  1. are these still avail? Are these still available? Rainbow echinata: $35 Pink bar goby/Randall shrimp pair: $30 Yellow watchman goby: $12 Thanks Jim
  2. don't think so.. Just put in a $300+ order and had to pay shipping. :(
  3. Has anyone used or is using the Vertex MOcean wave maker? Either the 2000 or 3500 model. I'm wondering if the device works better than the Sea Swirls. I like the fact that it can rotate 360 degrees. Not that I need that, but 180 would be cool. Any store carry the device? Like to see it in person.
  4. I was thinking more of a pressurized tank like this one http://cracklecdn-zoovy-3.simplecdn.net/img/theh2oguru/W640-H480-Bffffff/U/unsinkfront.jpg I'm out of clue why your waste is not stopping. Let us know what you find out from Bulk Reef.
  5. Well, I figured out my problem from the website you had above. My RO membrane housing was missing a check-valve out of the good water line.. now it works normally. As for the new DI. You should run about 3 - 5 gals before using the water out of your DI for your tank. When I change out my DI, I normally make 30 gal of water and dump the water on my lawn. The reason is because the DI resin will have some impurities that will come out of the water initially. What does your DI cartridge look like? And do you have a water tank?
  6. are there any air trap in the DI canister? Since the valve is based on pressure from the good water line to stop the incoming water line, it may not be able to build up enough pressure. Have you tried lowering the water pressure? I'm having the same issue and not sure if it is the ASOV problem. Have you contacted Bulkreef to get their feedback? Mine doesn't stop with or without my DI at the end.
  7. do you mean water keep coming out of the waste line? I'm having problem with one of my ASOV too. I have 3 and 1 doesn't work.. go figure.
  8. I just replaced all my MH 400W. I have always had good luch with Ushio brand and will pay the hefty price to have good quality bulbs. What Kelvin are you looking for?
  9. Travis, Good call on the Mandarin fishes. Watched them beat the crap out of each other... no wait.. those were my kids.. they fishes were following each other.. very cool.. the fish that is.
  10. I would have to say all depends on what was done to the picture. If it was to enhance the color of corals or fish so they do not represent the actual specimen, then NO. But if the picture was altered to better represent the specimen then yes. I have multiple digital cameras and each one enhances certain colors under tank lighting. So it all depends on their intention. I'm guessing your problem is stemming from color being enhanced to mis-represent the specimen.
  11. The Blue spotted and Pearly Jawfish are doing great and both area eating. Sure missed my last one... not sure what happened to my last one.. I was only gone for 7 days. (scratch). And the 2 mandarin's are getting along with each other.. if only I get to see them come out more.
  12. I run my carbon through a canister.
  13. Hey Mike, Frank, Thanks guys.. it's been too long with SPS. I did setup my Halides again so I can be back in to SPS again... Maybe someday down the road we can all trade again... right now I have a 280 with too much real estate and looking for mini colonies to fill in the spot.. I'm impatient. Guess Ryan (Kruxy) is getting back in.. hope he doesn't want his fish back.. cause I'm not catching them... Yes, Travis, you rock and have some of the nicer stuff around PDX. I made my rounds and like dropping a few hundred at your place...Don't you have a old timer's discount??? And thanks for catching the Rabbit fish for my daughter.. she name the fish Spot. Her favorite fish.
  14. Travis, Wanted to say Thanks for the great corals.... Trying to fill my tank is a *****, but am restocking with hard to find corals... keep up the great work in stocking great corals... let me know when you get bigger clams in... I'll be there to get them.. Also, good seeing Tom there... just like old times. Jim
  15. Let me know what deals are you finding on the salt. I like to stock up so I don't have to keep buying, but you can typically get a good deal when buying in bulk. Don't forget to take pictures are you migrate to your new tank. I always like seeing the progression of a tank from putting the tank together to a fully stock tank.
  16. what I have done in the past is to basically watch the levels. initially all levels will be low when you put your rocks in... if the rocks are uncure, you will get a spike in Nitrite, Ammonia and Nitrate. Watch the cycle and once they come down, your tank is pretty much cycled. I have cycled tanks within a couple of weeks to a month or two. It just depends on how much die-off there are. If the rocks is from your old tank, then it will not take as long as you will have less die-off. And water changes are important. Hope this helps. I'm in the process of moving all my rocks and live stock from my main tank into my prop tanks. You remember my prop tanks Mike. But only setting up 2 for now. And my goal is to complete it by Friday night or at least in 3 hours. Then I'll be doing multiple water changes to help keep the Ammonia level down. Done this in the past and worked well.
  17. Hey Thanks Mike. Glad to see a lot of good'ol reefer is still around. wow... must have missed the bad batch syndrome. Are you still using Ocean Pure? Maybe I'll just need to visit the good ol' LFS and see what each one is selling.
  18. Oh... if any LFS in the Portland area that have 10 buckets they like to make a good offer, send me a PM. Hope I'm not violating any rules or regulations.
  19. Thanks Sam for the heads up.... I don't need the salt until mid-Oct, but with cost going up... guess I can get it now.
  20. Hey Jon, Ryan.... I'm currently in the process of tearing down my big tank. I re-setup the prop tanks in the garage again and hopefully when I get home, they will be ready... water have been running through the system. Now I need more salt and rocks when I rebuild the system. Being that I am still using Oceanic and Ocean Pure, wanted to see what other reefers are using. Salt price is just crazy. Nyles, I hear you on the UPS and buckets being busted. I think what happens is the buckets are accidentally dropped from their conveyor system at the sorting warehouse. I would be perfect if the buckets left the original warehouse to the plane and to your house. But everything is unloaded from the start to their sorting facility before it gets loaded on another plane to you. Sucks, but glad Petsolutions took care of you. I have kalk reactor, calcium reactor, etc. so not worried about paying for other additives that I can add myself. Just good salt to start. I like the Oceanic bucket cause the lid is the best. Easy to open and when it's empty will hold water tightly. So anyone still using Ocean Pure around here?
  21. THanks Nyles. I was always curious about the Red Sea Coral Pro salt. I'll have to look into Petsolutions. I know when Ryan (used to own a store in Salem) would bring in 10+ buckets for me and was $30 for a 200g bucket. But that was when gas was also cheap.
  22. It's been a while since I bought any salt as I typically stock up about 10+ buckets. Now I'm moving my tank and will need more salt. I have been using Ocrean Pure and can't remember off the top of my head, but the salt that came in the blue bucket. So what salt are you using? And who carries it? Tanks Jim

    New frags

Hey Ryan. I've been reading here and Reef Central, so not fully out of this hobby. Moving my tank to a new house in October and going to setup my tank completely different and get back into SPS. Miss the fragging and all the fun stuff. Tried the LPS thingy and not completely my thing. Like the colors of the SPS much better. How's it going with you?
