    Handicap Shrimp

Shrimp can regenerate an arm during a molt, so there is a possibility that if he can make it to his next molt he might make a recovery.
  2. whoever came up with the 24 hr auction is a marketing genius. It really seems to generate a buzz. On a side note: Have you ever considered starting your own web site Brad? With your collection and awesome pics you could surely play with the big dogs.
  3. They have one. I was at one of the club meetings and Frank (the meeting was at his house) showed me his ph temp ext. all on his phone. He could turn the tank lights on/off and even control the power heads from his phone!!! The best part was when he did a water change at the push of a button!!!
  4. WOW!!! For some reason the pics of the stand really drives home the scale of this tank. This build is going to be epic!!!! LOL. (laugh).
  5. WOW!!! That is a giant skimmer. I have been considering modifying my downdraft skimmer with an airstone, I'm excited to see this in action. It's amazing that a skimmer that size only needs a maxi jet 1200!!! Even with out the 80 watts to power the air pump it seems like this is a definite energy saver.

    Family Forum

I was surprised to realize kids that young were on here too, I was just trying to point it out. I wasn't offended, I would just hate for the prodigy's parents to ban them from the club because of something they read over the kids shoulder.

  8. So I was about to post this in Brads thread but in the spirit of his thread I thought I would start a new one. I just know there of an incident with an 11 year old who was verbally attacked for asking a question. His father then came on an posted that his son was 11 and how disappointed he was in the way he was treated. I might be off on the age but the kid was young and the point remains the same.
  9. That's my lunch hour... LOL (laugh). When is the movie coming out? I think I will make a rare trip to the theater for that one.
  10. Seriously though guys, there are 11 year old kids on this forum. Shhhhhh...
  11. ^^^^ How's that for de railing Brad?!!!? LOL. (laugh)
  12. I think this is a good move, even though you don't really need it day to day it will be a nice safety net.

    Is this normal?

P.S. TURN IT OFF!!!! The ballast can damage the bulbs by causing them to flicker. Actually I don't really know this to be true it's just what I was told and it makes sense.

    Is this normal?

It could be the ballast. I have had a ballast go out on me in the past and it did exactly what you are describing. I know my LFS always puts in the bulbs and tests the fixtures before selling because things like this do happen new out of the box. No biggie though I'm sure whomever you got it from will replace it, just a hassle. Could be something else as well I'm no expert.
  15. Ya, I'm just thinking he might be checking to see if has a PM, but not checking the thread. Who knows though, he could be watching us right now.... LOL J/K. (laugh)

    HELP

DSBs are home to anaerobic bacteria so in that way yes they are more beneficial. However this is an issue of great controversy amongst reefers, some love DSBs others hate them. I for one always employ them and feel they are the MOST essential part of my filtration. I have a very hands off "old school" approach to my system though. essentially if you are thinking of using one do a lot of research so that you can understand all the pros and cons. Oh and no, I would never syphon a DSB; not even the surface. I'm not really sure why you would want to though? If you are having algae issues you probably just need more flow/hermits to keep the surface clean.
  17. Since he only has 3 posts I'm guessing you guys might want to PM him. Just thinking he might not check this thread.
  18. Your a member of the grammar police as well?
  19. My Mom was always worried about our black cat on Halloween, I always thought she was crazy but maybe not...
  20. I'm guessing your pendents only weigh 2-3 pounds, so like 6 pounds total. I think we will be ok
