What did you switch to Jace?

Feeling the heat from all the competition. I think the MP10 is still the best choice for nanos, WP10 is such a narrow flow path.

Not to rain on the parade here buuuut....rule #5 dude....
:P

So would u guys recommend established dry rock?
There isn't such a thing, if it's dry, it's dead. I would either fill your tank with all dry rock and seed with some bacteria cultures or do all dry and just get a small piece from someone to seed the dry.
I haven't bough live rock since I started way back when. Pests come and go on corals too but as others are saying, limit the potential sources as corals can be dipped and rock can't (without killing the good stuff of course).

Mr Aqua nanos are pretty cool and available in low iron glass. Jack has a cool one with a current led on it, maybe check his out?
Jbj is also doing some cool AIO tanks now too.
WP10 is a good pump for small tanks and can be turned down.

Also digging the recent topics homepage fix, back to normal again! Keep it up!

Wow, that colony you had them next to is super nice!!

Dang, that went faster than I thought it would! Did you ever figure out if probes are included?
I'm running RKL and waiting for Archon to release :-/
-
Just a quick update... A few hundred gallons changed out so far (automatic and manual). Have to say, the coral looks allot better. 200 more gallons and it will be time to send water in for re-testing...
Epic level water changing dude! One day I should borrow your exchange pump and barrels and do this myself.
Can anyone confirm that Jeff at C&c has triton tests for $30?? Need to do one soon

Mine are all sandbed out of direct light (but still have light on them). A lot has to do with where it comes from (light acclimation wise) and the chalice type. I had some super low light ones die right next to perfectly fine ones. I think you'll find with that one that too much light will yield lighter green and lower will get darker. I'd suggest somewhere easy to scoot into shade if it's not happy.

FTW buddy! Nice job! I have the same head count as last month, not a single new baby popped out.
Yeah...I'm kinda suprized this thing has been such a baby machine. I haven't ever spot fed it and only broadcast feed the tank at night for corals maybe once a week tops. Half the time I was making sure my dang wrasse didn't flip...he was always digging right around it and moving it!

My final measurement! FTW? Maybe? hehehe!
19 heads final count!

If probes are included for that price it's a really good deal. Only reason I never added salinity probe is they are over $100 each...lame!
I do like supporting groups like this as they will push improvements faster than some of the larger companies coasting along on the initial offering.

Given the weird dims, it's gonna be custom. Also not being water tight could save some cash in the custom made area. Contact Arminius, he does great acrylic work and could probably get you a great deal. Haven't heard from him in a while though but worth a shot:

I think the biggest advance is IF the Mindstream monitor ever comes out and works properly. The shear fact that it monitors so many parameters will revolutionize testing and dosing.
In general I believe the next decade is going to be the "testing" age. With Triton, many quality home tests, and the general knowledge sharing of accuraies and necessary levels I'm sure a push for ease and quantity of testing is coming.
Of course, lighting tech will always be changing with next gen LEDs using less power for higher output. Hopefully that comes with more spectral refinement and quality as well.
Exciting times to be a reef keeper! Look forward to it!

Ocean in a box, he gets some smokin deals on bulbs!
-
Have you talked to the local shops? I know Ocean in a Box, Cuddlefish and Coral, etc all do installs and planning. Might want to give one of them a ring and I'm sure they can get you taken care of.

I would say a far more basic safety is a skimmate locker or switch to shut off the skimmer if it goes nuts. I've flooded under my stand 2x from this and it could have easily been avoided. Now with a $5 float switch on my RKL I don't have to worry about this anymore.
-
I can look and see if I have a small piece in my sump for you. Also you may want to take a hunk of cheato too so the pods get going in it (if you have a spot for a fuge that is).
-
What power head is it? I use a titanium grounding probe for piece of mind in my tank, they run like $12 or so. I would consider replacing if it is putting out voltage.

Yeah I have been feeding the tank a lot lately. I usually don't spot feed as my fish go ape when food starts flying around. Don't want them nipping at the LPS for food scraps. I try to early morning and late night if I can.
I would also suggest trying vinegar or vodka dosing. It's easy, cheap and proven. At least do your research before trying the Red Sea product. Good luck!
-
Be careful dosing too much carbon sources. Been there and now I'm dosing nitrate to get a reading above 0 :(
Shoot for 2-10 and everything will be happy. Especially if you have a mixed reef, my lps have been pissed with no nitrates.

In better news, wifey has approved RK Archon purchase to monitor remotely and avoid failure! Yay!!
May even get another APC out this lol!

Not saying I didn't get beat just saying this whole thing has had the strictest rules and everyone else got DQd all over the place for stuff like that. Now the winner is exempt? I can't count his polyps from a top down shot? Just saying...don't really care either way, but let's see some more pics of it!!!!
