  1. Mine are on the bottom of a 75g tank with 6x54w T5 TEK light. They have gone from 10 polyps to 25+ polyps. You said that you have PC lights, they should be fine under those. Just increase the flow. Eric- did you melt down that last polyp I brought you too? Jody, glad to see that yours are doing well. That pic looks great! dsoz __________________ chemistry teachers put the cation in education. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Last edited by dsoz; 07-27-2009 at 08:56 AM. I have two Koralia 1's for flow. Would there be too much flow if I swapped out one of the 1's for a 4?
  2. The calcium test kit is an Aquariun Pharm kit. I use Seachem salt mix and the calcium level has always been 480-500. Of course until now, I have never really had anything that eats up calcium. Mostly just softies.
  3. Thanks for the good news on the Acro! I thoroughly cleaned the pump/venturi within the last week. The air inlet is functioning. I dialed the water level back a little and the skimate is quite a bit drier now. After I cleaned it a few days ago it cycled through a few cups then it was fine. I guess the skimate always has been a bit on the wet side but the last couple of days have been nuts.
  4. Yea, it draws air, at least it makes enough noise to be working correctly.
  5. The pieces I added from Brandon are two stalks of Frog Spawn, 3-4 pieces of Acropora, about 20 brown/green palys and a half dozen mushrooms on rock. I wouldn't think any of that would cause it, but this my first experience with Acropora. I don't know if it is normal, but the Acro's polyps have been open for most of the day and I just put them in last night. That is a good sign I hope. They did slime up a bit though when I glued them to some pucks.
  6. The only thing I have done is add some things from I got from Prada. Alkalinity 200+ Calcium 480-500 PH 8.2-8.3 Nitrite 0 Nitrate 10-20ppm Ammonia 0 Salinity 1.024 All these levels are the norm for my tank. When I empty the skimmer cup and turn it back on, it fills right back up. I have been moving things around trying to place the things from Brandon but nothing else. I have a Magnum hang on canister filter. Would it help if I load it up with carbon and run it for a while? Thanks, Gene
  7. Yes, but the blue in mine isn't as intense. I might not have as much actinic. The pics of mine are in post #7.
  8. They are epoxied in, but I'll try to move it. As you can see, the rest of my zoos are doing great. Except for the fire/ice, they all started as tiny frags with no more than about five polyps each. I feed phytofeast and oysterfeast.
  9. I'll try moving them down to an area with a little more flow.
  10. Don't know if my lighting is considered "High" or "Moderate". One 65w 10,000k/6700k pc bulb, one 65w 420/460 Actinic pc bulb, and one Giesemann 24w HoT5 Aquablue+.
  11. There they are. Right above the fire and ice. You can see where they detached on the right side.
  12. I have a bunch of pics. I will see if they are in one.
  13. I have my Super Blues at the top and they don't seem to be doing so well. They don't open much and I have even had 2 or 3 polyps detach themselves. How much light do these guys like? Do I need to move them down towards the bottom? Thanks, Gene
  14. I would love to get the frogspawn but I am down here in Eugene. Darn it, I was just in Portland a couple of days ago. Anyone making a trip from the Eugene area?
  15. Which version is the Urchin, Pro or the small one?
  16. I have a HOT magnum that can perform water polishing. Is it safe for SW? Will it remove anything that should not be, like salt?
  17. BW3's are magnetic & Galaxy's are Electronic. I am also asking because a LFS SLS sales rep is recomending th BW 3's.
  18. What salinity/gravity measurement will 2.5 cups give you? I use 2.25 cups and I get 1.024.
  19. Wow, that was amazing. My five year old and I sat and watched it three times. That is the longest period of time that he has sat still for quite a while. Thanks for sharing.

    Bad crab!!

Wow. I did not know that Emerald crabs would eat coral. I hand feed ours krill & mysis shrimp. Other than that they just eat algae. They are some of my kids favorite critters. If they ever started eating my coral I guess I would have to yank them out of there too.
