  1. Thanks! I've had the mystery wrasse for a while and he can be slightly territorial at times, but he's a wuss at heart. He will often flare up around new tank members and try to show them who's boss, but he never really nips at another fish. He's the most mischievous and the biggest loner in the wrasse pack, but not much of a bully.
  2. Here are a couple of new additions to the tank: Male Bluestar Leopard Wrasse I've been talking with Jeff for a while about getting this wrasse and now I finally have one, I mean two !! Big thanks to Jeff at C&C!! Both are females and the smaller one is in an acclimation box with a Mauritius Jeweled Leopard Wrasse, as they are a bit smaller and need some time for the other fish to get used to them, so they don't get bullied. I'll try to get some photos of those guys soon. Female Blue Striped Tamarin Wrasse
  3. Here's some photo's of the tank from early December that I forgot to post.
  4. While I also prefer to buy tank raised when possible, tank raised fish can still carry disease and parasites... Sorry to hear about the shipment. That can be very stressful.
  5. Let me know if you have some, I'm hoping to get them ASAP.
  6. The Lucky Lab on Hawthorne in SE Portland has meeting space.

    Fts friday -

Looking good! Nice meeting you at the aquarium.
  8. Powder Blue's and Achilles Tangs are not compatible! While both species can get along with other tangs, they are very aggressive towards one another and housing them in the same tank should not be attempted. Pick the one you like more and sell the other. Or, if you have to have both, set up a second tank; just don't put them together and expect anything other than aggression, ich and eventually loss of fish.
  9. If you're in the Portland area sometime, I'd take as much GSP off your hands as you're looking to get rid of. Just PM me and we can work out a deal if you're interested. I had a tiger cowrie that munched on my Tyree toadstool as well. Got rid of him before he completely killed it.
  10. I need to get a new circuit installed for my new tank and I wanted to reach out to see if anyone on here is an electrician and would be willing to lend a hand or if anyone has recommendations of a good electrician in the Portland area that won't break the bank. First quote I got was pretty high. Thanks!
  11. Honestly, I'm not too sure. I fed the frag regularly in the beginning and only fed it like once in the last month. I kept it in slightly lower light and lower flow. The frag was growing in size early on, but I wasn't seeing a ton of new heads popping up until the end. I had less growth on one side and that may have been due to flow and lighting, but I rotated the frag a bit in the past couple of months and that side finally grew in with the new heads. The heads are large enough now that it's pretty cool watching the polyps move with the flow in the tank. I've also noticed some significant growth in my LPS and zoa's over the past month as well. I've had a torch for about 10 months that hadn't grown much until the past two months when it grew significantly. SPS growth has been slightly slower and was more affected by the alk swing I had.
  12. Here's a couple photos of my frag. The first one was taken a few weeks ago, but it's a cool shot of the frag, so I figured I'd share it. The second one I took tonight and it shows the side where at lot of smaller heads popped up in the last month. Hoping this thing continues growing at this pace, it's been fun keeping tabs on it.
  13. I shouldn't have been listed as DQ'ed then, because I posted on time, with photos and polyp count. As I stated previously, I am 100% positive I posted on time with photos and I even posted the photo metadata and dates to prove it. I'm not sure why I was ever listed as that, and I can only assume my post was missed. Honestly though, I really don't care. I wanted to participate in a grow out for the community of it and to see how my growth would stack up to others. I wouldn't have defended myself had I not done everything I was supposed to. If you are now going to say that you are DQ'ing me for my post back in August, that's fine, but I can assure you it was your mistake, not mine. I posted with everyone else and it's not my fault my post was missed. No hard feelings here, give it to the next guy in line. I'll post some more pics for you guys though.
  14. Tank looks great! Digging the rock work and OBD rimless. It's going to look awesome when everything is grown in!
  15. Despite an alk swing during vaca, I've had quite a few new heads pop up (and probably noticed a few I hadn't seen last month). I also had one head that grew into three. I counted 21 heads (counted 5 times to make sure). It's also grown off the frag plug most of the way around and the area it hasn't is where I had the most new heads pop up, so it should be fully off the plug soon.
  16. Looks awesome! I went with OBD for my custom cube and I'm very happy with it so far. The make some good looking tanks! Looking forward to seeing your progress!
  17. Thanks a lot Drew Brees... I'm rooting for Jeff now!! haha
  18. There are larger fixtures available, but you'll have to rethink you're lighting budget if you want one. You'll save money on your electric bill once you get one and won't have bulb replacement fees. An IT2080 would do well on a 48" tank.
  19. Portland cement will work. E400 is great but it's way more expensive.
  20. Hey Doug, I never got a response to the PM I sent you. Just want to make sure you got it. Thanks!
  21. Awesome deals! That torch deal may be too good to pass up. See you Friday.
