cjmdh
I have been running a DCT-4000 on my 55g tank for a year and a half. Just a cleaning here and there and it has done great. I had a very restrictive UV sterilizer in line on the return and had to run the pump at 10. I took the sterilizer out and now I cannot get above 2 without making a mess. I have a DCT-8000 for my 120 build. Edited April 13, 2017 by cjmdh
Higher Thinking
I've been running the DCT 12000 for just over 18 months. Number of times I've cleaned it: 0Sent from my HTCONE using Tapatalk

Well I ran a Jeabo for a while on that 40 breeder you saw in the garage. I also run a DC pump on a skimmer in my big tank and also the return is a DC pump but is an M1 and works flawlessly........ I have seen manufacturer's info saying they are unsuitable for skimmers such as Beckett and down draft types (presumably due to back pressure issues) but this seems a bit odd since they are given head ratings similar to standard AC pumps. What were you running yours on?

I am wondering about driving my injection spray skimmer (which has backpressure like a becket or Venturi) with a DC pump to get some increased efficiency and adjustability but am hesitant due to the disclaimers. Would be nice to know if it works for someone else.
Ninjabeaver
I think mine is a D.C. 9000 for almost two years with no problems. Sent from the bottom of the sea.

I am guessing I am missing something here.

Glad it's working well for you!
