  1. You should check out used fixtures to save some $$. Many people (myself included) are switching to LED and selling off their old lights for cheap. For example I have a Current Outer Orbit Pro 2x250 MH + 4x54 T5 fixture that I expect to get around $300 for. This was a $1000 light a few years back. http://www.aquacon.com/CurrentUSAOuterOrbitT5.html Mines not ready to sell yet, but it is a good example what is out in the used market if you are looking at halides or T5.

    Kessil A350?

Yes it is a Midas Benny. I have the A350W and gooseneck mount on order. They should arrive next week.
  3. Mike, Count me in! I'll check my schedule and send you a PM with what time works best for me.

    Kessil A350?

No one else have these? I'm now considering one on my frag tank as a trial before I make the final decision on the main DT.
  5. Can I get a raincheck? . Would love the whole pack but don't have time to make the drive.

  7. Wannareef is correct about the pins. I got most of the parts from Radio Shack, but it is probably less expensive to buy off eBay or Amazon. I got the mini din off Amazon. It was under $3 and I had free Prime shipping.

    Kessil A350?

Anyone have a Kessil A350 or A350w? I'm going to make the LED jump and these look pretty impressive. I have added them to my list of potential fixtures. There are quite a few threads on RC, but I haven't seen one in person and wanted to see if anyone locally had experience with them.
  9. Are you using the foam inserts inside the canisters?
  10. It's very nice. Easy to setup and program. My only minor complaint is that I can't tie it into the Apex. But then again that is my complaint with everything. I would run my whole house off the Apex if I could.
  11. Anyone else using the aquaplanner IPhone app? I bought it earlier this week and it is pretty handy. Logs all test results and you can setup notifications for maintenance items. You can also keep a log of all your equipment and tank inhabitants with photos, notes, purchase price, ect. One of the best apps I have purchased for a few $.
  12. Using it right now. I never use my computer anymore for this forum. Works good most of the time, sometimes it doesn't pull up new posts real fast, but is is worth the $.
  13. Less than $20 and maybe an hour of time. For me it wasn't about saving the money. I'm not a fan of the spring close type connections that the Neptune box uses. I find them unreliable and it is too easy for the wires to fall out. I also like that the DIY box is much smaller and can be sealed to prevent moisture issues.
  14. Here is my QT tank. 40B with 29 sump. Sump: DJ power strip for equipment: And here are both tanks in the "hobby room". (Also the only room in the house that I have full claim to.)
  15. Thought I'd share some more pictures of the sump & equipment: Skimmer & return plumbing: Profilux doser. Currently running 2-part from Bulk reef supply plus magnesium. Need to put the fourth pump into use. Tubing holder for dosing & ATO. The wire cluster:
  16. Thanks. You can connect just about any continuity type switch to it. I'm going to use it for float switches and eventually a Water Bug. You can also use for push button switches to initiate feedings or pump modes, or hook it up to door switches to turn on / off lights.
  17. Put together a breakout box for my Apex tonight. Can't take any credit for the design as I just duplicated what others have already done. I did use a smaller box than most of the DIY threads I have seen. I think it turned out nice. The only thing I'd do differently is use a black cord so it matches better. Here are a few photos.
