The day I put it in...it was funny, I picked it up out of the bag and turned it over to look at its foot...it squirted me right in the eye! I knew this puppy had a bit of an attitute right from the start! Kris

In these times, spending any extra money is tough for a lot of us! The membership dues that we collect help our club out tremendously. Last year, the club funds purchased the food to feed more than 50 people at our annual BBQ. It also help offset the costs of last years Christmas Party. It will help offset the costs to our upcoming vist to Both the Hatfield Center and the OCA as our Club donated $50 dollars to Hatfield each year. To date, it has helped the TFT's program get up and running! We have purchased one brand new Nano and are in the process of purchasing another. As the do survive off of photosynthesis...good lighting is key. Mine is in the upper 1/3 of the tank on a rock ledge. Here is a pic...I really love these clams! I did notice today that it had moved itself a bit...that made me a little curious as to whether it liked that "much" light as it is now half under the ledge. Kris

Hard to say. All of your parameters look good. I had a fox face that was healthy as a horse one day and the next day belly up. The thing about animals (fish included) is that due to their survival instincts, they don't show signs of illness until things are often so far progressed that they have no choice. Sometimes this presents (as in the case of fish) in death. Some internal parasites are never seen, they just take the life. I guess its better when external symptoms appear...we all know what Ich looks like, and thus we have been able to grasp treating it. Fish are funny things...either really healthy and doing well, or the complete opposite. Usually there isn't much in between, and when there is, it often leads to the latter. Sorry for your loss. I hope you can replace those fish soon for your newphew's sake! Kris

Thats a happy clam! LOL. My clam anchored itself in minutes...and I mean 10 or 15 minutes. I put it mid-level and thought, "hmmm maybe if it was a bit more over here" and then I tried to readjust...bam, it was stuck to the rock! Luckily I like where it is. I have kept my CA up to 425 but I haven't checked my mag. I am still having trouble with the algae... This weekend, I am cleaning the sump. I am taking all of the rubble rock out of it and leaving only the Cheato....

I tried using the plastic neting as well when I had xenia...it worked ok. Hindsight now tells me just to go with the whole rubble thing...it takes a bit of time but works great. If only those softies attached as quick as clams!

Set them in some small rubble. They should attach themselves to that...you can then glue the rubble to your choice location. I was successful with this method after one of my rics split. Kris

The only thing that garlic will do is make the food more "tasty" to a fish that is not eating well due to the infestation. Ich has a time line associated with it. Most people say that garlic works well because by the time the fish consume it, the "cysts" on the fish have reached maturity and fall off. (Thanks Joel for this info...). I picked up a tube of metrodiazonale for $10 bucks. Cheap compared to $200.00 worth of fish. If your fish are eating...soaking this med in the food and feeding it to the whole tank will help! If they are not eating...well, I hope they pull through. As for QT'ing fish...I agree 100% with others that trying to catch a fish in your display is pretty stressful. For the cost above, just treat the entire tank and let your already stressed out, sick fish relax. As for QT'ing fish after you buy them...I don't do that either. Most of the junk is already lurking in my tank ready to attack that weak fish. Buy healthy fish. Don't be afraid to treat for ich. I tried garlic in the early stages of ich...it did nothing. Kris

So, after the meeting today, I decided to come home and take a few pics. Here is a full tank shot. Most of the gang...and the left side of the tank. Fox Face, Sixline, Domino, Blue tang and assorted coral and my clam This is the now, somewhat bare, right side. The white rock came from Dsoz and the frags from various folks! I figured out if I take pictures at an angle from the side, they turn out a little better. My favorite is the picture of "the gang". Kris

I searched for the previous thread and couldn't locate it, so I just started a new one. We force split several anemones at Dsoz's house back in November. Here is a pic I took today of the RBTA that I won. It is about the size of a half dollar and it moved from one side of the tank to the other. I am curious as to how the others did. Kris

I had the same thing happen with both my Foxface and Blue Tang. They both consumed so much of the algea on my rocks that their wee tummies bulged out! Silly fish! I prayed they didn't pop, and now that the algea is diminished, they have gone back to normal. Kris

150, 175, 250 then 400's and then crazy wattage there after! Remember that your ballast is the key to getting the wattage you so desire. I am not sure what it is, but there is a term used for using a higher watt ballast on a lower watt bulb...someone here will know!

There are several places around the Aquarium to stay. Last year we stayed at a Camp site (member site) and made a weekend out of it! It was really a ton of fun and I loved the behind the scenes tours! We are very lucky as a group to be able to do this! I want to thank John for his countless hours spent with emails and phone calls to get this all set up! Kris

I have built two acrylic sumps...if you have the RIGHT tools for the job...it isn't bad. The main thing is a clean, straight cut so the pieces match up. The next biggy is the glueing or in this case, welding of the pieces.
