  1. Today, I got something fun for the the car! Lowering springs and Koni adjustable shocks... I had a spare couple hours this afternoon and voila... BEFORE and AFTER (35mm drop): I'd say it's about perfect. Nice and firm, but not rough or jarring.

I would say vermetid snails, too. All of the ones I have a really small, but they can get annoying... especially when handling live rock, they're kinda sharp. I don't really like them, but I don't go out of my way to smash them or anything. Sometimes I scrape them off if they're in an annoying spot.
  3. I'm calling shenanigans. It's just too outrageous. This is just somebody getting their joke on.
  4. I guess regardless, it wouldn't hurt to try to get some electrical contact cleaner into the switch if that's possible.
  5. Yeah, this. Almost every car has a dimmer for the dash lights. Older cars like that usually have a dimmer that's a sweep arm that contacts a metal resistor spring. They get corrosion between the sweep arm and the spring. I'm a European car guy, but I remember old american cars having the dash lights dim by turning the headlight switch, but I honestly have no idea on your car as I've never even touched one. My co-worker also guessed that it would be a turn the headlight switch knob kinda deal.
  6. We only have wiring diagrams for Swedish cars here at work, but if you have a wiring diagram, I could probably figure it out in a matter of minutes. Computer systems and electrical are my specialty.
  7. Does it have a dash light rheostat? Did you try messing with that? Sometimes they get a bad connection and have to be operated back and forth for a little while to get them going again.
  8. Ok, that just answered my question that I asked you in PM. I'd like to see it.
  9. Once you've had a mantis shrimp, you get hooked. They have incredible personalities. I can't even see them as pests any more. I want to rescue them all!
  10. Mantis shrimp are very smart. When going after crabs, they go straight for the claws to disarm them. Mine has a graveyard of smashed dwarf cerith snail shells.

  12. It would be a 4" peacock. The ideal tank size would be like a 30 cube, but we'll see what's available. I have a couple friends on nano-reef with peacock mantis who have set up some really nice MOWLR (Mantis only with live rock) tanks. I won't be lighting the tank at all with maybe the exception of a couple low wattage LED's for effect. I'm going to feed my little guy tonight. He's been super active and curious the past week, so I'm thinking he might put on a good show. By show, I mean, maybe he'll come all the way out of his den for more than three seconds.
  13. Hey folks, I'm looking for an acrylic tank, or tank and stand combo for an upcoming mantis shrimp tank project. It needs to be a minimum of about 25 gallons, and while it's probably not absolutely necessary, acrylic would be best. I don't need any lighting for this project as the species of mantis I'm getting cannot tolerate bright lighting. Minor scratches are ok if they can be buffed out. PM me with pictures/description/price if you have something you think might work for this. Cheers! John
  14. Glad you were able to save the corals. Sorry to hear about the unintentional poisoning. I guess I'm lucky that with my fiance having parrots, we have to be extra careful about chemicals around the house. Now all we need is a greyhound to round out the chemically sensitive pets in our household! hehe. (I used to have a greyhound) I'd clean your tank extra well and run it with maybe just some RO water and carbon for a while to be extra sure everything is out of all of the nooks and crannies. At the rate my SPS are growing, I may be able to hook you up with a couple small frags of those, too. Hope the other ones survive long-term. Those were all pretty hearty corals.
  15. Fun contest! The green slimer was my first SPS frag. It prompted me to add a small handful of other SPS frags to my tank. All of which are doing awesome! I can't wait to see what the green slimer does when it's finally done encrusting!
  16. I bought my fuzzy chitons from Reefcleaners.org.
  17. They look like giant potato bugs. They leave the rock bare white wherever they go. I'm assuming you don't mind if they eat coraline if your frag tank.
  18. Turbo Snail? My fuzzy chitons are unbelievably thorough, but they're super slow. You'd need a handful.
  19. No need for the ruler. 100% of the growth is encrusting. It hasn't gained a millimeter. It has encrusted quite nicely though.
