  1. I have a sixline in my 10 gallon and have NEVER seen a bristle worm in there... nor a flat worm for that matter. I originally got her to solve a flatworm problem. I had flatworm exit resistant flatworms. That was in my 2 gallon tank. I liked my sixline so much, I built the 10 gallon for her. She is a model citizen though. Not a jerk like some sixlines that I hear about, but the only other fish in the tank is a Yellow watchman goby and she spends all of her time at the pistol shrimp den, so there are no territory disputes. Personally, I love sixlines... or at least mine, and she does eat bristle worms. I'm quite certain that I would have seen one by now if she didn't eat them all. There are a few in the pest tank that I see regularly. Hey, speaking of which, if you have an excess of bristle worms, I'd love to add a few more to the pest tank... Got any fire worms?
  2. Oh no! I hope everything is going to be ok.
  3. P.S. Stay tuned to my thread. I'll be posting some major updates as the competition the tank is enrolled in ends October 1st. I'll be making a new video and taking lots of pictures.
  4. Nice tank! Welcome to the pico club! I'm the guy with the pest tank that everyone is so impressed with. I definitely prefer smaller tanks. My largest is 10 gallons. I have a 7.5 gallon majano propagation tank as well. Soon there will be a 25-30 gallon peacock mantis tank in the mix. It's nice to see more pico tank owners!
  5. Personally, I like to look of a 1-2" sand bed. I also think it's important to keep the sand stirred. I have plenty of sand sifting snails. I'm a big fan of Nassarius Vibex. They are excellent at picking up any leftover meaty foods that end up on the sand bed, and they're constantly stirring the sand around. Between the nassarius snails and my pistol shrimp, detritus never really gets a chance to build up. One exception is under the MP10, and I vacuum that section regularly with water changes. Bare bottom can look really nice, but I don't know that it's all that much less maintenance. It's just different. IMO.

  8. Bump! It's tonight folks! Come join us for nerdy saltwater conversation and lots of fun!
  9. And... this weekend is the last weekend I'll be busy for a while. Next time. Next time.
  10. Hey Thomas, If you like anemones, do you want some of the pretty majanos?
  11. Hang in there bro, there will be more in the future... I usually do these once a month or so. In 5 months, I'll still be doing them.
  12. Ok folks, it's time for another Happy Hour. It's been too long, and the summer is coming to a close. It's time to start up the happy hours again! The Place: Slingshot Lounge Location: 5532 Southeast Center Street Portland, OR 97206‎ Time: 5:30pm-6pm or whenever someone gets there first. We usually hang out until at least 9pm, so if you can't get there early, we'll probably still be hanging around. As always, much fun will be had. Please join us if you can. You'll learn volumes of useful information and make some great friends in the process. If you're going to show up late and want to see if we're still there or want further info, feel free to call or text 503-342-7939. (Note: this is a temporary burner number and I don't have the ringer for it turned on, so I might not immediately respond) P.S. This event is not affiliated with PNWMAS at all, it's just me inviting you to join a couple of us for nerdy aquarium chit-chat. It's fun!
  13. Right. If you're going to organize something like this, keep it on the down-low.
  14. Well, it looks like someone might want to organize a "Reefer Happy Hour" of sorts. There's obviously an interest. I'll stick to the booze happy hours. In fact, I'll post up a booze happy hour later tonight.
  15. Oh no... I'm going to be buying drinks for the entire club, aren't I?
  16. Well, if I've ever offended anybody, come to the next happy hour I post up and I'll buy you a drink.
  17. Hey, I got a wacky idea though. If someone in particular does something you don't like. PM them and say something along the lines of, "Hey, could you keep your comments for focused. It's making it difficult for me to follow the thread." Unless, of course, it's the majority of people, then a thread like this is appropriate. My guess is that whoever is the offending party might not realize their errors and wouldn't mind a friendly reminder. Anyhow, that seems more useful than a general angry post to everyone about being disrespectful.
  18. Uh oh. Did I go off on a tangent in someones thread again? I know I've been guilty of doing that in the past. In the immortal words of Gold Five, "Stay on target. Stay on target."
  19. I'm very interested to see what you come up with. I'm surprised there aren't more smaller skimmers out there for nano tanks. Is scalability a problem with making skimmers really small? I would think there's a limit as to how small they can be and still have any level of efficiency since the biggest issues are bubble size and contact time with the water. Too small and you don't have enough contact time with the water.
  20. What do you have in mind? Are you thinking airstone skimmer or something fancier?
  21. That's so weird to see both a compliment and the word daewoo in the same sentence.
