  1. We have 11 polyps...pic attached. I really tried to get them to close so I could get a pic of everything, but it wasn't cooperating. I even touched the darn things. I'll try again tonight to get a closed pic.
  2. hehehe This is what happens when 30 year olds go back to school. hehehe I get the reactions and stuff, but when they toss in a bunch of math, it seems I'm completely lost. I did get the answer right on the homework though, so that's awesome...midterm this week so let's hope I can do as well on that as I've been doing in the rest of the class! I *wish* I wanted to major in social sciences and fine art...lol Next term starts my anatomy & physiology series, statistics, and psychology. Psychology is going to be a breeze...it's the other two I'm going to stress about.
  3. Thank you! For some reason I just wasn't getting that I needed to divide by the density...lol
  4. Hey guys. This is mrs.orion. Anyone here able to explain Molarity as it relates to density??? I'm completely stuck on a homework problem (for some reason the steps to the math aren't making sense to me). Here's the problem : A solution is prepared by dissolving 22.4 g NaOH in 124.0 g of water. The NaOH solution has a density of 1.15 g/mL. a) What is the % (m/m) concentration of the NaOH solution? 15.3% (This one I got!) b) What is the total volume (mL) of the solution? This is where I'm having an issue.... c) What is the molarity ( M ) of the solution? This one I'll have no trouble answering once I get over the part b block. I'm also assuming I'll need the molar mass at some point (which is 39.998 g/mole - I can round sig figs later).
  5. call Nick at Rose City I believe he has one or two
  6. I updated in post #90 you just missed it
  7. We have 7 open polyps (with 3 more heads ready to go any day!!).
  8. No problem Glad we could help!!!
  9. A generator is the only way to go However I do have a pair of rv deep cycle house batteries and a 6000 watt inverter as a back up.
  10. Wow that is a nice pic how cool!! My wife laughs at me as I spend anywhere from 1 to 3 hours a night looking at the tank in the dark (nutty) I am just amazed at all the action in the tank after the lights go out. There is a lot of discussion on bristle worms I am going to keep an eye on them but for now I am going to leave them alone. Thanks once again for all the input guys (clap)
  11. very nice I love the color
  12. No worries. If it's good, we're keeping it!
  13. Look on the right side of the plate coral at the bottom...it's poking its little head out!
  14. Thanks guys! We don't want to kill anything that might be OK for the tank, but if it's bad, we're all about elimination...heh For instance, I just spotted what we can only describe as a bristle worm. Research has said both good and bad...do we yank it out and get rid of it or do we keep it in there for it's scavenger qualities?
  15. I have yet *another* "[language filter] is this" question....anyone? (whistle) We've only just noticed these when the tank is dark...
  16. the loop you have needs to go up it makes the water level in the skimmer match the highest point in the hose and the vent keeps it from acting like a siphon hose down to the sump level
  17. Wow , I am sorry he was a great guy and had a ton of knowledge he will be missed
  18. I am using the bottom center pipe on my skimmer for the return and the side upper inlet for my supply it has been working great this way for me
  19. If the line with the ball valve is the return lift the hose up to the level you want your water in the skimmer put a T fitting at that level attach the hose on the horizontal side's and a straight pipe vertical open to air. The reason for the vertical pipe is if you don't open the top of the loop to air it will create a siphon and drain the skimmer I did a little mod to your photo I will try and get a pic of my setup for you
  20. Sweet! Then we won't worry. It's amazing how much crap is in the tank that we never bought or put in there on purpose......LOL
  21. Here...we'll throw in a couple of entries.
  22. So, we've noticed these little guys (one is about an inch long already!) come out at night and crawl all over everything (including our corals). Anyone know what it is or if it's OK for the tank??? It's like a little slug thingy...or a snail without a shell...
  23. So far no new polyps, but we have a couple of buds. Hopefully by the next update we'll have something fun to show!!
