yep you would need something to keep it cold......if you went with a warmer temp( not native) then you'll need a heater. do you collect?dive often? I wouldnt think a smaller tank would be too expensive just depends on your taste of inverts but many of them need more attention and are more high maitience so do your homework on each one before you get it. when you talk money and upkeep there are alot of things to consider, what size tank do you want? what are the lighting needs that the creatures you want need( theres some big money) and then what sort of creaturs ;just inverts? do you like corals? I dont think theres saltwater frogs but tons of shrimp snails and other inverts some are costly and need alot of up keep...there much more sensitive to changes in water(temp/quality) so imho I think its better to spend more money on equpitment to help maintaine a better and more stable habitat for them then repeatedly loosing them over time. I have a warm tank with several shrimp ranging from 10 to thirty dollars that are great...the smaller ones I dont see much but my coral branded cleaner has a great personality and is very active. also my crabs are neat and snails are kinda cool when there eating on the glass and doing something you can see. I like my hermits but they have been on a snail killing spree so I'm not overly pleased with them right now. I think you should look at stuff and for sure decide if you want warm or cold tank. talk to stevewest he has a cold water tank thats really pretty. once you decide what you want to keep, then you just kinda pick your equiptment and other stuff around their needs. good luck and ask lots of questions, everyone on here is really helpful.

I have maroons...and they eat really well arctipods...formula one flake...and whatever I soak in this garlic immunity booster I bought...its suposed to enhance the taste and boost the immune system. I noticed a huge difference when I give them their food soaked in this..they go nuts. and through a super stressful move set up staying in a tank for three days with no filter or skimmer or bearly any water movement and then a tank tare down and redo of live rock...no ick no streesful fishies....everyone is happy and little piggies.

so how are you anchoring your little frags to your rocks? glue?

some may but you can propagate them again...its the cyle so its gonna happen but it should be fine. as for water change...yeah i did some and then get a great clean up crew before the algae sets in, oh and if your near sunlight for heavens sake put up some curtains....learned that one the hard way.lol

the little white things are pods I believe ceo pod...very good alot of your tank inhabitants munch on them....certain fish like mandrins need a established tank with a large population of these to survive. congrats...your tank is establishing. as for the other thing...need a pic. you can also look up alot of stuff on different id bases..try google.

yeah diddo on the algae...I'm thinking of getting another...constantly I see them muching away. he even scratches at the glass , no scratches yet but I have mixed feelings when he's by the glass. for the most part they stay along the rocks.

I just paid 1100 for a simular set up. ...slightly more upgraded than that and came with more livestock.....also depends on the area in selling. if your selling your powerheads let me know....so I'd say part out...on ebay you can do pretty well.

mine moved once cause I put some ph up into the sump that then went right up into the tank and spuued over my lta( thanks for the id) and it bunddled up and disaperaed for a whole day. and yes when I gave the fish a shrimp pelett treat they tried to give him some , I have a mateing pair so there was like six little pellets that he didnt want on his mouth....he hasnt messed with my frogspawn yet....I will be sure to get some netting thanks...oh 4 of my zoas are open almost all the way on that original rock. very happy about that. thanks for letting me know.....guess he wasnt hungry... sigh of relief
