  1. Yeah, root tabs are capsules of fertilizers. Sand substrate requires them more because nutrient rich water doesn't circulate down there as easily.
  2. WINNER WINNER! Number 3 wins POTM. Congratulations FishmanMike!
  3. I'll get some pics. I started to just increase feeding and it looks like most of the mantle has healed. Maybe I satisfied the fish's appetite and encouraged it to not eat the clam....Maybe it was all just a coincidence, Idk. Either way, last check it seemed like everything was markedly improved.
  4. Great work. Be sure to use root tabs for the sand. Especially the foreground plant (sagittaria subulata?)
  5. Per forum rules, please include a price.
  6. Is your tank cycled? Better make sure that process is taken care of before you start with the live stock. Looking good though!
  7. Haha! That's crazy man! Good to hear though. Better get those areas blocked.
  8. Yikes! Yeah, I would've definitely gone a different route. Oh well, nothing you can do now for those that didn't survive. What I would do though, is get a nice piece of live rock from a member and seed the tank in hopes of halting any further problems. Bacteria can double about every 24 hours, so a nice piece of established rock should do wonders for you.
  9. No you can't. Dehumidifiers work by passing air around a very cold metal coil, usually copper. I wouldn't trust that water in a freshwater tank, let alone a reef. Even if it doesn't have copper, there could still be other traces of hard metals.
  10. This has been moved to the WTB section.
  11. What trouble would you be referring to? I don't think there is any trouble with reduced humidity apart from what I posted above about personal preference.
  12. I also run one and I set it to 45%. My wife and I originally had it around 35%, but you can really notice that dryness in the air. It was a bit irritating on our throats during sleep. As far as what works for your condensation issue, that is based on your house. A house with triple paned windows will be able to handle much more humidity with no condensation compared to a house with single pane windows. There is also the issue of air circulation and the amount of fresh air coming in and stale air going out. Maybe there are more variables, but I can't think of them at the moment. Also, most all units will have an auto shut off when full and/or you can hook a tube up to it and let it drain somewhere continuously. The units turn on and off depending on the humidity. That's why you can set it to a certain percentage and it will maintain it there.
  13. Dang, real sorry to hear about that. What was the situation with the fish, again? New arrival?
  14. That seems like a great idea. How did you guys organize and run the auction?
  15. Send a PM to Chief. He'll take care of it. Although he might just see this post.
  16. You don't post your vote. You have to use the poll. You won't see it on tapatalk, you need to go to web view.
  17. Voting starts tomorrow. Last night for submissions.
  18. Glad you like it. Site has been extremely easy to use since Kevin switched us to the new software. This new software is way better. The banner should be up within a day of paying, I thought. Please post again if you don't see it soon.
  19. I just haven't paid yet. My bad. Poor example, but I'll get on it. [emoji4] [emoji4]
  20. I had the same issue, but when I hit the back button and clicked the link again, it worked.
  21. Mark your calendars folks! From a presentation by the Cold Water crew in October, to the Christmas party in December, and then an awesome presentation by Scott Fellman last week, our meetings have been coming around in full swing. We are proud to announce our next meeting scheduled for February 8th at 4:00 PM. Our next meeting will be held at the Portland Aquarium. We are happy to announce that we have a special arrangement with the Aquarium that will allow members to get admission for only $5. Even better, the club has allocated funds to cover that cost. That means that all paid members will get free admission to the aquarium. Spouses, friends, and children are certainly welcome but they will have to cover their additional admission cost. Tickets at the door are $11 for adults and $8 for children under 12, but if you buy online you can save yourself $3. This is going to be another great time, especially as we all gain knowledge from the supportive staff at the aquarium. We hope to see you all there, especially all your smiling children!!
