  1. While I was in "time out" from PNWMAS, I made some serious headway on my 600.  The tank is actually all the way full now and flowing with warm water, but here is what it looked like last weekend.

You know you have a big tank when you dump an entire 60lb bag of salt in the system and it raises the salinity .05.

    So yeah..

  2. get the dying frags out of there!!   In that last picture I am almost certain that frag is getting beat up because it is being stung by the adjacent hammer coral.

That is why it looks so hammered.  LOL, get it.. hammered.. because like the hammer...  ok, back to work.

  3. Looking good.  It is nice that you don't have your supply RO line mounted directly to the drywall.  When it gets a little warmer, the RO line WILL be covered in condensate.  Looks like you have it mounted in tubes as it passes through the wall which is also really nice.

  4. Brook usually causes patches of mucus to build up on the skin..which is caused by the skin sloughing off.

If you dont see any outward signs (skin irritations, patches that "look weird" or I have seen pictures where it presents like squiggly lines) you are probably fine.

It is an external parasite and will not cause stringy poop. A 45 minute bath in formalin will kill it.

If your in pdx in the future give me a holler and I can give you some formalin. It's good to have around.

  5. I used their controllers on two tanks.  The first one never had an issue.  The second about 3 months in the probe crapped out.  I emailed them and they sent me the new sealed version of the probe to swap it out with.  Not sure if they have two different versions salty and not so salty, but the new probe worked great until I switched to Apex.
Something you should be aware of... Apex does not recommend that you use their plug for temperature control. I know, it's kind of ridiculous but it came straight from Terrance and I have heard him say it a couple times.

They suggest setting a high temp cutoff and using a third party controller. Supposedly it wears out the relays. Dunno, just thought I would pass it along.
