  1. Well, you know, if we bring you part of it, we'll have an empty spot that some Duncans would probably LOVE to inhabit.........hehehe
  2. I'll get them out and glue them down tomorrow. It may just work out that we'll have two separate frags now. Darn. (whistle)
  3. I really should have! I just didn't realize it was as big an issue as it was until I was vegging out in front of the tank this evening. heh
  4. Sweet! I was worried about the glue hurting the little buggers. But if that'll work, that's what I'll do. Thanks!
  5. We picked up a frag of zoos yesterday that were attached to something that was apparently living (looked like some kind of bivalve??). It moved off the rock and left our zoos just flopping around. How can we get them anchored again? The part that came loose is the right side (probably about 3 or 4 heads) at the base where they attach to the rock. Can these be glued or do we need to try something else (like putting them in a lower flow area in the ref?)??
  6. Sweet we will be sure not to throw the stalk away after it pops
  7. Here are a couple more pictures with a macro filter...might help you see it better!!
  8. So, we picked up this groovy little guy today and he seems to like his new home so far. There's only one problem...we have no idea what he is other than some type of coral. (scratch) The LFS didn't know either, so we came to the place where people might know! Any help would be greatly appreciated. (whistle)
  9. Mine didn't even get included in the vote it never made it to the poll. no worries it's not worthy anyway
  10. I have been in the steel fab industry for 5 years here is what I would suggest in oder of cost Powder coating (Might not be the most expensive I know a few people I might be able to get you a deal) An A-B zinc epoxy coating (I use Rodda paint) amazing corrosion resistance An A-B epoxy (I use Rodda paint) Or you could use Barrier 3 rust inhibitor primer also available at Rodda paint, then use a top coat they have a lot available.
  11. Here is ours it is still very new but what the heck
  12. The skimmer is a SeaQuest protein skimmer (though not sure of the model?). We quit using the bottom input because it was putting bubbles straight down into the over-flow tube (and back into the ref tank). The top nozzle has been turned to go straight up so that the bubbles go up and not straight down into the drain tube.
  13. Thanks for the reply! Unfortunately, this is not the case as we bought the skimmer used. :( Anything else that could cause it??? Or will it still need to get the oils out from sitting unused?
  14. We have our protein skimmer all hooked up and seems to be running great! The only issue is that we're having a lot of air bubbles coming back into the ref tank (and thus cycling up into the display). Any hints or suggestions on how to stop these annoying micro-bubbles? We've tried adjusting the flow from the skimmer but it only seems to make it worse..... DOH!
  15. Thanks, Rick! We definitely want to do it right and wait until everything is good before we put the more expensive and harder to take care of fish and inverts in. We have TONS of algae in the tank right now so we went ahead and got the urchin. Unfortunately, even with the urchin and the snails, we still can't keep up with it. heh Any suggestions?
  16. Thanks Guys!! This little worm is interesting and fun to watch. I am glad he is good for the tank. I seem to see something new everyday
  17. So, we were sitting here admiring our tank when this little worm thing showed up with a tentacle. It's against the glass in the sand bed and we can find at least three. Should we be worried??? (Picture below...well, what we could get...center of the frame.) It's like a black worm and the little white tentacle thingy is sticking out of the sand. Then, it will suck down and disappear.
  18. It really is a gorgeous tank! We didn't believe it was brand new either. heh
  19. If my wife wants starfish, I guess we'll just have to set up another tank. Thanks for the info thus far! I don't want to get any little critters that will suffer or kill everything else...heh BTW, dsoz, my wife cracks up every time she reads your sig line...and thank you for the xenia offer! So far that's one of our favorites!
  20. ...would these be OK to put in the same tank? We do already have quite a few Nassarius snails, a couple of small hermits, and two clownfish. But, once everything is cycled and we start adding more livestock, we'd just really like to know if everything here could co-habitate... Also, the tank is 95 gallons (with a 40 gal sump/refugium tank). Being new to the hobby and all we're not sure on the "this is how much you can and can't put in a tank" rules...so if this is too much, that information would be helpful too. 21. They're absolutely awesome! The rock is amazing and the snails are happy as can be!
  22. (laugh) I do have to admit we jumped the gun just a *bit* and tossed 2 clowns in there today. All of our sand was in a live tank so there's at least a little biological filtration going on....DOH! We're waiting on more though...for sure.
  23. We added the rock last night and everything has settled out. Got the sump/refugium tank system up and running today so the heater and temp gauge will be moved down eventually.....and so it begins... We even managed to score a killer skimmer/pump system from SWF!
  24. What started out a week ago as an idea, has (some might say "unfortunately") come to fruition quite quickly!! Thanks to some awesome guys here, my wife and I have started our journey into the saltwater/reef community! We got rid of our four (yes, four) freshwater tanks and decided to throw that money into a saltwater setup. Of course, not knowing where to start, we came here and you all have been way more than helpful by letting us check out your systems and answering what may seem like really stupid "new toad" questions! So, here is the picture as it sits right now. Actually, I take that back...right now it has some awesome live rock in it (courtesy of Brandon) and we're waiting for it to settle...but it's coming along nicely and more pics will follow!! 95-gallon glass tank, 40-gallon sump/refugium tank, two 250w 12k Mh pendant lights, two T5 Actinics, two T5 10k's, about 100 lbs of live sand (thank you, Prada), a couple of borrowed powerheads (thank you, kilmca), and some miscellaneous snails and crabs (great hitchhikers!)...
  25. Brandon, thanks for the awesome deal on some gorgeous rock! We'll take pictures as soon as the tank settles.
