  1. Im thinking the same, after I posted I was thinking.... "Or was it 6.8?" and low 7's into the output.
  2. So what are you shooting for internal PH? Jay told me a number and I can't remember what he said.... was like 7.2 or something.
  3. Well.... I just setup my first one 2 days ago.... Jay told me to make sure the output water is slow (I had to get a valve to adjust it down) and make sure the output water is released to a fast moving part of water. So Mine has a fast drip over the output of my skimmer, then hits the return pump. This helps remove the c02 from the water from the reactor water and return your ph to a more realistice number. Watch your PH close for a while! And Personally I recommend using a reactor media not crap substrait. Other than that let her rip, I just filled mine at Industrial source, it was dirt cheap.
  4. Also cutting the overhead beam would be easy "IF" this is not a support beam for the living area, and just the storage area ONLY. If the beam goes into the living room.... well.... good luck.
  5. OK... Since I have been there and seen it let me ask a question... What if I had a friend thats a licensed contractor come out and cut the upper storage area short (you would have to have 4x4 supports to the ground) and then you would have room for the MH and be able to move them higher. You would lose some storage but heck thats the least of worries. Second for easier access I would consider a decorative facaude on the front that has an opening from the living room for easy access. ITs not as clean is whats in the living room now but if its done right to match your existing trim colors and patterns it would look like it belongs.

    OK. AC is needed

its 1 ton per 600 to 700 sq ft. 1 ton equals 12,000 btu I run a 2 ton split mini ac at my place. Cools the whole house (1300 sq ft) cost me 800 plus shipping off ebay. Locally it was $4800. Also heats and has an evaporation mode to just pull water from the air. The downfall of the slpit is it isnt central air its a single cooling location. So it should be placed in a central location, but it does have adjustable turning veins via remote control to help. I held 70 degrees all weekend. Also note the condenser sits outside like a regular unit and the small coil goes inside pushing the cool "quiet" air through the coolant lines. You can get a window ac for about 1/3 less but this is more efficient and much quieter.
  7. I was up late installing new calcium reactor, by the time I was all done lights where out. :( I will try tonight. The purple rim lost just a tad of color in shipment to my place, other than that all is well.
  8. Ya, as you know this is my first SW tank, and I was trying to clean it off with the magfloat. LOL ya right. so out comes the scraper. Im happy though. I just filled the tank with another 100 pounds of LR, Im guessing I have about 225-250 pounds in there now, and the hair algae is coming off fast, hardest part is capturing it all before it plugs my mesh filters. And too think; what was it, about 2 weeks ago I was getting so pissed off at the algae. I tell ya, this hobby really tests your patience. I sat looking at the algae almost in tears... I now need a new motorcycle to relieve me of the stresses that my fishtank give me. At least thats what Im selling to my wife. LOL. The best part is my 5 year old can properly name everything in the tank and give adult education on the animals that live in there. Other than these mysterious "Saxy" shrimp in there. LOL (scratch) Sarah has meet him a few times, he gets a kick out of the whole thing.
  9. My tank is off limits for another month. But I do have coraline growing on the glass now. Fun stuff. LOL
  10. I will try and get a non blurry pic tonight, superman looks great, and the purple rim is looking quite killer. I have the worlds crappiest cam... I will post but... uh... well see. Neighbor has a D-SLR cam, but that means I have to invite him in my house... ERRR.

    Heat

I had to buy either a chiller for tank or AC for the house. I went with a 2 ton AC for the house, tank at 78, house at 72. Wife is actually happy about this purchase. LOL
  12. We can always get together for cold beverages and dinner at Stacies, and tour de' Nyles and Sarahs. LOL, Course Im sold at cold beverages.
  13. You should contact manufacrure for that, presonally I wouldn't. As far as the rest, with my setup the color is good but it doesn't look quite as blue as upscales, so next round I will be removing one of the blue plus and ordering a full itanic. But at far at growth I got plenty. I may at some point order a 6500 but right now I see no point, the 11k provide a good "Band" or array of light that everything seems to like. Thats all I will say, Im sure there is things in tanks that like the 6500 more but as far as SPS these guys are fine. I woul probably go 2 11k on blueplus and a itanic. If you really want swap out a 11k for a 6500. Its preference really I think you will get good growth either way. Just remeber the 11k's are really [language filter] bright. I run 5. My tank has the same light intensity or close to the smae as upscales but the blue isnt quite as intense. I will fix that at prevoiusly described.
  14. You can come over and Look, I run ATI 5x 11k and 3 x blue plus. Guesmen bulb. I personaly would stay away from the GE till it has a bit more testing, but thats just me. When I look at the light charts it apears they have a much narrower band of light then the gueissmen / ati bulbs. and what you save 4 bucks? If I was to do a 4 bulb I would probably go with 2 11k, single blue plus and if it makes you feel better a daylight. But honestly the growth should be very close with the 11k, I don't run any daylight and with my combo the growth is excellent. I got the advice from tank of the month from a guy in Europe and it has really paid off. If you look at the daylight bulb it much more "Yellow" than the daylight thats white.
  15. Cmon, that pic does it no justice. Looks much better than that.
  16. PERFECT. BTW I got the zenia split 3 times. (scratch) and the clown finally hosted the sebae
  17. I will leave my office at about 4 today.. I will see ya a little after 7 then. You want any bloodworms? I got tons and Im not using them, or maybe some krill? LOL
  18. I could use some more if its not alot of trouble. I can come get..... Today?
  19. Not anymore, too dang addictive. I found myself not doing any of my regular duties and wife was looking at investing in new life insurance for me. Figured I better find a new hobby.
  20. Here is a pic of the pedals. LOL. I overkill everything.
  21. You need to come over and experience a driving sim... Good fun. Of course I would have to move some fish stuff to get to it. LOL
  22. I have been using the Reef Chili (freeze dried zoo / phyto) in the morning do to the fact what LPS I have are all open in the morning, not during the reg feeding. The other fish have caugh on, and I have to feed it a little on the heavy side or the food is robbed from the LPS. But in less than a month I am already experiencing splits from the change in feeding schedule.
