  1. Micah, from my understanding new forum software comes with many optimization capabilities.

Utilizing / tweaking this optimization options will affect bandwidth, data space, memory, code execution time, etc

All these parameters are server capability dependent.

Is IP.Board still offering their own hosting in one package with the software.

Are current server up for the tweaking? Looking at what it has poorly done for the vbulletin when you tweaked it, I doubted the current server up to task.

  2. hmmm...should we address the current server capability first before deciding on new software.

New software require better server for it to function properly.

This current platform if moved to better server it will function much faster. Need ample room to play so do speak.

  3. IMO, the new software should be implemented in a separate new site parallel to this one, after the new one functional only then we can move to the new software.

Archiving old data should be implemented into the new site.

I think this is what Micah was talking about then. He said it is difficult to debugging ongoing site because too many uncontrolled variables.

We have plenty of IT people here, I hope many can voice your solution to this issue.

This way all criticism in the discussion will be built in the new site before this going into motion.

  4. Just before the power back on your sump is at highest point it will drop as your main circulation pump start working.

So when you set your skimmer at middle sump level then it will overflow when your sump at highest point.

You can solve the issue by raising your skimmer using larger diameter pvc pipe as plat form or delay start your skimmer pump

if possible after main circulation pump running about 15 minutes and bring back the normal water level in the sump.

  5. Would everyone agree this thread has run it's course?

Buyer and seller already spoken, I say yes it served the purpose as open vendor feedback.

You may want to announce the rule again seem some don't know about leaving feedback for vendor and why it should be in that specific forum.

  6. I like golden baskets corals and will get more when my new tank is set up. Should give him a shot Micah. Visit his facility before buying. Actually are we allowed to just come to the shop to check things out?

  7.

    Simple enough.

Do you ever communicate the problem to us?

Do you ever exercise 14 days guarantee that we offer?

If your answers is no, why would you say you have a problem in that feedback???

Do you know that there is vendor forum for this kind of situation?

You response here only clouded the drama

Plus I gave you a way out which is to buy in person so you don't have any issue.

  8. Drama will always here in public forum.

I would encourage members to see past the drama and speak out to discuss the very issues

    we are facing here.

The issue that being discuss is about vendor feedback posted in open thread to attack

vendor not once but twice. Clearly the person that doing this as personal forum member

or as a person with high position in the club is in the wrong and violated forum rules.

That is why his post being removed.

The question that forum people discussing is whether the club has different sets of rules

in this situation being the violator is a high ranking officer.

The big implication that need to be discus also is by doing repeat bashing outside vendor forum

this leader leads by bad example. He gave a green light for all members and people in forum

to ignore forum rules and bashing fellow members or vendors. The drama start and end to this person.

I am sure the bods and officers will deal with this issue instead of letting it go unresolved.

Second issue is about the validity of Kevin’s buying experience.

Since this is the second time he has expressed his bad buying experience I will address this issue

    here in the open.

Kevin bought from GB twice and both purchases are for one item each and a gift certificate.

One purchase in March and another during live sales in August.

All these months Kevin never once communicate the problem to me and he never exercise

the 14 days guarantee that we offer.

It is clear to me that he has no issue, he just throwing punches and using an excuse as personal

buying experience for the good of the community.

Each one of us should question him if my statement above true or not.

This situation is nothing more than Kevin’s personal agenda and his express animosity toward GB.

A person in leadership position making up story as excuse to attack vendor and confrontational in nature

is simply a poor leader. He has use his position to accomplish his personal agenda to attack GB.

Bods member has advised him to apologize during the first incident which he did and 2 minutes later

he sent another email to retract his apology. ???

Kevin needs to address his own problem.

Sad situations but these are issues that we have to face.

Knowing this happening and still keep quite then soon enough we don’t have a forum

to discuss about our reef hobby.

  9. This is all I can do since I'm banned from GB for leaving a neutral comment. Good popcorn though..

  10.

You seem to love putting words in other peoples mouths. Feel free to take your foot out of yours.

I think people need to just stop posting negativity.

MrBret/GoldenBasket - Killer frags! If you guys didn't hate me, I'd be tempted to snag some of those! You know, if they weren't all juiced up in the pics. :) *poke* (completely joking). Good luck with the sale.

Hate you?...Never...the word hate is never in my vocab

Yes we have heated debate in the past and I left that in the forum and never hold grudges.

Number one rule in sales, all people are potential buyer.

    Don't hate/mad but take their money...lol

You are always welcome to buy online or come check out my place.

  11. This thread is a very bad example of why we need vendors feedback forum to voice one personal purchase experience.

The participants are victim of ill intention of the instigator.

"Purchase problem should be communicated with the seller to come up with resolution.

If seller no help then open vendors feedback to voice your opinion and get a response from seller."

  12. Kevin, let me pointed out to you why your post is not appropriate since you don't have a clue what is going on.

As an individual member you have to know forum rules about posting.

