months I started to notice what DoughPat was saying. Things go wrong in clients tanks so much more than your own! I was offered a part time job a couple of days a week and took to suppliment money till things got off the ground. Well I had a canister filter start leaking out of the hole by the electrical plug and they failed to call me untill there was about 15 gallons of water of water on the floor of the doctor office! When I get there they said "we noticed the water level was going down over the last few day but didn't think anything of it"! So they waited untill it was a huge emergency in a pediactric office and called me at 12 on a day was at my other job! (They would not buy a new filter)They only wanted me to come out 1 time per month and the spot they put it got direct light for the last couple of hours of the day, which I was not aware of since it was so far away from the windows and I was only there at 6am! I wanted to move it to save them money so I would not have to be out there every week or so cleaning the algea, but they would not do it! They wanted the instant algea fix so they didn't have to pay me..... Just a brief over shot of some of what you may or maynot have to deal with. And to top it off sometimes it would be 6-8 weeks before I would get paid and I always heard "your check is in the mail!" Doctor's offices are not immune to the bad economy, nor a large office suites. I do still have a couple fo tanks I maintaine weekly and actually I barter with all but 1 of them for services and it works out better this way. I LOVE my Chiropractor! IMO I would not try to do this especially since you have a full time job to go back to in september. Its a fun job to have minus the A holes and I charged an extra fee there to. I called it a gas and as* surcharge though! You will have to dedicate everything to this career and be on call 24/7. Good Luck in your quest, whatever you decide to do. (scratch)
  17. I was just wondering if anyone here has a small reactor setup for sale. Let me know, Thanks Amanda
  18. GA Aquarium Do you know how much it is??? I will check into it and if we can take the kids then I definatly will!!! If not I may not be able to this time around. There will be future trips to Atlanta so if not now then later. I am also going to invest in a really nice camera before I leave. I was looking at 1 today that had settings for everything! Including even a setting for AQUARIUM!!!! I cannot wait and plan to get some great shots to start my own thread when we get back..... Any other suggestions or what was your favorite part of the aquarium???
  19. Georgia Aquarium You have some awsome pics there. Not to be a hijacker but I have a trip planned to GA on May 31st and of course it includes a day at the aquarium! (My main reason for going(whistle), JUST DON'T TELL THE BOYFRIEND:p) I cannot wait!!!!

    ATO

ATO I have actually already been there and know that option I just was wondering if anyone had 1 already done and laying around they might want to get rid of...... I guess I am gona have to go that route and it can be a project for my boyfriend and me to put together. He thinks I am nuts for spending so much time with my fish as it is! Sometimes I wonder if I am.............(scratch)(nutty)(nutty)(nutty)
  21. Anemone Try silversides, I have had a few diff types of anemones since I started saltwater. Some would suck down silversides some would refuse them. Every type I have had except for a long tentacle would love to eat thawed fresh table shrimp. I rinse it good in fresh water then I soak it in a cup of tank water to get it the same temperature as the tank. I buy it at the local grocery store and cut each 1 into about 3 pieces (depending on size of nem) then feed 1 at a time (morning, noon, night) and if they are 6" + they should eat them all. I had a BTA that was bleached when I got it and it full recovered on this regiment within about 2-3 months. I feed a couple times a week sometimes skipping a feeding or two if it looks happy, but I have 400watt MH so I figure my Ritteri doesn't require as much food under this light since its happy place is pretty close to the water surface. So basicly if yours will not take silversides easily then try some shrimp... Do not give up or get discouraged if it will not eat for you right away. Keep water quality good as others have said and have patience. I am predicting its a Green BTA:p
  22. Shrimp This sounds like a great plan I have always wanted a pair but didn't want to feed CC stars cause I have always had a reef! I never thought to keep them in the sump!!! I am in the works for a new tank another 75. I will finally be able to get a pair of Harley Shrimp as my daughter calls them!!! SHe will be extatic!!!(clap)

    ATO

Ok here is the thing I add ATO every morning and night when I turn my lights on/off. It has never been a problem for me. But I am going to be taking a 2 week vacation in june and need to have my tank as simple as possible to take care of as my sister is house sitting and doesn't know much about saltwater. I do have a friend who is gona stop by and check on things every couple of days and feed some frozen food to corals and fish. But I am getting everything setup as easily and maintenance free as possible for the time I am gone. I have an empty 10 gal and want to setup an ATO but do not really have the time right now. When I get my taxes back in a couple of weeks I would love to buy one that is plug and play! If someone has a used 1 or is good at setting them up and wants to make a little extra cash.... Just throwin this out there to see what people have....... Thanks Amanda
