tank looks great love the aquascaping i think that some shade is important i like all the critters that grow in the shaded areas that wont grow in the high lighted areas like feather dusters and such but there also great for other corals and acclimating so i think its important to have some shaded areas but you could always add a t5 supplement light

yeah i diy my food its a lot of fun i think stinky but fun going to the grocery stores and choosing exactly what is going into your food also i like making different batches one with smaller chopped up food and another with larger chunks but always wanted to try rods food just they dont sell it locally to me how much does it usually run i can make my diy food for like $10 and it lasts at least 6months and thats feeding 12-15 fish well thats what i used to have in my 120gal

i agree with ya they are amazing fish and have even more amazing personalities i have had several different kinds of them the ive never had a problem with them and shrimp but ive always had a coral banded that was huge and would scare my sailfin tang away so dont think ive ever had that problem but i have always had a problem with the hawks with blennys and gobies they have always terrified them so much and made it very difficult to feed them so i personally think that the only safe way to keep a hawk is by putting it in a nano by itself and corals or put it in a very large tank and feed it many times during the day but thats ime, also ive learned the hard way too with getting the wrong kind of info from lfs they were right in saying its reef safe but most people think something that is reef safe is safe with invertebrates which is far from the truth with hawks and wrasses and many others something that i enjoy doing when i go into a new store is i ask the workers there questions about their livestock that i already know some easy and not so easy questions if i feel that they know what they are talking about i then feel like i can trust them with things that i dont know but it never hurts to look up info on the fish on your smart phone while in the store to double check but so far the only store that ive been in that has passed my so called test is the premium aquarium but i havent been to any of the stores in portland since thats 3 hrs away from me not very local haha ive learned to do this from going into my actual lfs in my town and when ive told them about the livestock that they just ordered in and they had no clue what it was numerous times and i would tell them some basic and interesting facts about them and then as i was leaving they would be telling the next costomer almost word for word what i told them haha i guess i should take it as flattery right lol

What is the misinformation that is on this thread other than feedings, just wondering since i want to learn, also how have you had such great success with getting your nems to split so frequently thanks but to stay on topic i agree like i stated earlier large feeding are not good imo i prefer to use what you feed the fish which i what the clown is going to do anyways so extra feeding especially large aka silversides or krill are not good imo also i agree if your nems foot is holding on good and the mouth looks fine the nem should be fine just enjoy its wierdness and somethings in this hobby are better not understood but respected and enjoyed

i thank you for posting this it does help knowing that others are feeling and thinking the same way that I have been about this but with saying that i do have to agree with kimberlee which might seem hypocrytical since i just thanked you for posting this haha but what i mean is that even though my wife calls this my fish facebook lol this shouldnt be a place that we come to send subliminal messages through general sayings of stop this or dont do that (WHICH I DO NOT BELIEVE AT ALL THAT IS WHAT THIS POST IS ABOUT) but lets help eachother out by giving the best advise that we can our experiences no text book can give that buts thats my 2 or 3 cents in that issue

yeah ive done quite a bit of research into the t5 and its all about the fixtures reflectors and ballast and of course the bulbs i too used a cheaper fixture and did not get the results i wanted and you wont get the results of an ATI fixture with a cheaper one so imo with that fixture either stick with lps and softies or change the color combo i completly agree with you having too many daylight bulbs through in a purple and a different blue that will help a lot but maybe look into a retro t5 you can buy the tek light reflectors and such on brs and have a nice t5 set up for cheaper than buying a nice ATI fixture just a thought

wow im not sure if i completly understood all of that (a lot of big and fancy words for me lol) but it makes sense so ive been wanting to go dosing pump when i can get the money to so does this mean more frequent water changes than 10% every week if so wouldnt that kinda defeat the purpose of dosing right or maybe im not understanding haha

what size of a tank is this how much total vol of water because i would suggest a larger water change than that maybe more along 30% then next day 20% then in two days 10-20% depending on param. imo

I just got done reading most of this thread i skipped a lot of it due to all the drama I was hoping at first of learning something useful about ick which i did in the first few pages and then I dont know how or why but there has been way too much drama and bickering on this thread I find it so sad that people cant come on this forum and just post your opion and leave it at that everyone is going to have different experiences that what is supposed to make these forums so great i would rather learn from personal experiences than read what different websites that state they are true and scientific and all or reading from online stores for all that info is hit and miss imo its impossible for everyone on this forum to agree with your personal experiences but by posting them someone can learn something just please everyone stop attacking others and taking things persaonally just post your opinions and leave it at that nothing more was being asked by the person that started the thread and dont be upset if the originator of the thread doesnt go with your experience Ive personally have had ick several times in different tanks with different fish and have helped others with it as well and each time have had to try different measures to battle it imo/ime every tank is different every fish is different just because you have a sps tank or lps tank or a blue tang and someone else does too does not mean that they are the same in any way please if everyone could just stop the drama and bickering I started going on this forum a little over a year ago and have loved it all up until the past few months due to all the drama its so sad that such an amazing thing can be ruined for others well thats my opinion and im leaving it at that thanks

im sure with a little time they will go back to the rbta but if not or if your not willing to wait which i understand that wellso is gorgeous and so are the clowns so do you have a frag tank or another that you can place the wellso until the clowns host the rbta again

yes clownfish will help thier anemone eat and will bring food but also some will take food away so keep an eye on how good of a partnership they have also depends on your feeding schedule for the fish if they get more light feedings throughout the day the fish would be more likely to share also depending on how much food the clown is feeding the anemone will let you know how often to feed the anemone some people only feed there anemone once a month but it a good helping of meat and some feed 1 or twice a week depends on what your nem needs just dont feed them more than once every 3-4 days unless its small mysis or brine anemones several days to digest silversides and other meats that are larger as for care do not hangle the anemone with your hands as least as possible try and make some good planting spots for it in the tank and watch its foot make sure its holding on good and if its hiding its foot thats good its good thats its sticky and watch for mouth problems other than that enjoy the first month is the trouble month so let it do its thing and help how you can