As a president of the club you should not know the rules of posting. Shame and no excuse and you are not helping the community.

You know the drill, open vendors feedback, state the number of time you bought from GB and explain in detail your problem.

All this time I have never heard a word about your problem, I say it again here I AM NOT PSYCHIC TO KNOW YOUR PROBLEM AND CAN RESOLVE THEM.

This is a blind jab coming from individual members or worst coming from club president.

I guest vendor forums is not your style and like to do it in the open, so your are encouraging others to by pass the vendors feedback forum.

You have repeatedly showing as the negative force of this forum.

You don't want to use your Golden Basket GC that is your choice, nothing to be proud about your decision to parade here.

My reply to you still the same, if you don't want to use it than just donate to the club for other member/s to enjoy.

  13. I for one have to say not only that I appreciate the moderators doing their jobs here but I also appreciate this kind of conversation. Things cannot change if the conversation isn't happening.

Rudy has always been a stand up guy and his stock is excellent. I can attest as a long time customer on both the retail and wholesale front and as a competitor on both the retail and wholesale front. Rudy is a top notch guy and deserves nothing but respect.

Disrespecting a sponsor of this club is not ok. Moderating said disrespect is much appreciated. I think the BOD in place is working hard to make sure that this forum continues and that it progresses in the right direction. The club has seen better days but I do think that it will see even better days if the BOD continues to error on the side of ethical practice.

    Amen.

G, we are best buddy not competitor at all.

  14. Our gratitude always for all your support. We always do our best to help make this club better.

We have been in business since 1987 to provide quality products and service.

Have a blessed Thanksgiving to you and family.

  15. While we all have opinions about each of the retailers we deal with' date=' it is always important to be careful about undue criticism. Some individuals may have negative experiences with retailers and they should be allowed to candidly state that. However, PNWMAS does not stand for or tolerate subjecting our sponsors to public bashing. I cannot attest to the reasoning behind Kevin's post apart from the fact that he honestly thought he was helping a member. However, as the Public Relations officer, I apologize for the post and wish that each of you continue to build up this forum. This is a place where information is shared, hobbyists are born and nourished, and local businesses help the hobby as we help them. Happy Thanksgiving!! And thank you all. [/quote']

One time is understandable but multiple times just plain rude or intentional.

As we all know there is vendors feedback forum to voice one opinion about buying experience.

But the president of this club like to bring out negative vibe against his own post that always calling for positive contribution.

This is the reason GB is not renewing sponsorship. The president has personal agenda to bashing GB every time he could and

will remove his own post at will. If regular member doing it there will repercussion of the action.

  16.

I am responding to this as a paying member of this club, not as a board member.

It does not take a rocket scientist, or even a statistician to see that the traffic and participation on this site has dropped dramatically.

Do you really think that this "organic healing" that you speak of is nurtured by publicly insulting the members?

By doing this you are a negative force in this forum/site/club.

    +1

Micah, both you are the people in the forum are frustrated with continue problem.

We all know your effort and couldn't say enough thank you for your effort.

However, your hours of volunteer effort to get the site back is not a license to insult members especially when you hold position.

It is just bad if executives start insulting sponsor and members.

The last admins was given only 2 weeks or so to get the site up and running, then for the reason of not fast enough work they

    are forced out.

Micah has been doing the admin solo for a couple months maybe, and we are back at ground 0

This looks trial and error on software, if that is the case then we don't have experts that know and familiar with the software.

The last thing to do is blaming software performance.

I would have been cautious about adopting or upgrading new software if we don't even know what the software will perform.

This continue problem with the site and people doesn't help the overall well being of this forum.

This forum has become a private craig list with very little discussion about reef keeping.

  17. Nice!

Yes, I am aware a lot of conversation about Triton test here and in EU.

This test bring about a lot of variables that we hope once day able to comprehend and become constant that we can somehow control

for the better of our eco system creation.

Triton method starting with the test and then additives suppose to not change tank water.

Actually I was once finding his website when I was searching for information on LED and he has a really nice dt.

I am not sure if the other site already discuss this situation.

Most do have water change regularly and the test result still showing some questionable anomaly, I see most received recommendation

to do water change for corrective action. For those that already done water change regularly how would the water change will be working

for corrective action when actual regular water change already resulted in the anomaly being there in the first place.

    Changing salt perhaps.

We always told by expert to always test and know the level before we add or dose any chemical into our tank, otherwise we blindly

    treat our tank.

This is the reason that Triton suggested to do the test regularly also to know if any corrective action taken place resulted in better reading.

In the past we always rely on experience about the result of using certain brand additives, this is why some people do better with certain products.

Now with the triton test we'll be able to better understand, hopefully so, and can explain why certain brand or certain equipment is better.

Yup too many new variables to comprehend. Now we need the battery industry technology how to neutralize Li :)
