  1. Is there air or water trapped in the reactor? That would be the only reason I've experienced a higher ph would occur. Make sure it is flushed out thoroughly with tank water, by even putting the reactor upside down for a few seconds. Or perhaps the circulation pump isn't strong enough to flush it out. Once the ph is the same only then turn on the co2.
  2. Yes, bryopsis sucks. I got a bit of it from a frag, but was able to keep it in check. Soon I got a new tank so it wasn't an issue anymore. But I always feel it's enviable if you have a tank long enough. ...now if there was a cure for apstasia that worked as well...?
  3. I can't remember the name off the top of my head. It was a cheap one given to the kids as a Christmas gift that Dad took over hehe Yes, back in the day when I was learning to fly my first Heli I would spend hours almost every day in the garage learning. But it's like riding a bike, you never forget! Because of my heli experience, I was able to translate my "tricks" directly to the drone, no learning curve. All my RCing has been hand built and electric, expect for the planes which were gas...my Dad and I built the first plane, as I now hope to do with my kids one day
  4. Yes! Over the years I've had 3 planes, 3 cars, 2 helis, and now only an indoor drone I chase the kids and cat with. When the kids get older I plan to get back into it, I've already notified the wifie
  5. Bubbles will be created but won't accumulate to foam in only fresh water. A single steam on bubbles sounds like the pin wheel is broken our missing. It's what will agitate the water to create lots of bubbles.
  6. I think your imagegif should be image.gif...it's not showing

    "Undisclosed location"!?! LOL
  8. An anemone on a payment plan!?! LOL
  9. Plug it in and run it! You'll know real quick what is missing or broken
  10. [language filter]...I wish I could have a 125 gal sump...
  11. I have housed every type of anemone available over the years. When I first started I actually had a tank with a rose bubble tip, rainbow bubble tip, long tentacle, ritteri, carpet, and sebae all together because I loved anemones so much. But they started eating my fish, growing and splitting, so I started giving them away online and to LFS. I now just stick with the Ritteri because I find it the most challenging, the others are "boring". The carpet being the easiest and most aggressive at catching fish. And when I find an anemone at a local fish store in dire need of TLC, I am more than happy to take it because I am FULLY 100% confident I can recoup it, if it "looks" right. LOL Sometimes it may be too late or too far gone to make a recovery. Tips on rescuing an anemone? Yes... Have ALOT of patience. Depending on conditions, of the anemone, water, and type of anemone, recovery can take a REALLY long time, months easily. Make sure there is A LOT of proper lighting. If the anemone is not doing well, it may go into hiding to recoup, but as long as its foot is sticking, it's surviving. It will come out of hiding or reach for lighting when needed. During the recoup process it ONLY needs light. The tentacles and mouth will tell you when it's ready to eat. For example, I have seen a 6" anemone shrink to 2" and go into the back of the tank for almost a month before moving back into the light and making a full recovery. Make sure your water parameters are 100% good, especially during the recoup period. When in excellent health the anemone can take changes in water parameters with no changes in visual or behavior. But in a weaker state it will react immediately. The anemone will reflect the conditions it's living in, so "read" the anemone. The texture and behavior of the tentacles, oral disc and mouth directly reflect the "health" of the anemone. Don't poke, probe, or try to move the anemone when it is recouping. If the lighting is good, water parameters are good, it's up to the anemone to recover, and it will if it is strong enough. Anemones naturally get damaged in the wild, so they can recover on their own. The wifie calls me the anemone whisperer...so go figure...LOL
  12. If you can find the clownfish, as a size reference she's about 4".
  13. I had a 2 year old melinarus, was about 5". Was a doll in the tank, loved to eat. But when it came time to move to another state, he was SOOO aggressive when trying to get it out. Also when I realized how sharp his teeth were! Draining the tank for the move was the only way I could get him out. Sad to say he didn't survive the move though :(
  14. Hello! I've been a reefer for over 15 years, currently only have a 120gal, located in North Bend, WA. My prized possession is an 18" Riterri I've had for 5 years. My previous one didn't survive the move up here from SF, which was also 18" and 8 years old. Both of which I considered "rescued" started at about 5" and on the brink of death from the LFS. I've recently dealt with the death of 3 fish (kids named them): A blue hippo tang (Dory) @ 7yrs old, a magnificent foxface (Robo Fishy) @ 5yrs old, and a salfin tang (Sally) @ 5yrs old. Was looking for the PSAS for comfort and found you guys! I look forward to the discussions!
  15. Awwhhh that's sad to hear PSAS closed up shop. Back in the day I gave away and traded some corals and fish with some of those members. Was hoping to catch back up. Yes, I be requested to join the NW reef keeping FB group, but have yet to be accepted :(
  16. Was out of the loop for a while growing a family. About 4 years ago the PSAS had their own website and forum, but now I can't find anything. Is it still around and active? Looks like this group is Portland oriented? Just curious.... Thanks
  17. Increased salt quantities becomes toxic to plants. If it rains, it will dilute the salt.
  18. I can't reply to a classified ad, but can start a new topic!?! Classified rules says you can't post until after you have 25 posts, but does that mean new topics or replies, or both? Still wouldn't explain why I wouldn't be able to reply to an ad, hmph.
  19. Drove by there this past weekend to not see them there anymore!?! They spent such a long time getting up and running, never saw many people inside, then they just disappeared!?! Was a good option for reef shopping in the Seattle area. What's the story?
