  1. Your discus just not "doin it" for ya randy??? All those hippies over at the freshwater store creeping you out, lol?
  2. Does the overflow have enough room for another hole? The 2 inch hole will usually be plenty but I always like to have a backup in case something happens and the primary drain gets clogged.... always good to have redundant systems in place so you dont end up with a mess on your floor.
  3. Really?! I have treated my tank twice now over the last few years and everything came thru with flying colors, even my cleaner shrimp and harlequin survived the treatments. I know some of the stores treat once yearly just to make sure they are clean. They are just an irritant, but they eventually stress the corals and they really lose color. Out of all of the reef pests IMO red bugs are the absolute easiest to treat for (as long as you can get ahold of interceptor)
  4. agreed, dan's fish room IS awesome!
  5. danik uses mp40s as do most of us. Have you seen the mp60s in person? I saw them at MACNA and they are HUGE! I think they would be best in a 30" or taller tank.
  6. I use them in my sps system.... have had them running for about 3 months now. haven't noticed a decrease in phosphate or nitrate so I'm not sure if they are doing anything at all
  7. I'm stoked because it is only about 3 miles from my house!
  8. sorry, I shut it down for a bit for adjustment, i'll post when it is back up
  9. Edit, camera shut down for adjustments, I'll let you know when it is back up
  10. I have the same 165 gallon as above. You can get them online but the shipping is a killer. I got mine at http://www.alwayspure.net/ They are on highway 26 going towards sandy. A little bit of a drive but worth it to save on shipping and they had Many sizes avail when I was there.
  11. Not sure how the masterflex pumps deal with any head pressure (although that much run is prob not that much). The litermeter compensates by a calibration routine. I run my waste up 10 feet and across my garage and into a sink with no problems... I assume these pumps could do this also.
  12. No, but you can pick it up that day on the way down there if you want. Its on Sunday the 16th right?
  13. I have a single actinic 46.5 bulb you can have, I ran it for about 4 months before switching it out for another spectrum bulb
  14. Any fish can jump, I've had a powder blue tang jump on me before. Uncovered tanks are just asking for problems IMO
  15. Kim, you can get in and leave them in my tank until yours is ready
  16. Nice to meet you gals too! Anytime you need more frags you know where to find me! So what you are trying to tell me is that everyone doesn't lift their tank into their house with a forklift? Who knew!
  17. You forgot to add the ATI sunpower, all the benefits of the powermodule unless you need over 8 bulbs, but about half the price!
  18. On the other hand, now that I learned that a certain member was banned, I will be on here more often....that guy was driving my nutz and I found myself keeping AWAY from the forum
  19. ebay it... you will be shocked at how much you get for it! I have ebay'd both my old iphones and was completely shocked at how much even broken ones go for as parts phones!

    Clam?

I have found that the key to clams is in their size. If you get the really small ones, like under 3-4 inches, they are still using phytoplankton to feed off of, which is something our tanks usually lack. When they get larger, they rely solely on light and water chemistry and IMO become very easy to keep, and are tolerable and *may* even prefer slightly "dirtier" water with higher nitrate than the typical sps tank.
  21. Temp is WAY too high? Is the heater stuck on or set wrong?
