  1. Usually hard to beat the Black Friday sales but those are a long ways out. Seems like someone has tanks on sale more or less every month with the general sales cycles between the big online vendors.
  2. I’ve wandered back there, agree that it’s nothing impressive haha, but I like to look as it’s about all we have now in the Vancouver area aside from Petco (which is always a disaster). If you want a 6 line wrasse, I have one for sale (in Camas). PM me if interested
  3. Shoot me a PM and let’s set something up! Lots available
  4. Looks like you “cooked them good” 😎 nicely done, should grow out beautifully
  5. Still have lots of everything, hit me up before I have to start dumping stuff off at the shops! I take cash and PayPal!
  6. Small tanks are hard when it comes to flow. I would probably try a Jebao SOW-4. That will at least be adjustable and can do wave motion so things can get a bit of a rest from getting blasted. Those run about $60. non controllable option would be a Hydor Koralia, maybe like a 600 GPH model. Those are around $40 Another option would be figuring out diffusing the flow on your pump more. Are you aimed at the surface or into the tank? Any pics of your setup?
  7. BUMP! Not many followed through, have TONS to get rid of and make deals on, hit me up!
  8. Looking for an 18x18 stand. My son is getting a gecko soon and the terrarium has an 18x18 footprint. I believe some biocube stands were around this size. Not wanting anything falling apart or water damaged (no more projects please lol). Have cash or corals to trade! Let me know what you have.
  9. I remember someone a while ago asking Petco if they would/could update their 80’s style filtration and they said no (I don’t think they even run a skimmer…). I think they may have even offered to supply the upgrades. Super sad for the animals, but as said, you buy them, the show sales and just keep more coming. I think the only way anything survives is if the store has a “better/more interested” employee trying harder to keep them alive but otherwise based on their junk care routine, it’s very common to see dead/dying fish every visit ☹️
  10. I kinda of wrote off A4R thinking it wasn’t as complete but after reviewing all the stuff in it…I stand corrected! Def covers all the trace stuff you’d need more or less. I typically use the values the reef moonshiners group tries to get to as a general guideline when it comes to dosing and the only thing I notice missing from A4R is the Rubidium, which technically isn’t necessary but is the reason I originally went with Seachem Reef fusion 1&2 (but I also AWC with Neomarine). I might just have to give it a whirl…need to do another ICP though and see how things are first. End of the day, maybe run a ATI ICP now, implement A4R and test after a month and see what it’s doing to all the elements.
  11. Nothing wrong with that plan. I’d probably still seed it with Fritzyme or similar when getting the tank going. As far as rock in the basement, just toss a small heater in your holding tank. I’ve done this many times in Brute trash cans with lids on and kept things plenty warm in an unconditioned garage, even during low temps. As far as where you source live rock, hard to say. Pests can be found in most but usually not a ton. Might see if someone will sell some from an established system. Also had good luck with a chunk from Cuttlefish when I was first starting my tank and trying to get more biodiversity. Also, many times pests can get handled with proper stocking, think of a good “maintenance wrasse” to have (yellow coris we’re always a fav of mine). Maybe elaborate on what was a fight when you did dry rock? Did you not seed it with any live at all?
  12. I’ve got a bunch for sale in Camas.
  13. If you don’t have one of these as a backup, id suggest one. Not only will it keep your tank aerated, it will likely wake up up as they are pretty loud lol! Great peace of mind for $15! Aquatop BREZA Battery Powered Air Pump with AC Power Failure Sensor – Automatic Backup Power System, Aquarium Air Pump, Versatile & Portable For Aquatic Transport, AC-DC-One https://a.co/d/4HsmiY7
  14. Also, not sure where you are at with planning/equipment/etc, but I would highly recommend an emergency drain for your setup. Not only is it way safer for your house, but you can also make one drain full siphon and this quiet. Depending on your tank, it could be as easy as a second hole drilled and a little extra plumbing. Sump layout looks fine to me, pretty standard and you can’t get too fancy with only a 20 gal size layout. I too use apex for my ATO but most everyone prefers Tunze for stand alone.
  15. Hi @Roger wood check your PM for my number. I will be out of town this weekend but will be back later Sunday. Could also do Friday evening.
  16. Looks like cyano, time for some ChemiClean!

  22. I’d say Apex with trident. Hard to beat and will warn you/control dosing for you. I can’t say enough good about my Apex system and would feel pretty comfortable leaving for extended periods with it keeping things in check. All that said though, having a person check in periodically is worth its weight in gold. Corals get flipped by fish or snails, could be a random fish death, etc that would be super hard to know about and could be missed on a cam. Even just once a week or even at the halfway point could really keep things safe.
  23. Apex has made my tank pretty much on cruise control for its whole life so far. Big things I enjoy that it does for me is: AWC to display (2 gal/day) Trident/DOS control of Alk/Cal ATO from garage 200 gal reservoir (only have to fill it every 2-3 months with auto water changes using same water. Recently added a 22gal tank to my office and instead of running plumbing between my 210 gal display and office (would have been a nightmare), I currently have it setup with a DOS that changes 10 gal/day between the two tanks. Levels match, life is good! I feel like my input to the tanks is primarily feeding, which I could automate but choose not to. Aside from that, I just swap a filter sock every few days and empty the skimmer/clean cup once a week or two. Debated adding skimmer overflow switch at one point but my tank has only had the skimmer go nuts about 1x a year and it’s in sump so nothing happens really. For me, this is the easiest I’ve had a tank go for this long with little to no issues.
