  1. These are awesome btw! I happen to have my setup from Brian already wired up, and didn’t realize how important the ability unplug the cap was until I used it. Brilliant!

  2. Well, while I know it’s off topic, you could instead put time and effort into a track car to race. I’ve been seriously thinking of that, though not having a double garage would make it difficult. I actually think I enjoy wrenching just slightly more than reefing.

  3. I bought this and the tunze nano one to compare. Flipper is hands down the best. Neutral buoyancy makes a huge difference, and it’s super narrow (important because my undata grows out toward my glass). Tunze sinks faster than a rock if it breaks free, and doesn’t have the scrubber side. I just wish I’d bought one way back when they came out!

  4. Omg, I just woke up to the banner on top of my phone screen saying bicyclebill has the longest...anyway. About 50 lbs of my rock, those pesky hairy mushrooms, the green zoas and dark blue zoas are all about 25 years old. Started with a 55, upgraded to a 60 15 years ago, and have had the 90 in its current iteration for around 7 years. Lessons learned: buy the size you really want the first time and don’t skimp on equipment.

  5. Ha Bill, you had me for a second (What?  Bill the Coral God and keeper of blue face angel does not know what an aptasia is?)
So true... It takes months but if you started with enough, bye bye aptasia!  Amazing creatures.

Yah, I literally came close to tearing down for good a few years back because of aptasia. I was very much being a sarcastic jerk in my comment above...

  6. Can someone post a pic of aptasia? I don’t remember what it looks like, since it’s been a couple years since I bought my nudibranch’s... but really, they were what kept me from shutting down my tank a while back

  7. Who needs some monti undata? I need to break off several 2-3” pieces to be able to continue cleaning my glass. $10 each, with some freebie purple haze monti of you want it or some green cap of some sort. d91862801676cb419761e0db3d464650.jpg7c9523996bc7f2f69aabd3de2b4ffb45.jpg91540c599600bc8d93ea401c549b90ba.jpg

  8. Ooh, after reading Brian’s post I realized it’s worth clarifying needle valve, as there are two. One on the regulator to control c02 output and one in the effluent line controlling output from reactor into sump. I don’t use the effluent one, but have the ultra fancy c02 needle valve on my ultra fancy regulator. And it works about the same as the ultra cheap ones.

  9. Dang, how could anyone possibly follow the gospel from Rudy?!?
I’ve had much better stability since I added the kamoer peristaltic pump, though I had to replace the roller head short of six months due to noise. 100% agree with Jeremy and Rudy on the regulator and needle valve, though needle valve isn’t needed with peristaltic pump. I’m still a big fan of the Dwyer mini flow meter to make it easier to keep track of flow through needle valve if using one. You can literally see the ml/min flowing. I’m still very happy changing to reactor though. I only have to mess with it every 6 months or so, as opposed to monthly.
