Hey Blue Z, when you mentioned that AcroPower didn't have the same impact, did you mean that the colors didn't keep improving or that after a while, the coral reverted back to how they were before you used it

I think the big reason is a lot of people don't dose amino and rely on water changes, so the first time dosing this, the corals react dramatically. I just felt like things look good and then kind of plateaued. Some didn't change at all and some really like it. I would say it is definatley worth a try as no real negatives have been observed by me.

  2. What has been your impression of acro power?

How much are you dosing for your 210?

I'm kinda mixed on it. When I first started using it, it was amazing! Colors deepened and popped really nice. Then it seemed to not have as much impact after a while. I don't dose a ton, not sure my exact dose but my doser runs for 13 sec 3x a day lol. I think my target when I set it up was to be approx 5ml a day. Directions say 5ml per 25 gals once a week. Doing a bit under that.

I have read some good things about AV Fuel so I'm giving it a shot. I had good results with it the one time I tried it several years ago.

  3. Cool idea though! Could put your high light corals up top and low light LPS in the lower portion. I too would worry about the tipping off...if it were mine I'd silicone it to the stand :D

  4. I still think we need to downgrade back to 4.2.2 or 3. I use several forums with the older versions that have no security issues and everything works fine. It is possible to downgrade. Plus with all the backups that happen, the threat of a hack is going to have pretty minor reprocussions.

Wish this site was looking up but it's been so so so SLOW lately (post wise). Hope we can get this figured out soon.

  5. As many have said, pH is irrelevant and shouldn't be chased. I don't really see any use for a ph probe unless it's controlling a Ca reactor. Your SPS are all pissed because you reacted so harshly. Corals adapt to slow change much better than quickly dosing things. You likely spiked your Alk dumping in kalk and did most of the damage there.

For cyano, use some chemi clean. The lights out method never works, especially if you have it bad. Just make sure your skimmer is off or wide open and put an airstone in the tank and it works great.

  6. I think it has a lot to do with how "wet" you skim. I think if you and going at it fast then your probably not doing to much' date=' but if you are just setting your skimmer a little higher then normal and do it over a couple days time then I'm sure it wouldn't hurt anything. I've thought if you were to mix up a small batch of saltwater, maybe 5 gallons, and use it as top off then set the skimmer high it would kinda work as an automatic water change. You would really need to watch the salinity like a hawk tho, skimmers don't take out much salt in normal operation but setting it high would take out actual saltwater. Then you would have to deal with normal evaporation, so I think if you were to watch it and not let the salinity go to high then it could work. [/quote']

^what he said, look up "Wet skim water change" on Google. I'm sure if removes a bit more than usual, however you should look into the issue causing the nitrates. Maybe consider trying MB7?
